James Fisher Nicole went half a note lower on the first high note. And then at 2:44 she hit a D6, which is higher than what Mariah hit on that part of the song. But there are background high notes on the original track up to A6 I think... so Mariah still went higher on the song lol

Richard Big She actually has hit an A6 live in the song. She did it at least twice on the Charmbracelet tour in 2003 And the OP wasn't talking about head voice or whistle register, he was just talking who went higher... so the answer is Mariah.

In my opinion, Nicole's voice is the best voice to sing this song. It just sounds so natural, I like Mimi's version and all but I prefer Nicole's voice for this song, and plus that head voice at the end, that makes it that much better because that was not in the original! Wish it was just Nicole who sang it, Mel B not so hot

Richard Big Tbh, she probably could if she wanted to. The highest note Nicole hit in this is a D6. Mariah sustained the same note in head voice live in her song Infinity a few times the other year.
