This song is about the Thirty Years War. The English version is a general overview of the war while the Swedish version is from the point of view of a single Swedish soldier. The album Carolus Rex was written in English and Swedish. Some songs are identical no matter what language it is but some songs are entirely different. 1648 from them is different the English version is from the point of view of the citizens of Prague; while the Swedish version is from the point of view of the Swedish soldiers laying seige to the city.

As a Swede, it's always nice to see people from other nations discover and enjoy music from 'my' country. Sabaton has a TON of good songs, and most of the Swedish ones are available in English as well - even tho I think they are always better in the native tongue. (Well.. I'm biased. ;) )

Night Witches is a cool story as well. Women fighting the nazi invasion in the coolest possible way. And they took a lot of casualties too. Real heroes. It helps to know that story from at least Wikipedia before watching the video on it with lyrics. En Livstid i Krig is indeed one of their softer songs, more like a ballad about the useless casualties of war. Most of their other songs are pure power metal. Joakim is a baritone and his range and style makes it sound very deep.

You have some catching up. 8 of their 9 albums over the last 20 years are about Military History. Most of their songs are in English but the Carolus Rex album has both Swedish and English versions. Try To Hell and Back - it is about Audie Murphy, the most highly decorated US Army officer in WWII and a survivor of PTSD. Audie's son thanked them for doing a non-C&W song about his father. I have yet to hear a bad song from them.

You have a lot of catching up to do!🤘😄 This band has been around for 21 years! I dare to say that they are the greatest Swedish rock band with a lot of fans around the world. Half of the European tour (including this concert) were sold out, London, Berlin among others. They actually were in Copenhagen about 2 days before this one. I coudn't get time off from work that day, so I went to their show in Oslo instead, the day after this. They were awesome! (I live not too far from the Danish border... 😊). For your next reaction I recommend "Lion from the North" (official music video), "Carolus Rex" (live from Stockholm, 2020, Swedish version or official lyric video, English or Swedish versions). Also check out "Bismarck" (official music video). Sabaton's songs are history lessons. They don't take political sides, they just tell a story.

Trevligt att se er Danskar här . Sabaton är ett av världens största Powermetalband . De har en enormt stor fanbase "Sångerna Konungens Likfärd" och "Ruina Imperi"i är liknande typer av lugnare sånger...även om 90% av deras allra bästa är betydligt snabbare . Jag har inte hittat någon lika bra livevideo till dessa 2 sånger ...Men det finns bra "Fansvideos" till dessa båda 2. Jag tror att ni kommer att gilla dom! :-) . Sabaton sjunger om historiska händelser runt omkring på jorden,. Just denna skiva "Carolus Rex" handlar om Sveriges stormaktstid för ca: 300 år sedan... vad som möjligen gjort Sabaton så stora är att de nästan aldrig väljer sida i sångerna... utan berättar en historia om hur det var - ofta från en soldats synvinkel. Störst är bandet naturligtvis i Norden (Sverige,Norge,Danmark och Finland)...men de är även ett av Polens mest populära band. Se gärna deras live video från "Woodstock i Polen från 2012".... Sångerna "Uprising" och "40:1" med flera.

I don't know if Sabaton done a song about the wars between Denmark and Sweden. The Nordic countries is now a days very good friends even if the friendship might be a bit strained in this times with the health issues of the world. Historically it have been a lot of wars specially between Denmark and Sweden. The closest might be "Carolus Rex" but that song is about the Swedish king Carl XII that was in war with Denmark-Norway, Poland And Russia.

You started with one of their slower songs, it’s definitely a good one and if you want to hear how it sounds when it gets fast I’d recommend the Red Baron or Night Witches, but Bismarck is probably better to get a feel for their sound.

Was there right in the middle, and the crowd sounded even louder back there. It was actually just about a week before Covid hit so it turned out to be the last concert for quite a while, pretty happy I got to experience this because there have been far to manny cancelled and postponed shows after this. One reason why the crowd went all in was that Jocke (the lead singer) started a contest between Gothenburg and Stockholm (the next tour date). The entrie verse you started to translate would roughly be "Because war can, destroy a man. I give my life for my homeland. But who will miss me. So see me as, a husband, a friend, a father and son who never returns home. But who will mourn for me". If you want more swedish metal try Amaranthe that where with Sabaton on the same tour. Viral is a new song from them that you might like.

Can not compare the English and the Swedish versions. The texts are completely different. To understand the Swedish version you need to translate the text from Swedish not listen to the English version.
