Is there a reason why you keep them penned up at night, because I let my horses roam the pasture all the time?

Yes there is, these are stallions. Both have a sand place to roam and during the day they have a big field The other one you cannot see here, he is on the right. Just check the videos

Some people are scared to let their horses out at night because of some crazy stories like somebody cutting their horses tongue off when everybody was asleep.
