EVERYONE told me to sleep train through the cry it out method. Tried other gentle methods and they went okay. At around 4 months old, he made his way into our bed, and never left. I hate that I can't tell anyone cause society looks down on bedsharing. But we LOVE it. He doesn't even nurse, only bottle feeds. But he is so much calmer at night knowing he's snuggled with his parents and we all sleep much better. Which means, much more productive days!! Never did cry it out.

I had to laugh a little reading this comment because I am a first time mom and our baby also ended up in our bed around 4.5 months and when people would ask how he’s sleeping I’d openly tell them he slept in our bed. I recently night weaned hoping to get my period back but he still ends up in our bed around 2-4 am and I wouldn’t change it for anything. I don’t care what anyone thinks honestly. Before I had him I swore I’d never bedshare but he is so snuggly! I think everyone else is missing out lol

I really think that people who have some sort of issue with bed sharing are just ignorant. This was the way it was done by women for a long, long time before companies who want your money invented cribs, etc. My mom raised 6 babies this way, and that was the way she was taught and felt most natural. She compared it to a mama dog and her pups. It's just the way it has always been done.

I found your follow up video when I searched weaning which led me to this one. I am so thankful. I had all these ideas in my head of how I needed to wean day first and do the nurse-to-sleep feed before the middle of the night. I also “co-sleep” between a floor bed (yes, the two of us on his little crib mattress 🥴) and recliner with my almost 17MO so I just didn’t see how weaning was going to work. I watched this video, finally had a clear vision and mindset so I could ground myself, and committed to the process - all last night. I am so happy to report that night one went far better than I ever could’ve anticipated. He wasn’t happy, but I felt him process the feelings with me and just lean into how this is going to go. You are so so right when you said that this is a far bigger bond than nursing. I had a great bond with him, but his head on my shoulder and his heart on my heart was so impactful in a way I never thought possible. Thank you for helping me get through the initial push to get this process started. For my sanity, I need to wean and have felt too defeated to actually make it happen.

Thank you so much for sharing your realistic experience! I nurse day and night and have no idea on where to start when it comes to weaning. Your real life expectations shows that it can be done in time, instead of saying” your child will magically just sleep for 12 hours straight” lol

first, thank you so much for being you…transparent, relatable, taking opinions with a grain of salt…I’m almost 8 weeks pregnant with a breastfeeding 14 month old. I don’t exactly remember how I cut out night feeds with my oldest (except that he was a little over 1 when we did it). But I’m miserably nauseous so I need to cut out night feeds with my 1 year old for the sake of rest and sanity; however, I’ve been SO overwhelmed with the various sleep training methods and just feeling like I’ve done it all “wrong” so far so none of them will work. However, when you said your philosophy is “do what works until it doesn’t,” I realized that’s basically how I roll too. So in that moment I was in tears and realized I haven’t done anything “wrong” for us. We done what made everyone feel most at ease and loved. And we’ll figure out a new routine with that, even if it looks nothing close to any of the “fancy” methods. So yeah, from a really hormonal mama to another…thank you! ❤️

My 14 month old bed sharing boob loving girl slept straight from 12-5am one night and I decided that is the sign I've been waiting for to start night weaning. For getting back my period and starting with baby nr 2. Last night was night #1 - she screamed for 1,5 hours straight. 🙂🙂🙂 And then slept until 5 which is the end of our window. And I am crying all day today - hormones already after two nights of reduced night feeding?? Watched your video a few weeks back and again now that I'm in the deep end of it. Thank you! I’m a terrible sleeper myself, so I don’t want to have him in my bed, tbh. I can’t sleep well with him next to me at times. I don’t necessarily want to cut out nursing at night, but I do want him to learn to self-soothe. I think I have a sense of how to initiate now.

This is such a good video for me to see the other side of feedings. My little never latched so I exclusively pumped foir 6 months until he was eating more than I could pump. So early on we had to learn to sooth him to sleep and it was very helpful with the bonding I d idnt get with nursing. We still cosleep but he had mostly slept thru the night for months now. It's a good perspective to see what nurse weaning can be like.

I’m literally in the process of weaning my 2 year old during the night. We started last weekend. She’ll wake up maybe 1-2x and throws a small tantrum. I offer her water and sometimes she’ll take it, but other times she’ll push it away. She will usually lay across my chest when she starts to calm down and then she’ll snuggle with me and hold my face in her hands 🥺 She falls asleep like that and it’s the cutest thing. I haven’t started weaning from nap time or bedtime feeds but soon, hopefully.

My daughter self night -weaned once she dropped her second nap around 11 months old. She is two (today!) and I’m still nursing her at nap and bedtime. I’m expecting baby 2 in December so over the past few months I’ve stopped nursing her completely to sleep and I lay her down awake. Our next hurdle will be for daddy to try to put her to bed. He can put her down for a nap but usually only if I’m not home and I’m worried about what is going to happen when we go to the hospital to have this baby!

I have done this with 4 kids and with the 1st I had my husband put her to bed and down for naps and I tried to avoid those times. It was horrible. I switched it for the other 3 and I was the one that still did all of our normal routine, but without nursing. They all handled it better than I expected. They would get a snack and a cup of milk before nap or bedtime and I would rock them to sleep or put them in their crib, whichever worked. I stopped day nursing before night weaning. I subbed a cup of milk and a small snack for every time they would have normally nursed if I was worried about their calorie intake. Yes I let them fall asleep with a cup of milk which I know is a big "no,no". Then about 2 months after they fully weaned I gave them a cup of water instead of milk. Baby steps. Good luck!!!

did your daughter always sleep for those intervals? I’m new here so I don’t know! I have a 3.5 month old and usually he sleeps from like 10-11 PM (we tend to stay out late) until like 4-5 AM. I am trying to stretch it out to 9 PM-7 AM! I put him to bed in his bassinet or in the crib in his room and then when he wakes up I (unsuccessfully) try to put him back to sleep and then eventually nurse him in my bed and he sleeps with mom & dad. once I think I remember not even nursing him but just putting him by us and he fell right back asleep cuz of the snuggles. 🥰 but I read this book “bringing up bébé” and it talks about how the french are like actual natural pros at having their babies sleep through the night so I tried implementing some of their tips and I think it’s helping! if you have another baby I recommend reading that book! I have no idea how I’ll wean him (from all breastfeeding) but I plan to do that around 1 yrs old. This came at the right time for me and bub. He just turned 10 months last week and for the past two weeks has been waking 4-6 times per night. Before it was 2-3. I'm exhausted. He's exhausted. I'm ready to throw in the towel but not at the same time. Do you suggest waiting until he's down to nap a day?
@heyshayla3 жыл бұрын
No! I think you can start it whenever you’re ready!

Awww. My 2 yr old was in the same night waking pattern til about 15 months. I understand the exhaustion. Makes me teary eyed just thinking about how hard it was. It will pass... eventually.

Curious about the makeup. Since it’s mostly cream stuff, does it crease or get oily on your face? I’m loving this whole brand and idea but the set is $$20 cad 😭 lol

Maybe a silly question - I really want to use this method for night weaning, but it's winter and the sunrise isn't until 7:00!! I'm worried, will this be confusing to my toddler if we nurse before 7 but it's still morning? Anyone else experience this?
@heyshayla Жыл бұрын
No silly. It’s the same here. You could also get a hatch where the light turns green at x time

Maybe this is a stupid question but.. your period doesn’t come back until you stop breastfeeding? What?
@heyshayla3 жыл бұрын
Not dumb!!! It’s different for everyone. But she didn’t take a bottle and was feeding though the night too so no it didn’t come back until 13 months pp. Some women get it back right away others don’t!

I’m night weaning now too! My baby is 6 months old. It’s been two nights. I pump once in the middle of the night so I haven’t experienced the hormone thing yet.

U said that u wanted to get ur period back and possibly try for another baby.. I know everyone is different but have u guys been careful intimately? Kuz some people don't get pregnant when breastfeeding and some ppl do. I just had a baby and don't want to go on birth control so im just curious what uve been doing since i know before u just did ovulation tracking. Sorry that was long lol

Haha yeah I’ve been tracking and keeping track. And I got it a month after we stopped!

I’m considering trying this to get my period so hubby and I can try for another baby. I currently co sleep with my 14 month old on a floor bed in her room. But would also like to start sleeping in my own bed again with hubby. So we can play the piano. 😂

Update. We are still co sleeping, but she sleeps in the bed with me. I’m now pregnant and she’s 2yr & 2months. BF hurts now due to the pregnancy hormones. So I think this might be the time I try weaning again! I hate to take it away from my daughter, but it’s genuinely becoming unbearable now. Please pray for me! ❤

I have a question. So a month later she’s still waking up during the night to be rocked, etc? How long does this take?

Real quick about 5 min

My boy nursed until 2.5 years when my milk supply all but disappeared with our second pregnancy. A few months on with a newborn and he has no interest in breastfeeding whatsoever, which makes me feel so proud and sad simultaneously.

Truly natural would be NEVER weaning them until they wean themself at like 7 years old. 😂😂 Yeah I'm not doing that either.

My heart literally drop when I saw the amber necklace. They are soooooooo dangerous and virtually ineffective. Teething necklaces are not worth the risk.
