The fact that Sophie has on the make-up that Lara did is quite interesting though. It's obvious that it doesn't suit her whatsoever, a few people has pointed that out in the make-up tutorial video comments, and it's.. strange, I don't know what it would mean And also, note the fact that the Lara in the videos of her staring into the screen has brown eyes, the *real* Lara, the one with the vlogs and the gameplay, has blue eyes. edit: I just thought of the saying "eyes are windows to the soul", hmm.. might be nothing, but there is something about eyes I feel

There's also that one line in the game about Sophie not having eyes.
@lilbohbeat57854 жыл бұрын
Aries Salem Aries Salem I thought you might be right, but after a very close and critical double-check, they are right about their having different eye colour. You can clearly see that her eyes are in fact as dark as they seem during the scenes on the plane, when the lighting is bright and clear, there are multiple obvious purposeful, but brief, close-up shots (around 7:10 I believe *approx)) in which it becomes undeniably clear that she has darker, brownish coloured eyes. A few minutes later, we get the same sort of obviously purposeful close-ups of the other, vlogging, ‘real’ Lara’s very clearly, very different, pale blue eyes; well-lit, filmed clearly & directly face-on and they’re continually shown to be undeniably a very different, lighter, clearer colour than the other Lara in this sort of vlogging footage of hers - see around 10:16 for example.

My theory: The Hand of Hate is the manifestation of the loathing that we all feel towards rich douchebags like Sophie (cough Jake Paul cough). It gave a Monkey's Paw style fantasy to Lara (and perhaps to Sophie before her), getting to live that lifestyle, but she can't enjoy it because it's not really her ("are you being you? Is this who you really are?").
@wrigglenight934 жыл бұрын
It’s a fairly clever bait and switch in regards to premise. It goes from a takedown of those rich douchebag “influencers”, to a commentary on people who exist in a perpetual state of boiling resentment towards those people, or any of the other common targets.

I definitely believe after a while she got under the control of SOMETHING. it's why she's acting less and less normally and why she's just contnuing to play the game and buy into it rather than deny it. The monster is making her continue to play and stopping her from actually thinking about it.
@olivia77823 жыл бұрын
YES like if it was just the game by itself it would just come off as fairly average spooky game stuff, especially to people who are used to and expecting horror. Having her be the one to play it and to react so sincerely absolutely SOLD it. Fear can be hard to act without hamming it up, especially for sustained periods rather than momentary big-ticket reactions. She deserves SO much praise.

Something else to point out is “possessed Laura” cut her shirt exactly like Sophie did in the video where Sophie is abducted.

I'd donate to Sophie's patreon, but I don't really think she'd need that. Maybe Lara could use it, bless her.

Also, it’s funny to me how women who play video games (and there are nearly as many of us as men) are called “gamer girls” but guys who play video games are not called “gamer boys”.

my guess is because when the term was made (gamer) it wasn't as common for girls to play games, just a complete guess though
@Wolvorine4 жыл бұрын
@@echo3788 Not only that, but back then being a gamer generally was a girl repellent. Gamers were considered nerds and geeks, which was pretty much the bottom of the social totem pole. During the height of the Arcade days it was okay to drop a few quarters, but beyond that only losers didn't have something better to do with cooler people. Same with RPGs/D&D (although usually nerds played video games *and* D&D), there were a few "nerdy girls", but they weren't common & generally were outcasts too. At the core of it, the term "Gamer Girl" (the relatively recent pejorative usage for "girl pretending to be a gamer" aside) was supposed to be a Good thing. "This girl's awesome, she's a *Gamer* girl!"

its also significant to note that lara and sophie’s lives are very similar - both are from London, have a single dad ect - but lara is not as rich as sophie and her videos aren’t as good, which ends up in lara getting hate from commenters and forces her to want to become more like sophie because of the similarities but sophie is richer. also if you notice, the advert in lara’s vlog is the first IamSophie video.

Did anyone also get the added Flamingo reference? Male birds are considered the best fathers of the animal kingdom. They mate with a female, the female leaves him with the egg, and it's his job to take care of it/feed it until the baby (sometimes up to 50) hatch -- and what do the mass majority of birds eat? Worms. I see you Mr. Hate, I see you there.
