@@FishTheLegend Im taking my son (12) for his first ever fishing trip of any kind.....kinda like straight from T-ball to MLB... I just want to see him get a tuna....any size will do, but a 50 plus would be nice. Love my son, but I want to see him get "worked" a little.......... First fish a big fat Toona....be nice.

Thanks guys. So if a fish raps around the prop and no deckhands around, I should immediately put the reel in free spool and allow the fish to free itself? Is that correct?
@FishTheLegend Жыл бұрын
When the fish gets under the boat try to get the tip of the rod as low as possible! If it does get wrapped in rudder or prop going in free spool can save you sometimes like it did in this case
@ahmadghanem2414 Жыл бұрын
What if the fish goes underneath the boat toward the opposite side , now what would the best way to save it and not have the line rub against the edge ? Lost a big one few years to the same problem
@FishTheLegend Жыл бұрын
That is a very hard situation especially in a good bite. Obviously its best to try to get around the boat if possible. When a fish takes you to the other side deckhands can try to use the Y to keep you from rubbing or getting wrapped in the Sonar, rudder or props. What we ended up doing on this trip was splicing the line as we snagged it on the other side of the boat. There is also a trick where you can slide a sinked down your line while in free spool and try to follow it all the way around

When you're talking about the different line weights, you are referring to the leader correct?

Correct!

I love watching our content, it's great mental preparation for a fishing trip. I'm also taking the opportunity to get physically prepared. It's great you guys are there as a back up,but I like Landing my own fish. 😊 We'll see you guys July 21-23.

When dropping on the slide how heavy do you go?
@FishTheLegend Жыл бұрын
For the colt sniper or zakana i think guys were using like 120-160 gram. Or are you asking line size?

What is the “slide”?
@FishTheLegend3 ай бұрын
When the boat isn’t yet set up on a school & it keeps “sliding” as it settles into the drift. The boat “slides” as it comes to a stop.
