My father was italian from South Philly and my mother is Irish and from North Philly. He told me when he was a kid and my Grandfather died he was pumping gas at a gas station in South Philly when he was about 15. Angelo Bruno pulled up and he pumped his gas. He said when he was done Angelo turned to him and asked "I heard your father died?" My father awsered yes. Angelo handed him an envelope of money and said " give that to your your mom". He turned out to be my father's best man in his first wedding. Long story short Angelo was a great man who kept South Philly safe. P.s My father use to say. " Nicky scarfo would shoot a dead body just to see it jump'. My father came from Naples in 1945.

He killed my uncle for a booth seat in Oregon Diner. He & chuckie merlino & some other guy tried to big shot him. My uncle wouldn't get up. Pussy grabbed a knife off the table and stabbed him. He ended up only doing 2 years. A lot of ppl say it's why he became boss. They told him he was to wild, to hot to come back to the city after. They sent him to AC. He got set up there when it was just a shit beach town. Then they got legal gambling. He had all the connects so the 6 families worked through him. When the time came for Philly to name their next boss the punk had the in with the commission. He then went about destroying the Philadelphia family.
@mathewkeen23563 жыл бұрын
@New Jersey Scumbag yup butter knife. His nephew tells the story different on 1 of those mob shows. He says Nicky was getting beat up by a huge guy and stabbed in self defense. But I'm sure my grandparents who were on the scene after it happened and the cops know the story better. Plus the huge part is hands down BS. But families all got stories they tell themselves. So no hard feelings against him. And thanks. Never got to meet him for obvious reasons.
@mathewkeen23563 жыл бұрын
Little up date. Fact correction.(GrandMom showed me the police report.) What happened was he was at the diner when he saw a friend come in and he got up to say Hello. When he did Nicky and crew went to his table, moved his shit and sat down. My uncle came back and said something. They threatened him and tried to big time him. My uncle wasn't having that and stood up for his self. Nicky and Merlino and dude started jumping him. My uncle fought back and held his own vs all 3. I guess they didn't like that, so Chuckie Merlino snuck up behind him and bear hugged him. Nicky then grabbed a knife from the table and stabbed him. A bunch of witnesses more or less corroborated that version of the story. Nicky got 2 years but only served 6 months, bc of... lol...good behavior. For such a big case it's kind of hard to find details about it online. Which is bc of my Great Grandmother. She was the quintessential Irish American Mom. She pulled no punches, had no fear, and told it like it was. So when this all happened she was on the war path. She went after everyone and everything. Zeroing in on the papers. They were telling all kinds of salacious stories. Printing guesses and theories like they were news. They were connecting him to gambling, loans, whores, etc. Whatever rackets they had their hands in, in the newspaper's eyes, he was a suspected patron. So obviously my Great Grandmother was livid. She'd show up at the papers and bang on the doors after getting banned from the building. But that didn't stop them. The papers sold to well. Mobsters Nicky Scarfo and Chuckie Merlino involved in a broad day light murder? In a restaurant in front of dozens of witnesses? There had to be more to it. (By the way, it was that recklessness that got him such a light sentences.) But like I said. There wasn't. He was an honest long shoreman. Outside of some fights he was as clean as the rims at a Cardi B Fan vs PornStsr basketball tournament. My GGM lawyered up and once it all came out in court and the verdict was handed down the papers were screwed. They liabled a murder victim and his family all in defense of a bunch of low life mobsters and their way of life. As if they followed a code that forbaded such things. The Papers knew, that besides this being a likely financial loss if the case ever made it to trial, the public relations disaster, especially if links to the mob were revealed in discovery, would be devastating. So they settled, but my GGM wasn't out for $. Remember what I said, she was an old school Irish American Immigrant. They went generations with nothing. She came from people(her own Great Grand-Parents) who decided it was preferable to die in a foreign war(considered the first modern war in human history) fighting for the freedoms of people they did not know, then to continue to live under Cromwell's Genocidal Occupation. Her people were serfs who risked it all for justice. For them and for others. She wanted the same for her son. Money didn't matter to them. They never had it. So they never developed a Dependency for it. Their currency was Respect. So What Mattered To Them Was Their Names. To People Who Lived Like They Did, And Came From Where They Came From, Nothing Mattered More. It Was How Your Family Names Rang Out That Determined Your Place In The Community. Your Reputation Was All. And the papers sullied it. So when the time came she only demanded 1 thing, and that was everything. She wanted it all removed. She wanted every record, every article, every mention scrubbed. She didnt want his name or their family's name connected in anyway to a criminal organization. And they relented. They retracted it all and scrubbed every mention they could find. Till this day it is still upheld. That is why any time an article is written about them, or a tv show or documentary is made, they never mention my uncle's name. It is always "a longshoreman". That was my Great Grandmom. She lived well into her 90s and passed around a decade ago. The whole thing is a sad story and it bothers me knowing I never got to meet him. All bc of the egos of Scarfo and his 2 little toadies. Yet every time I see something new about them, and my uncle's name is missing, it brings a little smile to my face. Because I Know, That That's My Great GrandMother. Still Holding Fake News Accountable From Beyond The Grave.

Michael Franzese just rehashes the same few tales. Interesting initially, but there's no breadth or unguarded detail. Obviously, he didn't fully cooperate, so could still incriminate himself and others. With Sammy, he would have had to tell the Feds everything, or risk nullifying his agreement. That leaves Sammy free to talk about anything and everything he wants to. Sammy obviously only talks about what he wants to, but what a depth of mafia history he has at his fingertips. Astonishing, honest and absolutely riveting. A very, very astute businessman and intelligent guy. Onwards and upwards Mr Gravano.

I feel guilty listening to this guy, the stories are great, but he talks like killing someone as casually as throwing out the trash. They use CosaNostra and the mafia as as an excuse for their psychotic behavior. I find it hard to believe that burning a religious card in your hand and getting straightened out turns you into a psychopath who has no qualms about killing people, cutting up their bodies and all the other crap they pulled with no conscience or long term regret. In the end you can tell he is an old cocky little man who is very proud of the life he lived and the crimes that he committed. Not someone I feel comfortable liking or admiring.

Thanks again for sharing your life stories. The channel is incredible! I’m thankful and fortunate to have access to the best content on the internet. You can’t hear stories like this anywhere else, this channel itself in this time will become history and some day people will look back and look at the days of social media and the people involved in it and we get to be a part of it. Thanks again for sharing and having an incredible channel. Take care and stay safe and healthy.

Sammy your a treasure, I was always interested in the mob since I was a kid. My grandmother was the one who told me about the Mafia because her mom and dad were from Italy. Now I hear real things about that life from one of the highest ranked people that was in it. Amazing stories. Thank you!!!

Stanfa came back around time Nicky Scarfo and Phil went to prison, he filled the vacuum as boss but was challenged by Joey, and then he went back to prison again and died in prison. Prolly should have stayed in Italy and be free there, he cause unnecessary fighting just by being back in Philly

I don’t doubt that at the time when scarfo was alive and the boss he would give all his attention to killing John stanfa if he ever returned because he killed one of his captains for nothing . Scarfo was blood thirsty who kill anybody who got in his way .
