Love your stuff, Night Shift. Outstanding work as always. I have the answer to your observation about bright silver weld lines and why they didn't rust.....armour plate was welded with stainless steel. Ordinary steel welds would crack as they cooled. For some reason, stainless steel does not crack when used to weld armour plate. Keep up the good work.

imho the paint in over the top shadows make things look cartoony. would look more authentic without them. now it sort of looks like when you overdo ambient occlusion in cg and youre seeing shadows in areas that ar not really occluded, just baked in there no matter the lightsource. my 2 cents. still great work and entertaining content

i would like to see you build a danish centurion, they were a little different to the ones the brits used, amongst other things they did was to add a bustle rack made in denmark. or perhaps an m41 walker bulldog, again with the danish modifications. they had a very distinct bustle rack and an IR spotlight, they also tended to wrap camo netting around the barrel and turret. i think it would be a cool project for a man of your skill :)

I would propose making at least one of the tarps have a different surface, i.e. more shiny by using a coat of semigloss or even gloss (some tarps used surely were more like the "rubbery" rain coats of the Wehrmacht or the Kradmantel) and later add flat dust and dirt to it, but not cover it all up. A varied surface reflectivity does add quite a bit of realism :)
@NightShiftScaleModels3 жыл бұрын
That's true yet I find it to be one of the most difficult and terrifying parts of stowage painting lol. I'm used to seeing so many figures and stowage painted in flat colors that anything else seems "wrong" even if it's not :) Another good example are civilian grain bags filled with rocks as seen on Syrian tanks, those bags are completely shiny... yet I feel like it would be extremely hard to pull that effect off on a model!
@robertthompson19933 жыл бұрын
Another great piece of work! My favourite detail is definitely the little enamel bowls.

In my humble opinion, stowage is very important to give our vehicles that 'lived-in' look. And they give us a chance to add color to our otherwise dull green tanks (I'm thinking Shermans and T-34s, here.) Sorry Uncle, but you violated one of my pet peeves. I was in the Army (riding around in M113A1s), and EVERY box, or crate was ALWAYS marked with a description of contents. Stencils in military jargon, or some ownership mark or symbol. ("This is my stuff!) Else, you wind up with that military warehouse scene at the end of the 'Raiders of the Lost Ark' movie. You remember - where the treasure was lost amongst a million unidentifiable crates.
