Great reaction. I did mention to you that you'd have to get used to the tears flowing when listening to Nightwish. There are a few bands that it's very hard to do good covers of their songs, The Beatles and Pink Floyd to mention just two, but Nightwish certainly managed to pull this off here. In fact I actually prefer this version to the original and I quite like Pink Floyd. Have a great New Year and stay safe!

You probably wont see this comment, This is my second time watching this video by you, but I just wanted to let you know, as a die hard nightwish fan that Marko leaving the band like five months ago literally broke me. I first was introduced to nightwish way back in like 2005. Their most recent album was Once. Marco, Jukka, were heroes to me. People even when I was like 11 and 12 that I aspired to be. I had the incredible honor of seeing Nightwish play on their Dark Passion Play tour in Mass in 2007 with Annette, and it was a small venue and I was no more than fifty feet from the stage on a raised platform over the people closer to the stage than me so I had a clear view of all of them. If you youtube search "Nightwish Paladium" that is our footage for proof. Being that close to all of them, but especially Jukka and Marco, was legit for me like being in the presence of people who I had thought of as GODS for all those years prior. It was lifechanging to see them walk out on stage silhouetted by the backlights and the roar of the crowd. It didn't even feel real. I love seeing people react to new / old nightwish so much to this day. Because I can re-experience the magic I was living in my earlier years. I am a self taught drummer for like ten years, and I started drumming BECAUSE of Nightwish, and Jukka.

I think the lyrics glorify the past, the brightness and innocence of youth, lamenting the "tying to the ground", the decay and high hopes lost, but to me this NW version seems to add to it a warning about the unfruitfulness of nostalgia and the inevitability of time moving on. Like adding a new perspective, lamenting on what could've been is the same kind of useless ruminating movement, "one step forward two steps back", that kept the high hopes from being reached in the first place. The emotions of being torn and going from hope to despair are really strong in this one. That's my impression, anyway.

I'm so glad that you loved this song, as did I. I think the same way that one shouldn't dwell on past too much. I think this song tells about an elderly man reflecting his past in a nostalgic, bittersweet way.

Nightwish rocks. Pink Floyd is so hard to cover, and this is a very good cover, but I still prefer the original. My first time listening to them do this song, too. I like his voice a lot. Glad I listened to it and saw it.

I didn't think I'd ever say this, but David Gilmour isn't the best person to sing his songs. There needs to be a guest appearance, either Gilmour with Nightwish or Marko with Floyd - I need to see what I'm hearing in my head ! This was a beautiful reaction to a beautiful song. I've found myself on the brink (or over the brink) of tears more in this last year than anytime in the previous decade - all that sensitivity I used to drink away must be coming back.. As somebody who listens to almost exclusively female lead singers, I LOVE Floor. But there is something about Marco that puts him on equal, or dare I say even higher ground (no pun intended) than Floor. And when they sing together it's probably the most powerful vocal combination I've ever heard (and yes I know that's not relevant to this song).

ive heard that marko was incredibly sick during this concert, and im also pretty sure that jukka (drummer) had a migraine during the concert. that just makes it all the more impressive to me. its a beautiful performance, never be scared to show ur emotions. NW makes me tear up all the time

It originates from a reaction video where the KZbinr showed this their mom, who is (or was) a nurse, and she remote-diagnosed a "migraine" just from how Jukka holds his head while playing. Yeah, it gets you that way, aren't they just awesome? Extra special emotionally, as Tarja was backstage, not knowing what was to come, that look from Tuomas to Marco. Also Emppu going over to check on Jukka the drummer (who was suffering with a migraine). That is just conjecture, but he looks stressed, not his normal self, wonder if he was already suffering from chronic insomnia?
