@@NeurodivergentNegress yes I listened to the entire convo. This is the election to step outside of the “binary choice”. The GOP candidates for president will continue to get worse. And the Dems will be able to continue to use that bad choice as a crutch to be mediocre on policy and lock us in to a binary system. That is what the Dems have always done since iI have been eligible to vote in 2000. If we don’t break free now, then it gets harder to break free later. Nikki Haley, Ron DeSantis, Kari Lake are all on deck.

Marc, what needs to happen is the left needs to form a coalition big enough to compete with the duopoly. Not just the greens, not the Democratic rubber stamp of the WFP, not Cornell West and whatever party hes in this week. Not just the DSA. All of them should team up and come up with a nationwide agenda that will be effective on the local and federal level.

Always love seeing Maurice! Saw him speak at a Justice Democrats fundraiser. He said that we can’t just take on the Republicans we need to take on the neoliberal agenda of the establishment. It was not met with wild applause. Some applause, but not wild. It suggests to me that there’s still more education needed around how we got here. It’s hard to understand neoliberalism when we’re operating on it everyday.

I absolutely agree! Why endorse at all? At least make some demands first. To characterize WFP as radical makes no sense. Did they even consider other candidates whose values align more with what they say they believe in? I found this conversation extremely frustrating. We will never end the duopoly with organizations like this continuing to work within the system. How many working families’ lives did Harris destroy in California? Did they even think about that?

@@MR-yi6mf I believe there is no solution. When a state is determined to destroy itself, destruction inevitably follows. Fixing the system would require a complete overhaul, which is unrealistic. My mentality is... If i was the VP under Biden at this very moment, the exterminations in Gaza would have ended already or I would have already resigned, created or joined a third party. If you take away Race, Gender and Party and performed real research on these individuals, including third party candidates, who would we really vote for?
@marguerX

my take on that is at this point its impossible for a candidate to be elected on merit. They are all owned by Israel's AIPAC, two million of harris donations are from two individual PACS, that was way before she got a lot more money.

@@BreukelenNY if you're VP, you no longer speak or act for yourself. The job of the VP is to be the mouth piece and arm of the president. You are probably the first advisor of the president but that's it. So she has no say on Gaza. If you quit out start a third party, you are ending your career or at the very least starting from scratch. What good is that going to do Gaza. Given the miniscule chance Harris would do anything good for Gaza, she will only be able to do that if she becomes president and she doesn't become president in 90 days by making more enemies. She is a black woman on the brink of the presidency. She didn't get this far without knowing the game and walking that fine line.

Kamala Harris had been trying to push Biden on the right direction on this, but is limited by her position, her desire to maintain her power and now, to maintain the structure of support that Biden had before he dropped out of the race. If she split early and became a third party, she would split the non-trump vote and trump would certainly win, and would make everything even worse. At best, she'll announce a genuine policy change on Israel later in the campaign and at worse, she won't but there will be avenues of pressure that can be applied. The issue is that the two party system is so strong that it absolutely informs who is getting the vote and who's running. Without parties, our entire political system would be so different that any scenario you conjure up would be different from our current situation.

Same can be said about Kamala. The “lesser of two evils” is still evil and will continue the agenda but make it more palatable for the brainwashed masses. From a strategic perspective, I believe withholding votes would galvanize more people and place more pressure on the democratic party. Not voting is just as much of a political statement as voting. Instead of leveraging votes that ultimately will be casted, leverage potential votes that are not guaranteed. This prevents the lesser of two evil narratives from being effective it is also very easy for your constituency to carry out the punishment.

It was interesting to hear a different strategy on building leftist/progressive alternative to the Democratic party. When it comes to the Presidential Election and all the rhetoric, it's basically a lot of terrible options. Yeah lesser of two evils is a terrible choice, but no one bangin' the drums for Jill Stein has been able to make a convincing case that it isn't just another terrible choice rooted in obtuse idealism. Personally I don't try to tell people how to vote and think most of the arguments people make telling other people how they should vote are consistently dogmatic and fail to acknowledge the reality that we're dealing with a broken system with only bad choices. I appreciated that this guest acknowledged all that and presented a genuine strategy for building an alternative that is very clear that inadvertently tipping the country and world towards accelerationism and extremist authoritarian fascism is something that should be taken seriously. I'll need to look more into the WFP strategies but this guest certainly inspired me to do so. Appreciate his insight and appreciate Marc for having him on.

How do you support or even consider giving the race to a candidate supported by white supremecist and Christian Nationalist? If you're so concerned about Gaza how does putting the man who moved the embassy to Jerusalem and who is besties with Nethenyau help Palestinians? It like some people just want to be intellectual and hear their own voices. They don't deal in realities and practicalities.
