Found out that if you use the VST2 version of Span (not the VST3 version), you can use it with sidechain and set it upp so that you have the reference and your master in real time together.

Reference 2 is designed for this, and it is about the same price as the span plus… Perhaps you want to check that out before you spend your hard earned...
