There is also version with lyrics by Nightwish about the "Last of the Wilds". It's in Finnish and called "Erämaan Viimeinen" kzbin.info/www/bejne/qHKQiXyOrpqprZY (that video has English subtitles and some scenery from Finland) Tuomas wrote it between time they fired Tarja and hired Anette and Nightwish had no female singer. Jonsu who sings it, comes from band Indica whose songs were mainly in Finnish although they made one album in English produced by Tuomas. Hi Deb, it's Dutch folk inspired by a dance called the "Dietsche Drommeldans". Some Welsh influences there as well, if you listen carefully. It's so hard to keep up that Emppu keels over in the end. Yes this is Floors costume change number, and watch her coming on late in the next one due to a "costume malfunction". I don't know how many metal bands throw in Celtic instrumentals, but nobody does it as well as Nightwish. Notice at the end Emppu puts his plectrum in his mouth and holds up his hand, opens it up twice to tell Jukka he wants 10 drum/cymbal crashes in the finale, which Jukka duly supplies. They have great fun with this one (well, I guess you could say that of all their numbers but it really shows here). A festival hosts a number of concerts by different bands (and solo performers) so Wacken is an Open-air festival but this was the Nightwish concert (=show=gig) at that festival. Many festival shows are cut down in length, this one was full length (as headliners). You can find many other Nightwish festival gigs and a lot of them may be cut down to 9 or 10 songs.

Beautiful tattoo. Have you noticed Floor got her tats a few years into her reign with Nightwish. Right arm a detailed all knowing owl, left arm what appears to be vines. In a recent gig I believe she wore the same vines on her legs as well.

🤗But the suffering was worth it - your bird looks really good! Both are true - of course this is a festival, but a festival consists of individual concerts. And Nightwish is definitely playing a concert here and not a whole festival. My Freaky Song by Nightwish. I love that kind of shit!

And at the concert it is for giving Floor change outfit and rest her voice) and the guys can just have fun instrumental jam) Emppu(guitarist) as always joy and joke with fans at stage) i recommend Elvenjig/elvenpath song, where there are cool irish/celtic instrumental part like this with Floors vocal after)

@The Question Queens: Debbie, if you enjoyed this one, then I highly recommend listening to, maybe not reacting to, the "Nature" side of Human :||: Nature. Reason is, it's an 8-movement piece by Tuomas that shows the musical interpretation of beauty on Earth. The culminating movement is "Ad Astra," which showcases a British actress, Geraldine Butler, reading part of the essay by Dr. Carl Sagan called "Pale Blue Dot." But yes, as far as I can tell, "Last of the Wilds" is a Celtic piece, instrumental, that showcases Troy with his Uaellian pipes -- the national instrument of Ireland. Any time I hear those pipes, my immediate thoughts are, the rolling green hills of Ireland, serene and perfect, surrounded by a misty shroud of early-morning fog. There is a reason why Ireland is called "The Emerald Isle," and the Uaellian pipes bring that beauty to the ear of all who hear it. By the way, the Uaellian pipes have a much more mellow, sweeter sound than their harsher, shriller version of the Scottish bagpipes, which is why the Uaellian pipes are my favorite woodwind instrument.

So love your reactions Debbie and the obvious joy you get from experiencing this music. This is such a special and uplifting band and this Wacken show perfectly encapsulates what is so special. There is no ‘them and us’ with Nightwish, the band and the crowd are as one and these concerts are like a massive party with everyone involved. Imho, this is why it always needs to be a live recording, rather than a music video, to get the full energy and intensity of their performance. This is "Last of the Wilds" instrumental, and Floor does a costume change during it. Floor barely makes it back, she is running for the microphone, for the next song, and if you notice under her left arm will be unzipped for the next song. They couldn't get it zipped up in time. Nice tat, I got two in one day 24 years ago, one on each shoulder.
