Such a lovely, peaceful video. What a beautiful hotel, the flowers on the tables were so pretty.I’m so glad Sophie could come. I am a fan of Jamie Oliver’s cooking, what a thoughtful gift he sent to you. I think your outlook for 2023 is an excellent one. Last Christmas I lost my mother. It has been a difficult year. So this year I have set no resolutions or goals, I chose a word instead. Pause. I am going to surround myself with those people and things I love . Yes you are very loved Nicholas and bring a great joy and teach us all to slow down and appreciate our families and friends and enjoy simple living. You've some big decisions to make about where you're going to live but I'm sure everything will fall into place for you. I love the country but I've been born to it and am a farmer now and also much older then you but I must say I had a brilliant time when I lived in London in my early 20s but you know Nicholas it's not actually a place I met anyone to go out with. I had to come home to Ireland and back to home base before I met anyone I wanted to go out with. Funny isn't it and all the millions of people in London. How nice to see you back again. As you were taking down the Christmas tree, I was thinking how nice that you decided on the wall art of Edinburgh. It was the perfect choice. And if you do decide to move, please give us some walking tours of Edingburgh before you go. I hope you stay. I think it's a beautiful city. I loved the National Art Gallery especially. And at 84 (soon 85), I still have tons of goals every new year. I never finish them (and never expect to), but I do so much more than if I just had a few which I could easily accomplish. i was about to say wow the tree held up well when i remembered it was artificial! great tree, it looked beautiful. tip for candle storage: wrap in plastic wrap individually, and store together in a zip top plastic bag. you can turn them to opposite ends and wrap snugly so they keep their shape during hotter months. darker colors can bleed color onto the drawer lining, so always wrap to store, even if you have a box.

Good to see you back. I’m glad you and Sophie had a pleasant stay in London. You’ve got me intrigued about Jamie Oliver’s new cookbook. Most recipes seem to serve 4-6 and when you live alone that isn’t ideal. You end up getting tired of eating the same thing for several days, it goes bad or you have to freeze it. Your current home is so lovely. Everything has its special place. I’m sure you’ll make the right decision whether to stay or go.

I love this expectation /no expectations and maybe attitude. I do like to go back home after vacations, you could live anywhere, but as you mentioned, since transportation are not reliable, I don't think the country side is the ideal for your lifestyle. You can always visit the country side, because rainy days are extremely long when you live by your own in the middle of nowhere

Lovely as always to hear from you ❤, Nicolas! The Langham looks delightful; you stay in the finest of accommodations. We've taken down our Christmas things as well. It's a bitter sweet joy cleaning up, as one wants to hold on to the tangible memories as long as possible. Some of my wife's family had Christmas meals with us, and she delighted us with her cooking. It was very cold here in Canada 🇨🇦 over the holidays; thankfully, it has warmed considerably.; it is funny that you mentioned your Mom complaining about heating costs, as heating costs have doubled here. Otherwise, the Christmas Season was wonderful. Please do include us in your Birthday Celebrations in January. God Bless A

Thinking of that cookbook purchase…it reminds me of cooking with Julia Child. Have you seen the film Julia Julia. It about A young person who cooks 1 recipe a day from her cookbook starting with page 1, as it’s designed to teach & tackle culinary skills, starting with basic & gradually gets more difficult as you move through the book with the most challenging at the end. Completion is like completing professional courses at the famous Cordon bleu chef school. The film shows 1 persons attempt/journey is very entertaining. I’m going to treat myself to another watch on this very rainy day.

Happy New Years, welcome back. Like you I have OCD about leaving out holiday decorations. I put on an audio book and take my time of breaking down the tree and wrapping all my ornaments in paper towels to prevent chipping and keeps the dust off. When I put away my special holiday China/glasses I wash them and wrap them in paper towels. When I go to use them again it saves me a step of cleaning and setting up my table. I do enjoy your adventures in Edinberg and would miss you filming from there. Relocating is overwhelming take your time I'm sure you'll choose wisely.
