After this clip Dan winds up reading the next case incredibly fast to make it under the deadline and goes off to meet his date for the night only to find she's turned Dan down because she wants a man who takes his time with things. And winds up going home with Mr. Tuttle, or as Dan called him, "Skippy the Wonder Slug". John Larroquette was the best. It's a shame he never really did much after this.

I just don't understand how shows like this were ever popular. Hacky, cheap jokes, dry humor. Most 80s and 90s shows ran on the common, easy to read joke format. I saw every punchline before it happened. First word out that guys mouth and yep it's a whole bit about him talking slow and them wanting to get out of court. Only funny to people who like knock knock jokes.
@videos4mydad4 жыл бұрын
I can appreciate your analysis. I think the "cutting edge" writing that we enjoy today on various platforms is due to the shift in culture and the varied outlets that have been made available to creators thanks to a decentralized internet. We have a LOT more voices and now just about anyone can have a stage if they choose. There is a saying that "nothing is new under the sun". There are only a few dozen jokes - and everything else is a variation on a theme. I was in my teens when this show aired, and now I look mostly back on it in nostalgia. I agree with you that some of these jokes are better than others - but the acting of the likes of John Larroquette and the dimensions it brought to "Dan Fielding" is just great. Sometimes, yo just got to enjoy a show for what it is.

@gamernotvalid94524 жыл бұрын
@@LordFuzzy32 Wait so I wouldn't survive the 80s because I wouldn't be able to watch a TV show? Pretty low standards but alright. Did it take you 3 weeks to think of that? I don't like the show and that's my personal opinion, but as far as saying most of those shows had common, easy to follow joke formats; well that's called widening your demographic. You don't want complex jokes that take several episodes to unravel because viewers aren't going to be interested in that. You want easy repetitive jokes a large demographic can understand.
