Safest Form of Money With the Reserve Bank (RBNZ) advocating monetary innovation by promoting Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) backed by government as the safest form of money, shouldn’t this be tested through referendum by New Zealand’s people who live, work, produce and occupy the economy. To me “backed by government” means public/fiscal deficits will still be created as debt. All this means is, instead of government selling Treasury Bonds to banks, it will sell digital bonds directly to the RBNZ guaranteed by our taxes (us). The only innovation is the extension of centralised power to the RBNZ. This questions’ whether commercial banks will still have the power to create money in the act of lending or will this have to be all done through the central bank (RBNZ). Banks will most likely go out of business with the RBNZ buying up all the debt to centralise power and control. Is debt-based money creation backed by government the safest form of money? I say NO! With so many drawing incomes from the taxes paid by productivity this can be acknowledged as a form of social credit. It is only fair real taxpayers see public/fiscal deficits funded by debt-free social credit. The debt-based monetary system is not serving New Zealand well Prime Minister, so give us some alternative choices so “we the people” can decide what the safest form of money is. Unelected people having the power to create debt-based money is not safe at all!

Lets double exports! That's nice Brett O'Reilly, the problem is that the Reserve Bank are planning to raise the OCR which is going to make our exports more expensive. Do you think countries like China are going to want to import expensive milk when they are producing their own for cheaper?

What should be clarafied is Understnding Social Liberalism. Tip: Social Liberalism is the ideology of trickle up. It believes in social equality and social justice, but it is not socialism. If it were socialism, it wouldn't have the word liberalism in the title (and in fact, the whole concept is that it rejects pure socialism and pure liberalism and instead is a mash-up. A social liberal is a progressive liberal. Clintons and Obamas are more progressive and toward the social, one wing more neoliberal and classically and toward the liberal; all are looking for mixed -market solutions to social injustice that embrace planks of classical liberalism. The left wing evolution of liberalism is different than the classical form.

In the economic form. social liberal economics is the idelogy of "trickle up economics" found in works ranging from Marx, to Mill to Keynes. It generally rejects both classical liberal economics and the economics of monopolies (both state backed and private). It seeks to use taxation, regulation, trust busting, and other progressive technologies to ensure a fair economy for all and to stave off economic inequality (even at the expense of using state power.

What NZ needs is a Ruth Richardson type of budget... that's how bad things are after 6 years of the worst government we've ever had. Unfortunately, despite their best intentions, it's hard to see the coalition government taking the tough decisions to turnaround the economy.

In some ways preparation and presentation are important for Ministers. Up close in different but crucial ways the core presenters and decision.makers of n the Bolger government were too rough and offered too little compensatory excitement in themselves or in policy liberalisation of the nation's traditional puritan, commonsense, belt and braces conservatism. Glamour, drama and excitement was absent.
