From a man's point of view...I have had to again learn to flirt, and I had to learn that in the beginning stages it is not personal, so I tend to flirt with women 50 and up....here is how I reconcile with myself if I get rejected...If I am attracted to you enough to put myself out there and flirt, I find you attractive. If I find you attractive, other men will also, so I always assume that you already have someone else in your life. So...why wouldn't you have someone else in your life. I get to practice flirting, have some fun, and eventually I will find someone that wants to talk. Margaret, this is great advice and I totally agree that you have to trust again.

I met my guy on Match. I went against convention and wrote him first which I had rarely done. We ended up going out a few times but he was in different place and we parted ways. IA year later I wrote him to say hi, how are you, we reconnected, fell in love and are now living together. Ladies... I had been single for pretty long time after my divorce and never thought I would meet someone let alone an amazing man with a huge heart full of love to give like him. I really really liked my independence but am willing to figure it all out with him. So, don't give up on love if that is your heart's desire.

I was recently visiting a friend in Florida who told me she had a wedding to go to on Saturday. As she sailed out the door, she said the bride is 102 and the groom is 96! Also stand in front of a mirror and stare into it, then crack a big smile. It will take years off your face and light it up. I pass men and women all the time who look like they just came from a funeral. Who wants to approach someone like that?

Senior Thrifter: Although men demand women to be young and pretty, and when one smiles, crows' kicks will certainly show.. I can easily chat with men, but that has never led to dating or courted. i think men need to take the initiative in order to feel they are pursuing what they want and ,as well as I as a woman need courtship,feeling seen and valued as a woman. My hardships burden me so much ,it takes an emotionally and spiritually mature man who can see beyond my crisis until I resolve it.

I was a Receptionist and when a man walked into the business I was friendly because that is what my job was and I flirted, not all men wear wedding rings so it is hard to know if they are married. Still a man didn't ask me to get a cup of coffee and I am not aggressive. I feel that a man should make the move to ask. He should have confidence. A man that is shy and doesn't make a move to ask me out is not someone I want to be with. I like confident men and I was taught to let men be the aggressors. I know things are different but, I feel as a lady, men can do that for women. I want a man not a little boy.

Sometimes I start the chat , if a guy is standing near me waiting for coffee or like you said in the hardware store or supermarket. I’ve been asked out in these places simply by being friendly . Men will chat with you anywhere if you are approachable. I have had a few dates this way , they weren’t for me but I responded that’s the key . Cheers 😊💞💞

I've started conversations with loads of men, just asking questions about you-name-it: what's the best coffee here, which way to the picnic, is this a library with a reference section, etc. The possibilities are endless. They advise you, which they love to do, and you say "Okay! Thanks so much!" and walk away. Which allows them to chase you. You've broken the ice; now it's easier for them to come up and say something like "So, how come I haven't seen you here before?" or whatever they use to keep the conversation going.

I Love to flirt!! Yes, I often make the first move, just by feeling more comfortable to be spontaneous than a lot of people in general. Whoever has the easier time of it should go for it (first) I always think... I flirt with both men and women, it’s about loving life I think. I didn’t pick anyone up with flirting per se, but each exchange added years to my life im sure, as it’s just fun. Anyone that can flirt or respond to that (most can’t comfortably) socially, is already ready for more of life & the right person for them has to be closer.... It just gives confidence, it’s nothing to do with age in my opinion. Go for it, sand enjoy every second!

Ladies, may I recommend dancing as a great way to meet older men socially and get to know them gradually. The comments that some men are shy at first is correct, especially for widowers and this also gives us men the time to get to know you and increases our confidence to ask for a date. There are many different styles of dancing which do not require you to attend with a dance partner, you can go along as a single person as many thousands do. I have found the weekly classes and dance events to be very supportive which, in turn, builds on that need to begin to trust once more.

I think it does not have to be either or. To be trusting is a two edged sword, scamming is a huge problem. The world now is a different world before internet took the world by a tsunami, a technology that is affordable by many. Our laws and policing force have not been able to keep up. Ie catfish, dating women /menfrom 3rd world countries or vastly different cultures with different values and other agendas. That is not how life used to be. And this is presenting with a lot of problems: some aged women crying in their cup of tea over some fake "dream military officer" that needed money (yours usually) b/c of some "situation" came up, these internet "entities" cleaned out these women's accounts just to feed these women's desire to be admire(d) or looked after. They got "looked after" alright, no kidding. Talk is cheap, no it is very expensive for the victim. Also, the economics have changed out there, meaning gap between have and have nots have increased, that plays in as well. Some are looking to be "saved". Some are looking for a "nurse". Another topic. Some have abused their health through life with bad habits, and now hoping somebody who lived responsibly will pick them up and save them. I have worked in health care and have seen how unhealthy living habits/addictions do to humans, people that should be out there living are cared for in assisted homes long before they should be. Another financial factor, credit cards. Way too easy credit, so those not thinking through what credit really is, thinking it has been a "gift". These are the ones that have lived beyond their means, had their "fun", not taken the time and effort to be frugal and save for that rainy day (old age), it would be a jackpot for them to meet the lifelong frugal girl, or well off man, to be fair. INternet is a like a candy store for many, no shame b/c of anonymity, so many "choices", and ease. Internet has made it "easy" to meet people, but it is a playground for criminals/gigolos too that search out romance seeking older women/men, or lonely persons. This sounds all doom and gloom, but I think the game is different when you have "ran your race" in life. I would say, approach dating with optimistic caution. You may meet a very nice person, but maybe not. So what to do? Work on your thinking/attitude, don't put all your happiness eggs in one basket, have them spread out in various areas, ie: a pet, good friends, family contact, interests, hobbies, fitness, belief system of some sort, nurture good health, yoga, meditation, quest to learn new things, stay active. I am not anti man, just being aware/awake/alert. Ok... I guess this turned into an essay. Oops.

Reflect thank you for your post. I believe Margaret should talk more about this subject. I have had male friends yes it happens to men too. That this has happened to. @@verabozinovski2827 HI Vera, Thanks for your reply. It is an interesting subject, kind of telling of human nature: need to be loved, and those using that need for immoral/criminal actions. I think, at this time, the answer lies in learning to love oneself, respect oneself, honour oneself. If those ducks are in order, I think one would be more proofed against criminals. But I realize sometimes people are in vulnerable periods of their lives and more easy target. So online dating, or search for "love", is a minefield and if you are in a vulnerable time of your life, avoid getting into this dicey area, especially online. Scammers are not just individuals, they are many times internationally organized criminals, with big accounts (names/addresses of "babes), meaning the little nice lady/man is merely a number. If they can turn that "love key" on, that opens the door to the vault fast.

Generally, men are more direct and blunt in their conversations and approach to others. It would feel perfectly normal to me if a lady made the first invitation for a social event. By the way, I have dated younger ladies and discovered that I prefer someone who is reasonably close to my age simply because we have more generational commonality.
@luisabatistasamora10 ай бұрын
Definitely! I've never been shy to smile and connect with people in general (this may be cultural: I'm Dutch, LOL). The pros and cons of this are that men will think you are interested in them. 😀 Like the coach you mentioned said: men can be shy or intimidated by women, and they don't want to be looked at as a predator, which will keep them from making the first move. My husband and I have been together for about 20 years now. We used to be in primary school together and reconnected when we were in our early forties. So... I'm not looking for dating advice, but I was curious about this video because I have a few single girlfriends who are dating. Your advice is pretty good. SO true that women need to make the first move. In a way, it's a relief as it's unlikely that a guy you're not interested in will become assertive - sparing you a 'no'! If you're interested, yes! Flirt! It's not chasing. You're just taking the initial initiative! I tend to be the initiator until 2 dates have passed. If he doesn't pick up the ball after that, he's not assertive enough for me or isn't 'into' me. Smile and be expressive! Be open; be out there; but be content in having a great time whether you meet someone or not!

I am age 63 and I believe women need to approach men and initiate. Because women these days based on a rape culture society always act scared and alarmed or they treat us men as the old biased thinking of Oh wow that guy just tried to hit on me! This makes us men feel disgraced and makes us angry, to be categorized as some damn dog looking for prey How would you women like it if times you tried to talk to me, they cringed and flexed and walked off and told other men OH wow she tried to hit on me, what a dog. Get my point? So us men arelookedat as prey mongers until we prove otherwise with time. Thats why me at age 63, I dont bother with women any longer

@@debrafrei4717 It has affected togetherness as in people getting together. I have lived in the same suburban neighborhood as single for 16.5 years and know men in age ranges that vary that went on to other things and dont bother at all. I see too much of this to not know how women are losing the responsible men. The type men women are attracting today is men that have no self respect and dont mind being the ATM dog. Based on how humans treat other wittles them down to only certain types that dont mind being degraded. I dont see it as sad though, because men like myself are happier that simply disengage and just do what we want

It is perfectly acceptable for a woman to make the first move. Working in a dominate male environment, I am comfortable striking up a conversation. On-line dating has a way of restructuring the path of moving forward once you meet someone who is interested in me. And then there is the physical attraction, either lack of, which is a deal breaker, or both are mutually attracted. After agreeing to meet again, and this is where I am clueless... do most people reach out just to say hello? I reached out once, and now I wait for a positive response. It has been days since I last heard from him. So now what?

this is very refreshing, I think women were exploited and the underdog up to a few years ago and the balance of power was made more equal, women wanted that and rightly so, but maybe it has actually gone too far? Women no expect a lot from men and in a lot of cases to do and offer nothing in return, except that they are a woman. Good relationship are those of an equal footing where two people accept each others autonomy.

I am 76. If I want the attention of a man I simply do my hair in a soft feminine way, wear a sweet dress and nice shoes and give every guy I encounter a beaming, very friendly smile. The guys at my local gas station love it when I stop buy, chat with me with a big smile and they are half my age. EVERY GUY responds to it with a surprised smile and does anything he can to show me his appreciation. Make it a habit to chat with strangers while you are flying by. Just talk. I'm German. American women act way too entitled. How else would you explain that my male friends do more for me in big ways than most women's boyfriends or even husbands? (You can't blame everything on a slight Foreign accent.) Or that there is always a guy ready for a relationship with me, if I want it or not? Loosen up ladies! It's not going to kill you to give a little! I have been all over the world and American men are the best in the world, no kidding. Since women in my age outnumber men by far you better try a little harder and give them a bit of encouragement. Do you want a guy or not?
