Safe to say the flooring was a ball ache but thankfully a managed to get it done and I’m relatively happy with how it came out. Lots of lessons where learnt along the way hah. This isn’t my finished floor but just the foundation to build from, further down the line I’ll put some vinyl down to give a nice finish. Let me know what type of videos you want to see me create along side these and thanks for your continued support! 😄

When we make mistakes we can look at them and feel like crap, or we can learn how to cover them up. If you were to see the mistakes made by the prop builders in the film industry and the way they hide them you would be amazed. But you're learning and there will be mistakes, the next van will be better. 👍😃

If you need a long straight cut across a panel, clamp a piece of steel or ally angle to the panel to run the saw up against. Those clamp on saw fence things aren't a great success, buggers for coming loose....

As a chippy, small gaps will not matter as you will have a floor covering of some sort so don't beat yourself up over some small gaps between boards , you get to know what tolerances you can "get away with " dependant on the actual job you are doing, with certain things a mm or two gap does not matter, however if , for instance, chopping in a hinge on a nice oak door then you really do have to be spot on., really enjoying your videos

For scribing, but material upto the shape, in the orientation it will put in, like is done in video. Use measuring tape and measure at the widest/furthest wood to shape distance, leaving few mill for pencil to scribe just at the very edge, where the widest measure is, lock the tape, with pencil in corner of tape and the body, then keeping the tape measure facing the same direction, start at edge and let the tape lightly run along while scribing on wood. In case of above video, it wuld scribe the two corner areas far into the wood, and the middle wider portion will be very close and on the edge of the ply I know this is simple but i like mansplainin

Sometimes, conjoining factory edges is not possible, or at least problematic or wasteful. TIP: Contour the wall edges as needed, and use a square to keep your genius homemade scribe exactly perpendicular while it follows the contour of the wall. Once the first wall is scribed and cut to fit, scribe and cut the opposing wall, BUT allow the two floor pieces to overlap down the center line, or middle line. Once the opposing wall's piece is cut, and the two flooring pieces are overlapping down the middle, SHIM UP the floor board CLOSEST to the metal floor with a long strip of scrap of uniform thickness, and the top piece will rise, too, as you lift the board under it. Mark the upper piece with a straight edge or chalk line, where you want the seam to be, then set your saw "cut depth" such that it will cut through both flooring pieces, but not your metal floor, of course. When the cut is finished, and you pull out the shim and leftovers, both flooring pieces will smash together snugly and perfectly, no matter how wiggly your final cut was.
