This music video is absolutely amazing and the images support the message and tone of the music. This is the first single of their upcoming album Yesterwynde. However Nightwish released a spectaculair music video to promote the single of their 2020 album (Human Nature) which is called Noise. Definitely a reaction. The message is very clear and gets darker as the video progresses. These two albums deal with the birth of our world and the place of all living things in it. They are part of a series of three which started with the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful (2015). The masterpiece in this album is the song The Greatest Show On Earth (23 minutes). Please do a reaction on Nightwish Noise official video from the Human Nature album.

I have watched this video countless time since it was "dropped!" When you think about it, just being born, we have won the jackpot!! Billions of people have not been born...because their egg was not fertilized! Be grateful that you are alive, and have the opportunity to do something that will affect your part of the world in a positive way!

Hello Travis [ @TwistedGunZ ] ! Nightwish fan here, your musical quest summoned me. Welcome to the world of symphonic metal! And thank you for checking this legendary band! This music video is the 1st single released in advance from their upcoming studio album Yesterwynde (2024), featuring Floor Jansen [pronounced Yansen], the 3rd and present female singer of the band, .and (at the end) Troy Donockley, multi-instrumentalist and singer. About the instrumental and vocal added parts - it's good to know they recorded their orchestral and vocal back tracks with prestigious institutions as London Philharmonic Orchestra. London's The Metro Voices choir group and London's Young Musicians Children's Choir as their regular partners. Since this is your first Nightwish reaction, it is my duty to give you the [updated] short history of the band concentrated by Ann Waychoff, one of the biggest Nightwish fan who has since passed away (and I am doing this in her memory): " Nightwish was started in 1996.They are considered a Symphonic Metal band, with a female main singer. They are from Finland. Tuomas Holopainen [pronounced Tuo-mas], the keyboard player, composes and writes the lyrics for 95% of their music. [Sami Vanska was the bassist of the band starting with their 2nd studio album, he was with them until 2001. Then Marco Hietala was bassist and vocals, since 2001 to 2020. He recently announced his retirement both from the band and the public life for the next year at least. Then in May 2021 Jukka Koskinen [pronounced Yukka] became the bassist of the band, for the Human :II: Nature tour - and recently, the band announced he became a permanent member] And there is the guitarist Emppu Vuorinen [he also recorded the bass lines for their 1st studio album]. Then there is Troy Donockley from UK who is a multi-instrumentalist and vocals. Jukka Nevalainen [pronounced Yukka] is the drummer. In 2015 due to Jukka's health issues Kai Hahto became the drummer and as of now is a permanent addition. Nightwish has had three singers. 1st one was Tarja Turunen [pronounced Tarr-ya] (Operatic vocals). She was with them until 2005. The 2nd one was Anette Olzon from Sweden (Poppy, strong vocals). She was with them until 2012.The 3rd and current singer is Floor Jansen, from Netherlands (power, operatic, soprano.....most versatile) - you just heard her. There are live concerts that you should use depending on what era. From Wishes to Eternity and End of an Era (Tarja), Montreux Festival live 2012 and Exit Festival (Anette), Live at Wacken 2013, Live at Wembley, Live at Tampere, Vehicle of Spirit, Decades live (Floor). I hope this helps. I want to welcome you to the Nightwish community. I hope you like them enough to continue the journey. Believe me Nightwish will surprise you with their songs. You will never know what to expect. They are unbelievable live. I want to warn you that Nightwish fans are hard core. So be prepared. lol " For an extended set of suggestion (with links), I posted 2 huge comments in the community tab in my main YT channel: www.youtube.com/@gabriel.bardac/community

Thank you for some of the backstory of the band. The only thing I knew coming into this, was them having multiple singers and I suppose the fans having preference over which singer they felt did the best job to fill the role. I was a bit hesitant since I don't want a battle of fans in the comments but it's still a band that's been recommended more than once and since this channel is a journey of exploring music from all over the world, I felt I couldn't pass them up. I'm definitely pleasantly surprised and enjoyed the band greatly. Maybe if I return, I could explore some of their music with the earlier singers so I can get a better picture on the evolution of the band over the years!

@@TwistedGunZ Thank you for your positive reaction. As you rightly said, a band like Nightwish that has actually composed and performed an ocean of good music in more than a quarter of a century of activity, over the years has attracted (and sometimes lost) a large number of fans , of a human diversity comparable perhaps only to the diversity of their music. I don't think you can fit the robot portrait of the Nightwish fan into a single pattern, according to criteria such as age, sex, ethnicity, language, education, way of expressing faith. Also, every fan has a preference regarding one of the 3 female singers, which is natural, but as you said, it's not a good idea to proclaim who is the "best singer" of the band. Objectively speaking, they are not even comparable, because they have different styles and vocal capabilities. As a constant, however, the high level of musical composition remains, because Tuomas Holopainen (the keyboard guy) is a talented and prolific composer. In the hope that you will continue to explore Nightwish music, you have a new subscriber here, at the beginning of your journey. Greetings from Romania!

@@TwistedGunZ Please do not join the "battle" between some NW fans, especially between the "Tarja section" and the "Floor section". All three singers are great, they have totally different voices and fit the songs perfectly Tuomas has written for them. By the way, Tarja and Floor are good friends; they even performed together in a concert. And if there are people who complain about the change of the singers: The symphonic metal band Xandria (founded 1994, re-founded 2000) until today had five female leadsingers. So Nightwish is no exception.

Omg friend, you have definitely plunged head first into the deep ocean that is Nightwish. Formed over 25 years ago by the keyboardist Tuomas (2-oh-mas), who writes, composes, and arranges 95% of their music; the band has had 3 lead vocalists. The current lead is Floor Jansen (Yahn-sen), who really made her most awesome presence felt at their 2013 gig at Wacken (Vahken) Open Air. They have a long-standing partnership with the like of the London Philharmonic Orchestra and a couple choral groups, which Tuomas incorporates into their symphonic metal sound with the use of backing tracks used to incredible effect. I really think this band is right up your alley, and you should love delving into their vast catalogue. Most reactors are introduced to NW with the most reacted to song of all time on YT - Ghost Love Score, and the 2013 Wacken performance in particular. For you, I don't think jumping there first is a necessity. Our fanbase, the Nightwish Army (NWA), is lead by Gabriel Bardac, who I suspect will be visiting you very soon here. He is known as "The General" for good reason; so please take the time to read what he has to say. You mentioned wanting to check their music videos. One thing you will learn about Nightwish - They are best experienced live. Seriously. If you want to check MVs though, I would definitely recommend Noise, Tribal, and Shoemaker. I'll leave the rest to your discretion, as there are other excellent ones out there as well. In recent years, Tuomas and Nightwish have evolved to producing music exploring our place in the universe and on this planet. The albums Endless Forms Most Beautiful and Human :||: Nature were the first 2 albums of a 3 album arc; to be concluded in September with the dropping of the 3rd album Yesterwynde, which Perfume of the Timeless was pre-released from. There's a ton of stuff predating the trilogy that is god-tier as well. You could spend years immersing yourself in this band without blinking an eye. Just remember, always go with live versions, with the exceptions noted above. And if trying to decide, "Should I do the Wacken 2013 version, or one of the other lives out there, which should I choose?" Always go Wacken, with just 1 exception: I Want My Tears Back...go with Buenos Aires 2018. I could go on and on, but I'm just a solitary footsoldier from NWA's Pennsylvania Division. There is a multitude of really great people in the NWA that will visit and offer insights and loving support as you embark on this lens-changing world you've entered. I shall defer to them. Enjoy the ride!

As good as Nightwish's music videos are, they are even better live. The entire set of videos live from Wacken 2013 comprise a catalog of excellence that is probably unrivaled. This is a band made of of extremely talented musicians who all play for the song. You will find no egos here. Every Nightwish song is different, running from soft ballads, to songs with a distinct Celtic influence to hard and heavy metal, and there isn't a bad one in the bunch. I hope that you continue on your Nightwish journey and have subscribed in the hopes that you do.

Ill definitely return at one point. I want to get an idea of the two other singers as well and will likely do live versions going forward. My first introduction to bands, I always prefer the official MV. I'm not much of an animated reactor so I tend to fixate on the MV to get a better understanding of the message I feel the artist is trying to convey. Going forward, you can expect Live versions!

When you want to go further on the path of our 1.83m (6ft.+) tall Dutch Valkyrie Queen Floor Jansen besides Nightwish, here is some background information on the best and most versitale female singer of our time. Floor joined the band 'After Forever' in 1997 at the age of 16. Here are some of my favourites: ‘Energize me’; Monolith of Doubt’ and Dreamflight’. Floor attended the then new Rock Academy in 1999 and graduated in 2003. She also studied 2 years at the Conservatory (1 year Music Theatre and 1 year Opera). 'After Forever' disbanded in 2009 and Floor started her own band 'Revamp' from scratch. Here she experimented with different vocal styles within one song from full operatic to death growls in seconds. Here are some examples: ‘Misery’s no Crime’, ‘Wild card’ and ‘Disdain’. Besides managing a band on her own she also did a lot of vocal coaching and as she is a perfectionist, she wants to do everything at 100%+. Eventually she had to pay the price and got a burnout. She had just recovered when end of september 2012 the call came from Nightwish to fill in for the remainder of the North American Tour at first as their second singer Annette got ill. Floor had just 48 hours to learn the whole setlist. There is a documentary made of this world tour: ‘Please learn the setlist in 48 hours’ Floor joined Nightwish after the iconic Wacken concert in 2013 as permanent member of the band. Floor continued to perform with 'Revamp’ also, but it was clear that she could not combine the two for much longer, so 'Revamp' disbanded in 2016. Floor did a side project called 'Northward' where she dived into the Hard Rock scene. The song 'While Love Died is a must see. Her stunning performances on the Dutch TV show 'Beste Zangers 2019' gave her at last some more recognition in her home country where she was relatively unknown until then. There are numerous guest appearances with other bands to find on KZbin. To see how to get a crowd of metalheads silenced and in awe watch her featuring with the band 'Epica' and the song 'Stabat Mater Dolorosa’ and to see her in full opera mode, watch her rendition of 'O Mio Babbino Caro' from Puccini. As live concerts were cancelled and home isolation due to the Covid situation, Floor discovered KZbin in these years. Mindblowing covers, chats with her idols and other singers, vocal masterclasses, personal insights and so much more. She even made a video reacting to herself singing Ghost Love Score at Wacken. Lots of technical info and some memories of her starting with Nightwish. Also her Fan Friday videos are hilarious. Just unpack some of these and other presents she left on her channel. Also videos of her solotour she did with songs of her impressive career. Her latest endeavour is her stunning solo album ‘My Paragon. Floor is a high sensitive person, so peace and quiet is as important for her. Living by the woods in Sweden with her husband Hannes Van Dahl (drummer of the band Sabaton), daughters Freja (turned 7 years this march) and Lucy (born last october) ,a couple of horses, dogs and cats, she found this.

Great reaction, you have a new subscriber. I am always especially impressed by the freedivers (real divers, no CGI); for me they symbolize our origin from the oceans as well as "diving deep" into our personal history and the history of all life on planet Earth. By the way, 8,5 minutes is normal for Nightwish; "The greatest show on Earth" is more than 20 minutes long. Tuomas (on keyboards), the composer and writer of the lyrics of most Nightwish songs, is a great storyteller. He loves movie soundtracks and Disney - in several NW songs you can hear this. And their musical range is incredible - from soft (e.g. "Sleeping sun" or "Our decades in the sun") to very heavy songs (e.g. "Yours is an empty hope" or "Master passion greed"). There are also folk elements in several of their songs (Celtic), they even have a jazzy/bluesy song (Slow, love, slow). They have made some good music videos but are normally best live. Gabriel Bardac has already sent you some information about NW; follow his list, you cannot be wrong with it.

If someone wearing perfume was riding in a lift (elevator) that you are now in, although they have long gone, you can still tell that they were there. Our ancestors may also have long gone, but it is you and I who are the lingering perfume that they left behind. Nightwish, with a few exceptions (such as their video "Noise") are best if you view their live gigs rather than their studio releases. "Perfume Of The Timeless" is not yet released on an album, but this video is a pretty good substitute to tide us over.

Nightwish established symphonic metal together with Within Temptation around 2000. Nightwish is still the benchmark today. Mastermind Tuomas was surprised that the label accepted such a long song as the first single. It is too long and the vocals start much too late. But Nightwish can obviously do whatever they want. Most of the songs are around 5 minutes long. Almost all of them exceed a radio-friendly format. The longest is 30 minutes long. Live they limited themselves to 15 minutes and used instrumental parts for bowing. The single and the lyric videos from the current album are also good. A new one is coming out soon. Otherwise I would recommend live. Singer Floor Jansen has been singing for the band since 2012 and lives off the audience. The bigger the audience, the better she is. Other symphonics: VISIONS OF ATLANTIS - Tonight I'm Alive (Official Video) | Napalm Records Within Temptation - The Reckoning (feat. Amy Lee from Evanescence) live at the Worlds Collide Tour Blackbriar - Mortal Remains (Official Music Video)

Thanks for your great reaction to this masterpiece. Here's some probability calculations: Step 1. Probability of a boy meeting a girl to have a romantic relationship with: one in 20,000. Step 2. Probability of that same boy knocking up that same girl: one in 2000. Step 3. Probability of right sperm meeting right egg: one in 400 quadrillion. Step 4. Now lets assume that you have just those 12 generations of ancestors mentioned in the intro to this song. For the probability of every one of those 12 generations of your ancestors having reproduced successfully with right sperm having met the right egg is (20k x 2k x 400 quadrillion) to the 12th power. Going backwards in time with even more generations of your ancestors, we soon reach a probability of 1 divided by the number of atoms in the entire universe. This makes each one of us a unique miracle. P.S. Most, if not all, of the free diving sections are taken from Guillaume Néry's short film "One Breath Around The World", which you can watch on his YT channel. His thongs are in fact extra weight to adjust his buoyancy.
