I've been playing final fantasy 14 online since it's launched and Shadowbringers brought in the NieR raid I lost my mind. So I decided to purchase NieR Automata on 04/21. Played it to 100% completion on 11/24/21. And when the PlayStation store had NieR Replicant I purchased it that day and now I'm playing it pretty much still in the beginning. But I will complete it to 100% because I love Yoko Taro's games from Drakengard to NieR which I did not know he designed that game as well. I picked it up NieR Replicant once it was available to purchase. I have NieR lore, figures and posters. I don't know what Yoko Taro did to me from his games but I am spending a lot of money on NieR products and I don't care.

Well not really. Unlike other developers, Yoko actually is just honest saying she's designed that way cause that's what he's into.

In another interview, Yoko says the first request character designer D.K was given for Kainé's design was "something to cover her half-Shade body that is weak to sunlight" and feminine. D.K interpreted this to mean "covering one arm, one leg" and drew several women in lingerie. While surprised by the results, Yoko liked the striking image it created and pushed through other developers' hesitations to make it a target for finalization. This is from the wiki. I also find the contrast to be extremely striking, and I personally consider that the main reason she wears that is basically a sign of defiance to basically the whole Aerie.

Nah, i freaking love kainé, my favourite character in the franchise, and her story makes a lot of sense, plus it was written before they decided to go with that final design... But it's still a dumb outfit and they could have told the same message with a less stupid one! I don't mind it that much cause it make sense in the context of the story, but i'm not about to excuse it
