I love the goldfish and plants in the horses water drinking trough. It reminds me of a cat I knew who used to like drinking from a tropical aquarium, the fish would also go to where he was lapping causing some concern though he never seemed to try and catch them.

I love your videos. Your photography is beautiful and your observations and the way you narrate them is so interesting . I enjoy the peaceful nature of your voice and your farm.

I want you to know how wonderful and informative your videos are. Your genuine love for the animal (and of teaching) is undeniable. Clearly, the responsible care of horses ( or any animal for that matter) must be based on a thorough understanding of their behavior and body language, something which you effectively convey to the viewer. All of my life I've been intensely interested in all creatures but I have a special place in my heart for horses and enjoy learning about them. Thank you so much for sharing your wealth of knowledge. God bless you and yours.

I like the source of water they have, it's very simple and natural and I think that's why lots of horses actually prefer it. Horses are very self adjusting, meaning they can solve most problems easily, without human intervention.

I think this is the best way for everyone to live; horses, dogs, people, chickens, fish and garden. I wonder are the green plants you call fireweed or fireplant are nettles? They're prickly, but my two horses love them. Thank you for posting such a peaceful picture into your life.

Nettles, yes they are. We call them (free translation) fire nettles Ours also like them, but only when the nettles have stopped firing. Thanks!

I would love to livd in the Netherlands it would be lovely but it would get very cold because I was brought up in a hot environment ( Australia ) . Do you still ride your boys much ? I can't ride now due to a severe back injurie and it breaks my heart , I would love just to be able to work around them. I was thinking after my operation I could volunteer at Riding for the Disable and hopefully in the future I will ride again . Its nice to see that everyone is now getting along peacefully at your farm.

Your plan sounds like a good plan, go for it. Taking care of a horse is the best to do, riding for me does not come in the first place. My goal is to offer them an acceptable life seen through their eyes. I like your plan, every social interaction with horses is very worth while.

Lovely video, thanks for uploading it. Interesting to hear you call your youngster a foal. In Britain we would describe a horse over the age of 2 as a colt (or a filly, if female). A foal is 0-1 years old, and 1-2 would be a yearling. No right or wrong, of course - just different!
@paardentango8 жыл бұрын
True, we are similar in the Netherlands. We call them enter (one year old) tweeter (2 y old) I actually learned this in Spain, where a horse of 1 year is called 'potro de 1 ano' until the age of 4 'potro de 4 anos' and when reached the age of 5 years it is a horse. A 5 y old horse. I think this describes very good the mental and the physical age.

It really depends where you are. In Britain, we generally call a horse under 1 yo a foal, and it could be callled a colt foal or filly foal. At 1-2 yo, we'd say a yearling (yearling colt or yearling filly). At 2yo, we'd usually just say colt or filly. Only at 4yo would a colt properly be called a stallion. Although people may refer to 3yo stallion, it would be considered unusual. The point is words don't have fixed meanings that are the same everywhere.

Interesting to see all the different names in different countries. In the Netherlands we have the same. Yearling, two yearling = twenter. Is it correct that a male colt is not called a stallion but a stud. I thought that a stallion is meant to be a breeding horse and an stud is male. (Meaning all intact) Like they call a male horse that is not castrated an entire because he is still complete/intact.
@fburton88 жыл бұрын
We don't have a specific word like 'twenter' for a two year old (wish we had!). In the US, a stud is often used to refer to a breeding stallion. Here, a stud is a shortened name for 'stud farm', the place where horses are kept for breeding.

Living with you must be heaven for them. Also, I think the plant's name you're looking for is "stinging nettles." (Though to be honest, I think fire plant is a much better name.)

Are you familiar with the stallion Avispado XVIII? your guy is such a rare color of champagne I was curious how many well know stallions in Spain actually carry this classic black (pearl) or (champagne) whichevr... gene. Thanks for videos.

No actually I am not, you can google on Paco Marti there you might find some interesting colors. Rociero is for sale, he is gelden last spring.

people always think stallions are monsters. they should take a long look at your video's.
@paardentango8 жыл бұрын
Thanks. Stallions do have the tendency to fight when they do nit have enough space. In the wild or better in a bigger environment these horses would avoid the other one. But monsters, no they are a gentleman towards human. I think our own social skills are their role model. When you treat them with dignity they display dignity back. Yet I have to say that I am glad they are gelden now. How tired I was of keeping the fences closed and separate them. Now it is calm and ok.
