This was so beautiful and well expressed. The ultimate openness of Nietzsche to some better source of belief, meaning, and value. Also his appeal to a /small/ area of meaning to be cultivated with effort, and the necessity of /moderation/ for the highest strength of will. Nietzsche's ultimate aim was really so constructive, and all his destructive critiques were an attempt to carve a new opening towards a better understanding and a better life.

@andreab380 I think that encapsulates Nietzsche's intention quite well. He thought we needed new values that weren't ultimately self defeating. His philosophy is constructive like you said.

The material is too sophisticated for the subscriptions to blow up but the production value is up there with channels with a million+ subs.

Nihilism isn't that there is no meaning or value, but that there is no inherent meaning or value, all meaning and value resides in the individual. The meaning and value others give you is false (or unnecessary, though you could choose to adopt it, ie culture).

I have not read "Will to Power." The prevalent claim is that it is not true canon, however, these quotes you provided seem to be consistent with all I have read of Nietzsche hitherto. You have inspired me.

Great content as usual, background music is completely the wrong style and distracting though.

Wonderful topic. Nietzsche has been misunderstood also on nihilism. One comment: the background music is off mark. It distracts. Was the intention to add a chorus like in Greek tragedy?

N. conflated to a certain extent the ism for the ist. He felt a Strong Need to Properly Identify the larger thing that gave all life meaning. He _couldn't_ be satisfied with it being *unknowable.* He simply could not _reconcile himself_ to that even as a possibility. This to me was his greatest fault. As a result, not only did what he predicted come true, he _could have_ tried to prevent it through his philosophy. He *_knew_* people *would seek* to replace that vacant space left by God's pronounced death in their subconscious with something just to fill it. & if we can justify our inhumanity to each other via A, we're sure af going to continue doing that for B. We're doing it now.

I was told repeatedly that God would fill the "gap" yet I was unaware there was a gap to be filled. Is this gap an inquiry of purpose, the meaning of life, the universe and everything? If that is the gap then sure I had those questions none of which were solved by religious tenure or any god. I now know it is nothing more than desire/wishful thinking that creates this false pitfall in which people seek to fill as a "gap." However, that which does not exist cannot be filled unless perhaps it is filled with a non existent being in a non existent realm of the mind. If it is, however, a void of values, this too cannot be accomplished due to the subjective nature of humankind. Nietzsche says the greatest happiness for the greatest number is meaningless, because happiness means something different for each person. There will never be an objective solution in a society or race of people as subjective diversity is inherent to the human condition. The greatest attempt at a solution for building a table of values that I am aware of is the "Veil of Ignorance." Waiting for the Overman may be tantamount to waiting for a god. Not even the Christian God could create a stable table of values henceforth the new covenant, ergo I am not holding my breath for these "new values." Value is in the eye of the beholder!
