"Eyes Wide Shut" Is treated like some edgy, sleazy, major, "provocative" Film when it's really not. It's a straight forward, wonderfully psychologically complex mystery drama that is as straight forward in its themed as it gets. A movie for grown ups. Not some shock value "erotic thriller" As it was marketed/talked about.

@@87Tempests Yeah I think you're right. But even so it still holds the world record for longest continuous film shoot. It's one of my favorite Kubrick films...but it's too much. A studio telling him no every once in a while wouldn't be the worst thing. What he did to Shelley Duvall was reprehensible. She was too sensitive for that and he should've known better. Looks like he was trying to do something similar here.

Sydney Pollock who was in the film even said it doesn't get better after a certain point, but Kubrick's obsession with every detail is why his films look the way they do. There is for sure some great shots in there.
