Yoshi's Story always was one of the weirdest N64 game I've played. There's just something odd about it. One thing it kept from previous Yoshi games was the ability to use eggs to defeat enemies and break stuff. But...is it possible to beat it without breaking a single egg?

When a secret is underneath, Yoshi will wave and yell at the player in excitement. The developers were very creative when designing this game; it is simple enough for a 5 year-old to play, yet can be challenging even for a well-seasoned gamer if going for the 30 melons in each stage.

This game is guilty of making me love fruits. I was 8 years old I think ('twas '99 yeah?) I'd already liked grapes and things, but my favorite character Yoshi would not be unbound from fruits in my mind for about a decade. That still leads this meat-loving guy into a couple of funny moments once in a while :) BTW thanks Nicobbq for snapping me out of it, for a good 5 to 7 years I'd been spiting a childhood gem and now you make me want to play again. Let's hope the waterworks don't come on during the credits, let's just say that's a story for another time ;)

me and my sister played this game religiously as kids, one of our favorite games right next to Banjo and Kazooie :) also its been over a decade since ive played but i think you can eat the birds in 3-2 and use them on the boss? might be wrong but if u can then thats great :) thanks for making a great video on one of my favorite games!

Good video. Doesn't dive as deep as it should in the conclusion though, 3-2 required no eggs to beat, yet it retains its 1 when you talk about variable routing at the end. Would have been cool to breakdown each levels hearts a bit more- seperating the amount of eggs required to beat a stage & the amount to collect x hearts on each stage.

You can actually save a egg throw at 3:49 by breaking the last one first and crouch walking (really slowly) between the rock and the ceiling. *TRIED TODAY AND IT WORKED* *1 EGG SAVED* If 6-2 had 1 fruit in the key room 1 egg could have been saved. (Looking for a way to win 6-2 without the key now) If you are just trying to "eggless" yoshis storys all levels, you can get 2 hearts from 2-2 and skip getting 2 hearts from 2-3. *1 EGG SAVED*

Math is not my best subject, but if my calculations are correct, there 4,096 unique path combinations that you could theoretically take. Levels one, two, and four have 120 possibilities each while level three has 150 that do not break an egg. So, by my calculations there are 510 paths without breaking a single egg. This is about 12.45% of all the possible paths that you could take. A little less than 10% of all play throughs could be done without breaking an egg.
