Good thing is, a lot of people still turn to the Dollar because of the safety is somehow assures. Well, I suggest you make a diversification plan because it's been harder to build a good portfolio that stays afloat since COVID. I don’t know about cheap labor. My ex boyfriend of 4yrs is an undocumented worker. He makes way more money than I do. I have been looking for a better paying job that actually offers healthcare and it’s not easy. Sure, there are jobs out there, but they do not pay. When they see me, they want a résumé, to reference letters, you should know someone already that works for the company, and then it’s three interviews… And that’s just to try and get a job at Costco! This apartment, and I cannot afford the rent on my own. Meanwhile to North Carolina and got a job right away. And he doesn’t have a college degree or a résumé. The Guatemalan upstairs from me is also undocumented and he makes $30 an hour. I am over here begging for a job that pays me at least 15 an hour@@Judithica

I completely agree that the text to 911 program should get some updates, and I agree that the deaf and HoH community have been fighting for this for a while. But what I’m tired of is the news NEVER mentioning the other group of people that this affects, people who are mute. I have had to use text to communicate with 911, once because there was gunshots in my building on my floor. And yes, I had to tell the operator where I was, but what aggravated me was that the officer after it was over, CALLED ME on the phone to follow up with me. Those are the things that drive me up the walls.

You should read about E911 and how vulnerable it is to cyber attacks. Black hats seem to enjoy taking them down. It's why I would never rely on a texting system for emergencies, even if a verbal call ran the risk of compromising my safety.

If you can hear ok, then you can use google or some other method to vocally talk. I went to Ukraine and got stopped by the Ukraine police for speeding. I used my phone to speak to the Ukraine police in Russian. I can't understand Russian but my phone spoke to them in Russian. I just type in the English or speak English into the phone and out comes spoken Russian or whatever other language you want. If you can't hear, I am sure there are devices you can purchase that will change the spoken voice of the person that calls you on the phone into text. Then you can type the response and it will speak out your words to the caller. You only need to be able to see. I am sure they even have a system for people who can't see or hear and only use braille.

@@jeffbguarino that is true, they do have devices called tty devices that are used for the HoH and deaf community, and now they have software tty, basically, called rtty. And yes they have programs for your phone that will speak the text that you type, and actually most of the is free. The problem is those programs that speak what you type, or at least all of the ones that I have found, don’t work while you are on a call. And tty devices are not free and can get kind of expensive, as in my entire monthly income before bills and taxes. And you might say, then just use the rtty function, it’s on my phone, but call me stupid, but I can’t figure out how to properly use it. I have tried making phone calls with it, non-emergency phone calls of course, and I couldn’t get it to work. So to sum it up, yes there are options out there that are suppose to help, but they are either too expensive, or they simply just don’t work when I try and use them.

It seems odd to me why the 911 system has failed to reach the accurate address on receiving signals in text since we are operating same system without difficulty to get the right spot within a minute. It can't be differed, can it? Cause we have adopted the emergency handling system through the 911, ours is 119 for emergency call, perhaps similarly named after 911? So ours is operating without any similar problem, but the original emergency system in us is partly operating only in voice rescue call? Strange.

I’ve never thought of texting 911 but I can see how this could save someone’s life if they’re in a situation where they can’t talk or need to be very quiet because they’re hiding from someone trying to harm them. This system should work just like calling 911.

I think it would behoove us to start looking at different metrics other how many jobs. We should also make it a point to mention how much these jobs are paying, cost of housing, how many Americans are working multiple jobs etc. Those basic metrics are no longer an accurate depiction of the health of our economy.

At that point the border patrol let's them in if their life is in danger from starvation, etc . The border patrol cut the hardwired fence last week to let them in . The issue with the border wall is that these people aren't coming from Venezuela and Ecuador because they want too, there doing it because their governments can't provide them with enough opportunities to even make a substandard living by our US standards, if we actually want to solve the immigration issue we have to focus on giving these people enough opportunities in their home countries so that they don't have to travel though the jungle and desert to try and get into the US and to make sure their governments actually spread the wealth and opportunities to a bigger portion of their working populations and not hoard it.

all these sanctuary cities were so critical of people who wanted more migration controls and opened their doors to show us how its done. and now they're being overwhelmed. and yet they refuse to admit they were wrong. I have nothing against Immigration, and I absolutely despise people who try to bring racism into the equation, but the facts of the matter are that we need to make sure immigration is handled legally and in such a way that our infrastructure is not overwhelmed by taking on more people than we can support, and in such a way that the people immigrating can get sufficient support to become productive U.S. citizens. unfortunately that means we have to be picky and not everyone will be able to get in. I also think that Mexico and other major well developed countries in Central and South America could be doing a lot more to mitigate these issues. a lot of these people are following a pipe dream. they've been told that the U.S. is something it's not, and frankly, many of them would be much better off and far more prosperous if they ended their journey by legally immigrating into Mexico. for people who are seeking asylum from violence or oppression, they don't have to come all the way to the U.S. to get away from those things. there are also plenty of other large, well developed nations in South America that have the infrastructure to support reasonable levels of immigration, without many of the barriers to prosperity that they would face even with legal immigration into the U.S.
