Over 60, single, not dating???

I'm 69 and lost my husband of 38 years to heart failure 14 months ago. I AM NOT interested in dating whatsoever. Right now I'm content being by myself, volunteering and not "finding a man". I loved my husband with all my heart and would like that life back but since I have no choice, I'm moving forward and enjoying my own company. Just the thought of dating turns my stomach. No thanks! LOL

I'm so sorry for your loss:( I know what you mean about dating. I would still like a great guy in my life, but the dating process is something I just can't go through anymore. It's gotta be some kind of miracle where he arrives in my life without "guy hopping" to find him. Even then, don't know if I'd have the patience to put up with any crap from a man. It's a double edge sword to me because if I can't just be myself totally with him, looking great on days and looking like I just rolled out of bed on days, and he still wants to be with me, if it isn't that, then forget it.. 😊

Yes, it's scary now a days. Sometimes when a guy has flirted with me at the store or wherever, I just sort of walk away out of fear for many reasons. Don't know what will change that feeling. :( Happy Thanksgiving to you too. 😊

I loved this video, it had everything from despair to humor. I'm 58,and haven't dated since 06,and won't use apps anymore as well, so if it happens it will probably be a chance meeting. I was in my 40's,and used a dating agency where everyone made a5-7 minute video along with a short bio of yourself, and you would look through binders of photos,and fill out a card to request a date. Awful. Why is it when dating someone you feel like your dating their family, and friends as well...lol

I hope you find what you are looking for. You're a gorgeous, cultured, articulate woman and I can't believe your age. Pursue your passions & hobbies to always be where you'd like to be. You will cross paths, harmoniously, naturally and honestly with someone worth your time & who will never encumber you. Baggage does increase with age but if you catch someone in your travels who is as happy as you are to be there, the baggage isn't likely heavy nor invasive. :)

I don't know, if someone I just started dating purchased a nice necklace for me, remembering my favourite stones, I wouldn't care how if he had his secretary find it, he's busy working.

For me personally, if a man is too busy to take the time to buy a piece of jewelry for me, then what else will he be too busy for. Gifts are nice, but when there's no effort put behind it from the person giving it, it doesn't mean the same thing. He's now been divorced 3 times since I knew him, so I judged right on that one. 😊

your survival instinxts are wise and correct. thank goodness you filtered out all those strange people. i have a condition (aspergers) all my life, a very obvious case where i actually stuck out for it all my life, and am and was overall a loner, so i know am not mentally capable of maintaining another relationship.. i am easy to manipulate and trick anyway. i put my best in my marriage and i chose to divorce when it was time, and i cannot do this to myself again. the thing is i feel lonely all the time but it is relatively peaceful. my ex is getting married soon, about 8 years after the divorce.. i dont like or trust men in a romantic way anymore... i do wish men were capable of PLATONIC friendships because they are generally more fun than women. however i found out they are not capable of that.

There are good guys out there. I’m divorced and basically did not have companionship with my ex for many years. I’m sorry that you have met such terrible men. I haven’t tried dating sites because I’ve heard so many stories like yours. It’s sad. I think I am a quality guy and I’m hoping to randomly find someone like you. I’m a year older than you or your age. I’m at a loss for what to do.😔🙄 You are a composed intelligent person and I wish you well. A lot of creeps out there. I'm sure there are good guys, but they are hard to find. At my age so many have baggage that they can't let go of and that makes it impossible. I've just decided if it's meant to be it will happen, but I'll never go on dating sites again OR go looking. Thank you for the kind words, I do appreciate it. Well, I wouldn't go back that far, but some of the older traditional ways aren't so bad. But I'm thankful women are no longer expected to stick with a man no matter what. Used to be women had no say and they just lived with the miserable life they were in, thank goodness that's gone. 😊
