The current train was actually not meant for the intercity journey. They were retrofitted for the redline. The rolling stocks for this purpose are currently been built in China and will be delivered sometime around first quarter of next year. When they arrive, these current ones will be handed over to the NRC for the Lagos-Ibadan route.

@FreddyPatekiАй бұрын
@PAYDAYHEDGE You are totally wrong, the Blueline Metro rail has been in operation since September 4th 2023, and the rolling stocks were all bought brand new. Redline is not an exception. The Governor of Lagos state, Mr Babajide Sanwoolu was in China around February 2024, to visit the headquarters of China Railway Rolling Stock Corporation in Dalian, to finalize discussions with the company's top management, regarding the purchase of additional rolling stock, for the Blue and RedLine rail Projects. He further confirmed that they did some train checks, and unlike vehicles they had to finalize production specifications and made payments. Delivery dates from Dalian China, to Lagos Nigeria, have also been confirmed. They are expected by early 2025. Joint maintenance agreements, as well as knowledge and skills transfer, were also finalized with the Chinese team, who boast over 100 years of manufacturing experience, making them one of the foremost, and well-known train manufacturers in the world. The Talgo trains and British Hst currently being used on the Redline will most likely be transferred to the Nigerian Railway corporation (NRC) since they were originally designed for intercity train travel and not metro, hence the current seating arrangements and a kitchen.

One of the interviewed persons made a most profound statement! He said the road that led to the station is NOT friendly at all!! Now this is sadly a recurring theme! Why do we seem to have bad roads leading to highly important sites or locations in Lagos?? This rail line should be a direct catalyst for change to the road infrastructure all around each and every station on the routes! That should be the joy of having a rail system, having clearly tarred and motorable roads and side streets so people could commute to and from the stations!! I hope the state government takes due note!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!

@@bankolefasehun9102 I couldn't agree more Banky F. Rome wasn't built in a day! In fact i have been to Rome (God so kindly) and guess what, the Eternal City is still being built, still being developed! And that goes for London and Paris and every other city in the world! My gripe with Lagos, is that its trajectory is not in sync!! I am not asking for skyscrapers or cable cars! I am not asking for underground subways either! A city established since 1914, as a federal capital, and which has also been brought into statehood since 1967, cannot continue to have ANY bad "jaga jaga" roads ANYWHERE on the metropolis!!!! I love the train network that is being established in Lagos! i can't wait for the full network to be in place .. But roads remain an artery of any country that wants economic growth and prosperity!!! Good, wide and well tarred roads( and streets)!! Roads to and from our places of work, businesses, markets, schools AND train stations are a must !! I believe that the LRMT is near pointless if there are no buses and taxis to ferry people on well made roads to commute on the trains!!! If Abuja can happen in Nigeria, then all other cities and towns got no excuses any longer!! 👊🏾🇳🇬👊🏾🇳🇬!!!
@FreddyPatekiАй бұрын
@@aframaco9491There's a simple reason and explanation for the numerous bad access or inner roads in Lagos or Nigeria. Failed Local Govt system and wrong system of Govt which should be regional or Decentralized. Hopefully the recent local government autonomy passed into law would help. @emmanuelogundipe3328Ай бұрын
Trains are not built for the poor anywhere in the world, they are built for those who are willing to pay for the swiftness and comfort of the train. A ten minutes ride in U.K cost nothing less than ten thousand when converted to Nigeria naira. You think that's cheap? If the train fare come cheap and the income doesn't meet up with the maintenance of equipment and payment of staffs and the service eventually shutdown due to lack of funding people will say the government cannot maintain infrastructure. Do you expect the government to set up rail infrastructure and then continue disbursing money for maintenance? No! The infrastructure is going to fund itself from the money it is generating, if the infrastructure is under generating then it is definitely going to close down.

@@kensburg2660 I have few things to say to you, it might be a lot, depending on how it comes but you asked for it. First of all I do not appreciate you calling my motherland a shithole, as a matter of fact I am 80% certain that it's the passport of the same country you called a shithole you used to travel to wherever you are. So respect that name Nigeria even if you do not respect yourself. Secondly, I do not appreciate you calling me names or asking me to shut up. I wasn't rude in my initial comment, you can drop your point without being rude, this is a public space and you have to respect yourself if you want to awarded the same level of respect. Thirdly, it's not about my travel experience or where I live, from your response to my comment it's obvious that you try to fake intelligence by association it with your country of residency. However you are a foreigner there and you will forever be because that's the default setting of reality, but you can choose to be delusional, I wish you well in wonderland. You said you have this and that in your country of residency, I want to ask you questions. How long have those trains been in operation? When were they built? Are there on going construction of metro projects in that country? Are there several undeveloped rail corridors in that country? Are there intentions to use the revenues generated from those rail lines to construct more rail infrastructure? I appreciate comparison but I do not tolerate silly comparisons. The first fully operational metro in Nigeria opened last year in Lagos (the one in Abuja opened in 2018 and it was in test running phase the till it shut down in 2020 everybody already knows why) and you expect the rail service to be cheap? The red line is currently running on diesel engine and it's the fourth functioning metro line in Nigeria. (Abuja currently has two functioning lines. Ridership is free till December) It is very silly if not stupid to make comparisons to a country that has connecting metros. The two lines in Lagos are not even connected yet and you want to compare to where again did you say you reside? If you want to make comparison the smartest way I believe is that you bring in two to three other countries and compare them. I used U.K as an example, there is a huge difference in exchange rate, if you wanted to prove your point with what you said about where you live I expected you tell us the price of the shortest distance and compare with that of Lagos and not just coming online to prove to us that you lack home training or had a rough childhood. If I am to ask you where you are from in Nigeria, you're definitely not from Lagos and I'm quite sure there is no metro line in your state (there is none in mine too I'm being factual) but I will suggest you tell your government to make rail transportation cheap once they are done with developing their own metro line. So that they can borrow loans to finance the construction of the other rail lines. The likes of you will be the ones comparing the construction cost of Ethiopian light rail to that of Lagos blue line Metro without considering that they were built in different land terrains and that the blue line has over a kilometer of elevated tracks that cuts across the Atlantic. Learn to be civil and respect yourself in public places to avoid embarrassment. Of all places to claim it's Turkey you're bragging about as if that's proof that you've made it in life.

Why should it be elevated when there is an existing grid level SGR rail track? The blue line was elevated because of the ocean crossing and several bodies of water along the route. It wasn't became they felt like elevating, it's based on the terrain.

When other countries are riding on high-speed trains
@DAMINATION_129 күн бұрын
How many?
@prospektarty151322 күн бұрын
How many? I live in the uk and we don’t have high speed trains, neither does America. The only countries with high speed trains are Japan, France, Spain and China. Also you can’t have high speed trains running on a metro system in a big city. This is good progress for Nigeria. Not many countries have good Metros, hopefully we will maintain the trains. Unfortunately they are not cheap to run and the prices will have to go up if Nigerians want to use such things, they will need to start paying regular tax cos that’s what other countries use to maintain their public transport infrastructure. Even if it’s subsidised it still comes from tax payers money unfortunately most Nigerians don’t pay tax but they want to enjoy the best things in life. Niger delta oil and gas is not enough to sustain 230 million people without taxation.

Fun fact: The Lagos Redline is the FASTEST train in AFRICA 330 kph, Morocco 320 kph, Tanzania 160 kph and Kenya 120 kph. Like the pinned comment said, the Talgo Red line isn’t meant for the Metro, it will be replaced when the actual trains for it are brought early next year. The Talgo will be used for interstate, it’s just substituting for now. You can read it up.

I appreciate your response without insult me. Keep up the positive attitude. I know about those train because I am a Nigerian living here in the U.S. I remember not long ago when the mayor announced that the Talgo built Milwaukee trains will be sold to an African country. Governor Sanwo Olu traveled down here to inspect the trains that were already built for Milwaukee (not for Lagos) when Talgo was building the train, they didn’t know the trains that was originally built for passengers from Milwaukee to Madison will one day end up in Africa. I will subscribe to your channel now and good luck on your growth.

The trains were originally designed for inter State travel. There are temporarily being used for the red line till the rolling stock for the redline arrive from China. They are going to go back to their original purpose which is to run along the Lagos Ibadan corridor.

@@kevo7ful Hello. Nice comment to Prisca. And you are very correct about GenZs and their abusive responses. Quick question: Is there a reason Milwaukee rejected or have a change of mind about the Talgo trains?
@kevo7fulАй бұрын
@@gardensteps Milwaukee didn’t really reject the train. It’s a long story. In summary, there were accusations of the former Governor of Wisconsin using tax payers money inappropriately to purchase the train from Talgo. A new governor, Scott Walker came into office and shut down the contract the former governor had with the contractor named Talgo whom is the train manufacturer. There were lawsuits, political opposition & interests. At a point, the court moved the trains from the state of Wisconsin to the next neighbouring state of Indiana. The whole thing was a mess. I only showed more interest when I heard my native country of Nigeria is about to purchase it from the state of Wisconsin. If not, I wouldn’t have known the history of the redline train that ended up in Lagos, Nigeria. Milwaukee loss became Lagos gain.
