My hobby is watching KZbin videos on Mexico, LOL, and I have to say you both bring such joy and genuine enthusiasm to your videos. It makes me want to see more! I've traveled to many locations in MX, and after seeing this Vlog - I must go to San Cris ! Thanks for sharing !!

I’ve bought guidebooks and maps, no hating on the analog OG🤣and I’ve been doing my homework but with all that said I’m gonna use your Mexico videos as a valuable resource for my months long trip to Mexico in 1/2025. Thank you friends👍🏻👏🏻🙏✌🏻🤙🏻

Never have I ever wanted to go to one place in a different country and stay a month than I do now. You made this place sound like a place anyone would like to make a home for even a little while. And the AirB and B is so inviting. I’m ready for the trip. Lol. P.S. The next video…. Wow! Can’t wait! 😮😊

It’s so interesting as we travel through Mexico we’ve encountered so many places where we feel like we could just stay here forever. It’s so sad to leave but then we just find the next place is just as good if not better. San Cristobal definitely falls in that “hard to leave” category haha. So glad you enjoyed and we’re excited to share the next one with you. A LOT of natural beauty coming up🥰⛰️💦

20 de noviembre (november 20th) is the day in which Mexico commemorates its Revolution, which is why you keep finding markets and streets named that. Also, the chocolate candy was likely tamarind with chili, which is pretty much the most ubiquitous Mexican candy of all (you'll find that Mexico and the Philippines (and generally speaking, Asia) share so, so, so many flavors and ingredients, to the point where their origin is often uncertain). (And the monkeys were Mexican spider monkeys, which are critically endangered.)

Thanks so much for the info! We always noticed the street names but never knew why they’re called that way but now we know. Also so good to know what those tamarind candies are. I knew we tasted them before and Asia makes complete sense! Thanks for watching 😊

Lovely video as usual! We miss San Cristobal so much! It was our first real travel love destination and we keep discussing going back. We stayed 3 months there in 2021. It's such a magical place.

Thank you for showing the markets & giving their names so that I could plot them on my G Maps! 😅 Great video! Cañon del Sumidero is beautiful. I went there about 20 years ago and loved it.

So glad you found the map names helpful to plan your own trip. I bet the canyon was even more incredible and untouched 20 years ago - it must have been unreal!

The state of Chiapas has a lot of autonomous zones, it is an interesting situation. I wonder if that small church is over an ancient pyramid like in Cholula.

It really is so interesting. We visited Chamula church (we didn't end up including it in the video as it's prohibited to film most of the interesting parts of the church/town) and learned so much about the way that many communities in Chiapas are self governing. It's an incredible place to visit and learn about the cultures :)

When in Playa we were told that Chiapas is the 'China' of Mexico. When visiting Mexico I would rather purchase Mexican made rather than Chinese made

The monkeys you saw in the canyon are spider monkeys. There are many of them in the area. If you love this surrounding, I recommend visiting Palenque or even Calakmul on your way back. Both have Maya temples/ruins like Chichen Itza but are in the middle of the forest that reminds of a rainforest. Hopefully with your spanish lessons in Guatemala you will be able to understand a tour like this. Thanks for a great video!

I was in San Cristobal de las Casas over 30 years ago. When I saw your vlog preview last week and the Sumidero Canyon, I remembered that I was there back then too. It was so beautiful. I look forward to your great vlogs every week. I love them. : ))

I thought you mentioned in your last video that you need records or something for Evie. I’m wondering how you’ll get the vehicle back to Canada since I seem to remember you won’t be able to drive back through Mexico. I’m also wondering how far y’all are planning to drive. Don’t forget that the Darien Gap will keep you from driving down to South America. I’m Andrew. Y’all gave me some advice a while ago about my soft tissue anchors in my Achilles. As well as traveling with my bipolar meds. Both are much appreciated.

Sometimes the canyon is so polluted with tons of garbage that the boats get stuck. I wish the people who take tourists on boat rides and profit from the experience would also take care of the resources and would clean up the canyon. No tourist wants to see garbage.

San Cristobal was also one of my favorite places in Mexico.I also noticed all the garbage in the canyon it was sad to see.You see all the crocodiles in the river then go around a bend and there's kids swimming.Did you go to the burping church?
@nicoleandmico
@nicoleandmico 3 ай бұрын
Awesome to hear we aren't alone in our love of San Cris! By the burping church, do you mean Chamula? If so, we did visit but ended up not including it in the video as so much of the area it is prohibited to film, so we couldn't do it justice through our lens. It was an incredible experience though. We loved learning about the independent communities who have lived here for so long and fought to keep their culture and language

The 'chocolate' candy was tamarind & chili. It's the mainstay flavor combination in México. They even put that around the rim of some adult beverages. You're really going to need to visit Copper Canyon (las barrancas del cobre) on your way home. Be sure to get to the adventure park in Divisadero (Chihuahua)!
