It seriously felt at one point that the walkthrough was supposed to be part of the game, a la keep talking and nobody explodes, because even with the walkthrough it was hard and tense. There’s no way they expected people to figure this out themselves in a reasonable amount of time. That being said OX makes this all about a thousand times better, so we can enjoy sparce clips of vampire horror/drama fmv just that much more

I owned this game on a Sega CD 32X--and can confirm it was utter BS. Game was completely impossible without some kind of hints or walkthrough. I don't even think I knew about the whole "they're vampires" thing until years later because I never got more than 5 minutes into it without losing. Game is interesting as a little bit of gaming history, but it's utter garbage as an actual game.

@@willsams8401 My guess is that you're supposed to write down observations about the game as you play and use your own notes as a guide. Certain parts are stupid hard, like spotting Augers in the driveway. I did note that Andy missed a trick, some Augers you only have one opportunity to catch, but some you have multiple, and in his successful run he only went after the first opportunity. It's still stupid hard though.

I know I'm late to the party, but my mind just got blown. I've actually met one of the actors in this game. Giovanni Lemm used to commentate at the local MMA events I used to compete in. Barely recognized him so young, but that's definitely him. I knew he did some small time acting, but I never knew he was in Night Trap.

If this came out in '94, I would have been 16. Having grown up on Nintendo, I'm sure this game would have blown me away at the time. I still remember the storm that followed it, and now having watched it, I truly don't get it. If there was nudity, I didn't see it. The violence was no worse than Saturday morning fare at the time. There may have been a semi-passible story, but who can tell? You can't watch the story and play the game at the same time. I'm really glad you guys did this one. I've always wondered.

It's so crazy how the game requires you to ignore almost all of the unfolding story to play it successfully. Such a bizarre choice, yet the fundamental concept of the game is sound (the monitoring a house in real time to save people bit, not the binbag vampires obvs). Have to wonder what would have happened if this had come out in 1987 when it was originally filmed, instead of sitting on a shelf for 5 years.

@Jayden Atchley more likely its vats of acid to break down the bone and gristle of the bodies, grinders would eventually become clogged with gore and rust up and would require too much oiling and maintenance to remain functional.......ya know not that I thought it through or anything I'm just saying.....

I believe a lot of the 'issues' of this game and why it went to congress and such was actually based on a false understanding of the game. The were claiming it was too violent and that you were trapping the girls, not the vampires.
