I have just finished my homework. 継続は、I have lived in NY for 10years. 経験は、I have been to NY . つまり、完了と継続、それぞれを区別して理解するように習っています。

That’s true. If I think the grammar during the conversation, I can’t follow the conversation and I always freak out. I realize that I always say the sentences which I’m used to . So l just have to get used to it ,let my mouth do the work. Thank you for a great lesson as always.

That's right. If you can think of as many expressions as possible as chunks or "塊”, and get used to grammar by making and saying as many example sentences as possible, it's much easier to speak!

I quitのところ、禁煙はどう?→やめた(I quit)だと、禁煙をやめたと直訳では誤解しそうになります。quitはsmokingに対してかかるから喫煙をやめたという事なのですが、no smoking (禁煙)をやめたと誤解する事は英語ではあり得ないのでしょうか?人によっては誤解するという事がたまにあるとかないのでしょうか。
I'm just wondering. I thought if we use "able to", we need "be 動詞”. Is that possible we can use "able to" without "be 動詞”?
@ニック式英会話5 жыл бұрын
Oh no!!!! I made a mistake!! I read "be able to" verbally, but there is a typo! Thanks for noticing!! I want to say "I was testing you" but I just made a careless mistake. Thanks for the heads up!

I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it. の文章ですが、 最初の例示の部分では、 I was worried I wouldn't able to do it. と、be がはいってなくて、 説明の部分では、 I was worried I wouldn't be able to do it. と、be が入っています。 これはどちらが正解なんですか?
Riuko Hamasaki Hi Nick I found your movies recently. You are a wonderful teacher! There are many things I've not known. By the way when I was watching your movie titled "English pronunciation and grammar " (stop smoking and losing weight #4) one question came up in my mind. That is the end of A's words, "I wouldn't able to do it." Does this sentence lack "be" after "wouldn't"? I thought you are a native speaker so you never make such a mistake. It is me who make a mistake. Plus several hundred thousand people watched this movie, therefore someone must have pointed that already if that is a mistake. I'm so embarrassed writing this. "Able" can be a verb in this sentence? Please explain about that. Thank you.
The other day I visited my father's place and noticed his car disappeared. I asked him what happened to his car. He said he sold it and quit driving turning 80. I asked if he returned his license. He said he didn't and that all he did was not renew it. I was so relieved to hear that but then I felt a little bit sad. I'm glad he gave up driving but at the same time I miss him taking me to many various places in his car.
