Thanks for sharing your reaction to a song that for me explores themes of solitude, self-discovery, and the existential journey through life's trials. The imagery of the ocean, islands, and mariners reflects a metaphorical exploration of the human experience of connecting with other individuals. The song captures the essence of navigating life’s uncertainties and finding one's place in a vast, often unwelcoming world. It suggests a longing for connection and understanding while grappling with the weight of past experiences and the isolation they can bring. P.S. The reason for the many butterflies in the music video is most likely that in many cultures they show us how we can go within ourselves to dissolve old forms and morph, rebuilding and evolving ourselves,. They show us the importance of surrender and trust as part of the essential process of growth and renewal. P.S.S. Don't apologize for speaking & expressing your opinions as that's what a genuine reaction should be based on. Also love your cat & I had almost an identical one until he was put into eternal sleep at age 17 because of an imminent heart failure.

To actually cry to music it shows... empathy, shows real the emotion within us and the Nightwish Army is actually all about acknowledging that... this is how we should actually feel more often when listening to music. Like you said... rarely songs these days evoke such emotion... So I ... and the rest of Nightwish fans actually appreciate when people let their emotions and true feelings, empathy happiness and sadness the rest of it all... to show... It means the music inspires not only me... John or you... it's inspiring to all of us ... The soul ocean of the world... collectively.. and this ... this is the biggest gift we can offer to Tuomas ... towards his masterpieces. Hello to you too in France somewhere you beautiful soul :) PS: Please react to "Hiraeth" and "The Weave" as well ! ! ! :) Thank you so much !

Hello Athena, Nightwish Army Bavaria checking in! What a heartfelt reaction to this instant classic, well done. Don't ever apologize for your tears and emotions, that's why we all are here for... Otherwise we could just watch the video. I so totally understand your feelings, I've been there, right in your situation about four years ago. As a Nightwish fan from the beginning I completely lost track of them after the removal of Tarja from the band. I rediscovered them with the rise of reaction videos during the pandemic, instantly fell in love with Floor's voice and charisma, and since then I regularly ask myself how on earth I was able to live without Nightwish for about 15 years... With love from Germany, Prog O'Holic

Good reaction video! Thanks! Thank you Tuomas for all the beauty you create for us! Tuomas has said that the islands in the song reflect the people we meet in our lives. I have personally thought that the song represents the whole life of one person. And the islands are the people we meet during our life. In the beginning, our life is faster and there is a lot going on in life (Floor's fast singing style represents this). In the rest of life everything slows down and that's when we get to Troy's part. That song feels like a "life size song". And makes me emotional too… Tuomas and his imagination...!!!
@AthenaDKАй бұрын
Hi! Wow thank you I had no idea about the actual meaning Tuomas wanted to give was this! But is makes total sense! And actually your interpretation too! I think that's great about music we all recieve things differently and interpret it in different ways!

You have music, and then you have masterpieces. Nigthwish is pure masterpiece and so unique. Many compare them to Evanescence, but Nightwish are many levels above them, both in complexity and quality. I have been listening to their music since early 2000, and the music is and always has been a variety of pure art. I am glad on behalf of Nigthwish that so many more people around the world has found this incredible band, especially with the start of reaction videos.
@rainertuominen4242Ай бұрын
Also, the comparison NW to Evanescence is made by people with no reference. E was started 1995, NW 1996, E had had an EP out by 2001 when they released their first album. 2001 NW released their 4th album.

3:35 That's what we need, Floor allowed to soar 8:12 (if only just a bit). Would be great to see this live. NW won't tour for quite some time, but.. maybe Floor can persuade her band to accept a challenge? 😁 At 4:40 "It's kind of a twist" - twists cat who dutifully leaves the chat. Nice! Btw, did I catch you saying "cornemuse"? That's very French sounding for a Dutchie ;) Meanwhile, how about lifting your spirits even more with a stellar live performance, cheerfully titled "Everybody Dies"? It's by Ayreon, you may have heard of them (him, actually). Mastermind Arjen Lucassen discovered Floor's talent very early on and she and her sister (Irene) have been Ayreon regulars over the years. I have a hunch you'll absolutely love it: "Ayreon - Everybody Dies (Ayreon Universe)".

Yesterwynde kinda feels like a hybrid between Nightwish and Auri. Auri is Tuomas' side project, together with his wife Johanna, and Troy, who you heard playing the uilleann pipes at the end of this song. It's worth checking out. Tuomas has another side project, called The Life And Times of Scrooge McDuck, a soundtrack of sorts to the graphic novel about Scrooge McDuck by Don Rosa.

Purely classical pieces are not normally what Nightwish creates, but as you appreciate this kind of music, this is something of theirs I love. The last part of this new song sounds like the Moors movement from this previous piece i love. All the Works of Nature has many different movements and developing melody lines that remind me of Beethoven's 6th pastoral symphony. It is from the Human::Nature album. All the Works of Nature that Adtorn the World. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iJ-ylYRrjLONgM0 This video is 30+ min of beauty of Tuomas' gorgeous music in multiple parts, with a fan created video ending with Ad Astra. It is absolutely beautiful visually and musically. It will really make you see the beauty of the world in which we live. Tuomas created this music for orchestra and choir vocals with some contributions from Troy's traditional instruments and Floor's vocals. No lyrics, just music. This fan made video is approved by Nightwish and edited to perfection to match the musical mood in each part ( titled sections/movements) of the piece. Nightwish did release their own video for the last part called Ad Astra, which is also good to view.

At the end, the instrument you refer to (cornemuse) is called bagpipes in English, however, that's not actually what it is. He's British and plays many instruments and one of them is the uilleann pipes. Keep going with this!
