Stunning at 60, yes being financially stable keeps the wrinkles away BUT she has had as many emotional challenges in her life as the rest of us, I find her profoundly comforting.

Yeah Botox and fillers keep wrinkles away too. Stop commenting on women's looks. Go comment on a man's 60 year old face and tell him to use face cream why don't you. Being non wrinkly isn't an achievement to celebrate in women. Stop commenting on women's looks as if it's the most important thing.

I'm 74 and. due to health issues, I simply can't eat Christmas. But I wouldn't accept an invitation to Christmas Dinner and start making demands.
@pmjohnston79874 жыл бұрын
I've been a (mostly) vegan for a few years now, for health reasons, but I was, in my younger years, often the host of family get-togethers. So I would combine 2 of the questions in one response : what to do with picky eaters & what to say when they ask what they can bring ~ as a vegan I like to bring something that I can eat & enjoy, and enough of it for everyone to at least try (and it Must then be delicious). And I add this on vegan chat sites too, when the conversation heads towards the "oh poor me, there was nothing I could eat at the party" stage. I start with : be glad you were invited, be a gracious guest, and contribute something.

Vegan stuff to have/add: White Beans with sage and olive oil. cook down (with salt, if you are not using canned) remove the "spent" sage, add some curated sage leaves at the last minute, finish with good olive oil, and black pepper, Great for crostini the next day. Never had a complaint from anyone.

Nigella is a gem. I loved her response to dealing with fussy eaters... I'm thoroughly sick and tired of adults who eat like toddlers with their self-imposed dietary restrictions (not talking of people with legitimate allergies or religious prohibitions). When I'm a guest at someone's home, I don't try to dictate their menu -- I eat what's served and at least pretend to enjoy it. I blame this food pickiness on why the dinner party has died.

Honestly as a picky eater when I was younger her advice is so right. I hated drawing attention to myself and what makes it worse is when people question you or try to OVER accommodate and go to extra trouble which then makes you feel guilty, eating was my issue you can just ignore it leave me to chill and I could happily enjoy the party atmosphere (and alcohol) without some of the food the last thing you want to feel like is a burden.

Speaking as an American who loves nigella, if you’ve got someone who doesn’t like Christmas pudding. You can easily Win them over with ginger bread, or a really big batch of cookies served with milk or hot chocolate. If you want to make it super holiday special with low effort; I live in the north east and molasses cookies are really popular here. Grab a store bought mix and make the cookies, and then turn them into sandwich cookies using ginger perseveres.
