Nigel the 1977 MGB seat tear down

Pointers on how to disassemble the seats in a 1977 MGB.
In preparation of our new leather seat covers, we have removed the old torn covers, and restored the frame, and mechanism.
Hope this helps anyone thinking of recovering their seats.

The butt detector switch is for the seatbelt alarm that you will find in the back of the center console. It was originally in both seats

Only 12 mins. in but since the seat covering is being discarded, running a razorblade along the piping would make quick work of getting off I would think.

Probably right, but did not want to damage the cushions. I had looked up the price on those prior to the task, and decided to try to save the cash if at all possible. Which was why I ultimately repaired the drivers side cushion

Would it not be easier to first unbolt the back portion from the seat portion, and then work on each individually?

hmm... Not sure I follow you there. in this case, I think having leverage was easier. be sure to watch the second part it might be more clear when you see that.

How much of the acid prep to apply? Do you brush it on?
