It's a great daily driver. I got a very low milage (about 60K) '05 model with the 2.4 n/a engine. Not fast by any means but you get around. So damn reliable and comfortable, especially here where we have a cold and snowy winter. Cheap to buy, cheaper to own. I pay less than $400 a year for full coverage on insurance. I've had it for 5 years now and bought it when it had done less than 20K miles. It was like brand spanking new straight out of the dealership, and it still is. I've had no need to do anything but regular maintanence and never heard anybody having problems with these old 5-cylinders. Only a few downsides that I can think of. It's a gaz guzzler for sure especially with the automatic transmission. And the Aisin 5-speed auto in these is not exactly a charmer, I would prefer a manual over it.

Just make sure you run synthetic in it, or else you could end up with the PCV catcher can getting clogged and having a cam seal blow out due to crank case pressure build up like mine did. The cam seals are easy enough to do but it is an annoying project. I am using mine as a winter car but it was originally a southern US car and was near spotless underneath, I pressure washed the underside and painted it with zinc galvanizing compound, all silver. I will see how it lasts this winter and if there is any deterioration I will respray it then undercoat with oil. I dunno, its like an experiment... car is basically worthless anyway with 219k on it but I like it! Mine is a t5 though maybe different than the 2.4. They are really a nice looking car though when cleaned up.

What mods you've done to it? Best part was about you not speeding cause you think it's gonna break, cause you build it 🤣
