Manuel Nieto SL of Spain Chaman Bushcraft knife. Made from Sandvik 14C28N knife specific stainless steel and Curly Birch scales, this handsome knife is well appointed with a superb fit and finish, further complimented by a well sewn functional leather scabbard. This latter item can be carried either with a dangler, traditional belt carry or even via Molle straps! The Chaman Bushcraft looks right at home in the wilds around the camp and not only looks good but performs very well too. My other 14C28N knives are great too. The Chaman Bushcraft is a full flat grind drop point knife and sits well in the hand for some powerful strokes, as the handle is narrow and able to be gripped very well despite it's smooth profile. The Curly Birch scales are fitted via stainless steel bolts. For me, the Chaman Bushcraft would make a very nice little camping and hiking knife. It was well capable of splitting some very hard hazel, could carve well, easily strike a fire steel with the butt end of the knife, prepare food around camp and has as I stated above, a versatile carry system.
Totally recommend the Chaman Bushcraft if your in the market for a good quality camping knife.
There is also a Chaman Bushcraft with micarta scales functions as a fire bow drill top block. The tang is skeletonized/milled for a well balanced knife.

Excellent review, short and concise, and also the first video that I run across to thoroughly explain the use of that extra long leather strap on the back of the sheath.

I've recently come across your videos and truly enjoy them, detailed reviews and one can hear your experience with knives and the great outdoors. In your professional opinion and experience what is the best all round knife for slaughtering, butchering camping etc or should one get 2 knives and a chopper, waiting for your experienced opinion.
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 3 жыл бұрын
2 are best, a dedicated hunting type knife, size dependent upon game/ fish etc, skinning and butchering.This same knife should be able to double up around the camp kitchen/hut etc for food preparation. The second knife could be a much bigger knife and as you indicate a "chopper" in place of a hatchet, again, the design dependent upon the environment you are working in. Hope that helps. Your comments are much appreciated! Glad you like the channel, I try to present in depth reviews etc without the BS.

@@BushCampingTools million dollar question, which primary knife would you go out with and which chopper, condor village parang? I genuinely love your videos
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 3 жыл бұрын
@@moosa9850 I think if one lives in the tropics then a parang type knife is a useful blade if one knows how to use it other than just for chopping but as you indicate, yeah it would be a good chopper. A primary knife choice, again it depends upon what I was going to be doing and where I was going. Eg1., say out hunting, drive to site, park car then walk all day up to 30km round trip back to vehicle then I wouldn't be taking any knife with me other than a regular sized hunting knife. Eg. 2 out day hiking on known trails then again a medium sized knife to keep the weight down. Eg 3. 3 day or longer camping and hiking trip, no where near any vehicular access then maybe a slightly larger knife but not necessarily a chopper as i will be carrying everything on my back, eg tent sleeping back etc. Eg4. On a deserted island fishing and camping- need to be picked up by boat (dependent on environment) folding saw, multitool (if carrying other equipment etc) and much larger knife as you would be in one spot.

14c28n looks to be probably the best all around steel. Not too hard so it can be sharpened easily , 60hrc easy eventually 62 , very good toughness, corrosion resistant ...

very similar to the lionsteel M4. just not the premium m390. very nice with the liners. looks like a solid bushcrafter. I have several knives in 12c27 and 14c28 both are easy to sharpen and hold a pretty good edge.
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 7 жыл бұрын
Hi yeah, ur right, I never even thought about that. But there is of course a big price difference which reflects the 14C28N Vs the m390 LOL. I have to say though with guys I know who have some ZT's in 14C28N and I've got two other knives in 14C28N, it's not bad at all and I have no trouble with the edge holding capacity etc. Yes it is very nice with those red liners, it just makes it look the part.
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 7 жыл бұрын
Yes totally agree on your latter point, thanks for watching as usual.
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 7 жыл бұрын
Oh yeah, should have mentioned it would probably make not too bad a hunting knife, although the scales I'd probably roughen slightly or give it the old bees wax treatment to make it more grippy if the blood gets a bit much on the hands (although that means ones getting pretty clumsy prepping game LOL).

woow i like it a lot, the steel is easy to sharp? and what grind have?
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 7 жыл бұрын
The steel is fine to touch up. The edge is a basic straight beveled edge. The grind is full flat.

G'day Mate, great video and i love your channel. I saw another review with another Spanish knife, the Muela Kodiak Green Micarta Sandvik 14C28N. If I need to choose just one for Camping and Bushcraft, what do you think? The Nieto Chaman Craft Knife 14C28N reviewed here or the Muela Kodiak Micarta Sandvik 14C28N? Cheers and greetings from South America
@BushCampingTools
@BushCampingTools 5 жыл бұрын
Ah! They are all good knives. I think if you plan to get the knife wet a lot then go for the Micarta Muela, if not and you like the more natural look then the Nieto Bushcraft I reviewed here is good too. Both full flat grinds, same steel. My preference is with the Muela, I'm a bit rough on my knives but the wood scales looks like a "real knife" Greetings back to you from Australia!

Hello, I also ordered this knife, as you describe it as a big knife, the only doubt I have is on the tip, is it durable if it is subjected to hard work? Hi Michele

Hi this is a good knife but it isn't a "big knife" but a medium/small knife and very practical size. I'm sure you will like it.
