To interpret Nietzsche’s psychology as meaning that we are all fundamentally motivated by power is a crude and uninformed interpretation. What this means is that the drives themselves struggle for dominance. But the drives themselves are NOT the drive for “power”. There is a drive for power but there are other drives also. There is a drive for truth, or a drive for love. When Nietzsche calls the drives “wills to power” this means that each drive wants to meet its own ends. The charge that Nietzsche’s psychology is cynical because it says that human beings are only motivated by power comes from a lack of understanding. Nietzsche’s psychology wasn't cynical; it is the objection that is cynical not to mention highly uninformed. "Every single one of [the basic drives of humans] would like only too well to represent just itself as the ultimate goal of existence and the legitimate master of all the other drives. For every drive wants to be master..." - Nietzsche, BGE 6

That really puts things in perspective and changes my understanding about Nietzsche's philosophy. Ignorance is a clever deception.

I totally agree. Dr. Jordan Peterson is utterly wrong in his interpretation of Will to Power. To better understand it, "Will TO power" could be rephrased as "Volition TOWARDS the eminence of body and mind". Such Volition is not FREE (it can be inferred that Nietzsche does not adhere to free will) but a DRIVE, which in inherent to each of the sub-souls.

"When we criticize, we're not doing something arbitrary and impersonal; it is, at least very often, proof that there are living, active forces within us shedding skin. We negate and have to negate because something in us wants to live and affirm itself, something we might not yet know or see!" ~ Nietzsche

You are one who described master and slave morality in most simple words. Nietzsche is very hard to understand, but your videoes is very helpful to understand his philosophy.

I luv, 'it is the objection that is cynical not to mention highly uninformed'. I dig the harmonious connection between the triumvirate consciousness, language and reason.

As far as a philosopher doesn't use Scheinbegriffe (Carnap, Überwindung der Metaphysik durch logische Analyse der Sprache) finding something other than himself in his philosophy seems possible. But in this case he is not a philosopher anymore, he is a scientist.

What is the Will to Power (WTP) in your own opinion? For me , WTP is the freedom to manifest the inner being of Love within a person for improved growth and creation of kindness through harmonizing with other persons' WTP in accordance with justice and equity. WTP is the human manifestation of the essence of GOD whch are Love, Justice and Mercy

Lmao. That's like the anti-Neitzche characterization of the will to power.

THE ALL-POWERFUL How crude - how pacifyingly simple - is the notion of a "will to power"? Let us leave aside the partisan, that terminal weakling, who strives against the cosmos, in valiant futility, and seeks to harness horses beyond number to his tiny sled. All particulars, after all, are only symbols for The One And All; The Whole. What is the man in the arena, anyway, compared to Everything, of which he constitutes the merest particle, or merely the illusion of a part? Where is the contest, so forcefully alleged by him? The All Itself is no gladiator, with any to oppose "Him". Reality as such is not threatened by the possibility of subjugation, nor eager to increase "Her" strength. From herself she draws power; to himself he gives it. Do you see? Supposing there is unrest, what of it? Or if peace? Where is order or disorder? What is surfeited and what is starved? Within the greater framework of The Whole, distinctions must collapse into semantic underlings; enthusiastic, dissipating whims; seasonal conveniences, contingent on an ever-shifting landscape of - what? Vapor. And the vanity of man. One dreams of snatching golden rings, of scaling snowcapped peaks, in ecstasies of overcoming, and one wakes, that very instant, still in bed; the triumphant gesture reduced to stretching, reaching out; not in a brash, barbaric yawp, but in a yawn. The warrior cannot best his own requirement for rest. The cock can only celebrate the sun, as dawn goes down to day. Neither copulation nor ejaculation is eternal and continuous, for us; except insofar as we are allied and identified with All. Someone, somewhere, is always claiming victory. Do you doubt this? Could you ever overlook the universe, surely, you would see that flags are always being planted on moons, beyond counting. The crescendo of crescendos is occurring, even as the interlude of interludes drags on. Something is smoothed, that it may be ruffled, and something ruffled that it may be smoothed. Together, endlessly, the opposites reside, and change their places in a dance, too intricate and vast for mortal eyes. Who has, or who presumes, authority even to be still or to despair? The play goes on, and he who does not drive himself is driven on. Nature bows to nature. In separate souls, the springs and winters come, according to so many, hidden calendars. Fate takes us for fools and takes us for a ride; those who are determined to laugh had better laugh along. Truth wins, no matter what, and no man has it to himself, nor keeps the truth locked up, in a personal vault. Without exception, all of us are false, but the most nearly honest are the ones who bow to the reality of truth. And you might say, "It is only a human ideal," but I may ask you, in my turn, "Just who declares it so?" Backwards, sidewards, inwards, stretched and split, you sought the grave of God. Fairies danced on your brain, when you dreamt of dancing on this grave. Nowhere, nowhere to be found, is that modern (all-too-modern), postmodern or posthuman, burial ground. Who can locate the corpse, for us? Only broken idols are interred. God attends such funerals in giddiness, and smiles at the plaintive dirges he has heard, infinite times before. These idols, too, will be recycled, by the very soil, and spit up. Tin soldiers mark their ranks and stand saluting to the vulgar bugles. Civilizations in torrential downpours make their way into the gutters and the drains. Elsewhere, in some undiscovered galaxy, their steepled monuments are, just now, being crowned in gossamer and gold. O Sisyphean rebel, bolder than the boulder, pacing and compounding your own path, or glimpsing the untrod horizon for an instant, only to look homeward: Angel, and immortal life-giver, eating out your liver, sharing with the eagle... May you find your peace, your war, whatever you are looking for. The All has blessed you to become what you have been.

You just proved that Nietzsche is a fool who couldn't adequately explain what he means . If will to power doesn't mean dominating others why does he call it will to power? Nietzsche is a failed philosopher. For all his words he fails to walk the talk. He failed to master his own will to power and died insane. I boil Nietzsche down to "to do as I say, not what I did to my life!'😂

Just like Marx, who came to be known by accident after the French so-called communal revolution, there’s nothing interesting about what Nietzsche said when assessed in this day and age. Maybe people in his day who weren’t exposed to Darwin’s discoveries admired Nietzsche’s words, but he himself heard of those discoveries, although nothing of his writings suggest he understood them. Even today, people who are detached and unfamiliar with biology and other sciences read Nietzsche and hilariously think of him ahead of his time and even ahead of our time 😂
