I went to the Mera Luna Festival a couple of times. The tickets for this year have already arrived! ❤ My Wacken Open Air experience started in 1999 😃 Since then I went there nearly every year. I Was happy to have been there in the crowd in front of Nightwish in 2013 🤩 It was amazing to be part of that gigantic concert! The feeling was epic! ❤ If you have the Chance to go to Wacken or to Mera Luna - GO 😃

Holding 82.000 people completely captivated....Ruling over them.... And the combination with the best band ever, including this fantastic composer Tuomas... The most epic live performance ever.

Nah. She's just very, very good, but not inhumanly so. Floor is no miracle: her voice is something she created. Floor is what happens when you combine excellent genes, a shitload of practice, an interest in variability, and quite a bit of luck too. Interestingly Floor has a sister who also sings, although it is (I think) not Irene's profession. Listening to Irene you can kinda hear what Floor would sound like in another universe where she was, say, a teacher rather than a singer.

Floor Jansen was classically trained at the Music university. She also did the Rock Academy and in between she was coached for 6 years by a musical theatre teacher, all the while fronting the Rock/metal band After Forever. Then she founded Revamp (very hard metal) got into a depression and when almost healed, she was invited to get Nightwish out of trouble and she had to learn the setlist for their US tour in 48 hours. Now she is still fronting Nightwish, but she also went solo with a (good) pop album "My Paragon" for which she currently tours her home country the Netherlands, very pregnant of her second child. She seems to do everything at the same time....

She continues…” I don’t even like it…” So, Floor isn’t classically trained, although many states she is (again and again and again),she went to a Rock Academie in Tilburg The Netherlands, she took extra classical lessons in a conservatory though around her time in the Rock Academy purely to satisfy her interest for music and especially the vocal techniques. She even stated herself in an interview she was never interested to have a pure classical training. She is “just’ a perfectionist interested in many many vocal techniques.

This was #13 of 15, Floor had been head banging, windmilling, and belting songs out for an hour and 10 minutes before this and two songs after. She did take off an instrumental at 46 minutes for a costume change. Every song at this concert was very good. Welcome to Nightwish!

Nightwish are the best Synphonic metal band ever. 80,000 plus euphoric fans at Wacken 2013 the best concert ive ever been too. First time seeing Floor i was totally mind blown. Also check out Story time, Ever dream, Romanticide at Wacken, Poet and the Pendulum live at Wembley 2015

Great reaction! Floor is an amazing and one of the most versatile singers in the world right now. She does have about a year of classical training, some musical theater training, attended the Dutch Rock Academy, and is a self professed vocal nerd. She has been singing in metal bands since her teenage years, constantly adding techniques and vocal qualities to her toolkit. She is also a highly sensitive person and is quite adept at making you feel the emotions of a song, whether you want to or not. Floor has said there is two sides to her. The dog that loves to be at home in Sweden on her farm with her family (she is married to Sabaton's drummer Hannes van Dahl) and the wolf that loves to perform on stage. She has not sung the Diva song that I know of. Nightwish's keyboardist, Tuomas Holopainen, composes most of the band's music and lyrics. He is quite the poet and his lyrics are often deliberately written to be open to interpretation by the listener. Next Nightwish song? Look at Gabriels' list and see what strikes your fancy. He has one word descriptors that help give you a feel for the song. One of my favorites is Dead Boy's Poem live from Buenos Aries. I will also recommend another symphonic metal band, Epica. Even more dramatic and yes, epic with another classically trained female lead singer. Recommend Unleashed live from their retrospect concert with live orchestra and choir.

It is heavier and is a song about a romance that has broken down. Look out for the double Banshee wail at the end......

I'm not in the market for another muse, "cause, y'know Floor exists, but I loved your reactions anyway. One can make a career of watching Nightwish songs and I think you'll find most people will suggest "Ever Dream" or "Storytime"(my fave) as a good next move in your career. Cheers !

Got here before General Gabriel, IT CAN BE DONE! LOL. Be prepared for some unruly comments about pausing the video during Empuu's guitar solo, fair forewarning. A ton of people will say Storytime should be next...I say go for Yours is an Empty Hope, live at Wembley. You'll see Floor's full range of ability, minus her highest note available. Gotta see her do Phantom of the Opera to see her REALLY go for that high note. But welcome to the rabbit hole that is Nightwish, your life will never be the same, but you'll love every second.

Great reaction!! Nightwish have only few own and festival gigs in June this year. After that they go rehearsal and record new album. They announced just unterminated tour break, so no gigs/tour probably in 1,5-2 years.

Another Soul Snatched by the Valkyrie Goddess Unfortunately they announced a few weeks ago that they wont be touring , not even the new album which they will start rehearsing in a few months ( personal reasons) for awhile .....Floor ( lead singer )recently has been doing a mini tour of her solo album and has expressed her dissapointment of the announcement during her shows but assures that they are not breaking up and will be back touring one day .

Correctly. That is whar Floor loves: Building up until the final lines until she unleases it all... That is to say, if the song can be fit accordingly. In Ayreon; Valley of the Queens she keeps it low, together with the two other singers. In the performane with Epica called Sancta Terra she does likewise, with her good friend Simone.

Great reaction! You'll be amazed at more Nightwish has to offer with Floor as lead - much of it from this show. I'm sure Gabriel has posted a list. It's always fun to see someone discover Nightwish and Floor for the first time. They're truly amazing. I suggest Storytime, live from Wacken 2013 next. Also, I feel you on missing out on the Wacken tickets and trying to get them on resale. I tried so hard to get a ticket for Lovebites in Osaka, but they sold out in presales. Impossible lol. I'd love to go to Wacken too. I hope you get to go!

@@themetalmuse Nightwish is on temporary touring hiatus, but I bet Floor is touring solo for her project (in fact she is opening for Metallica at the moment(, and Marko is doing his thing. I am 100% sure they will get together to tour at least one more time - that will be a tour not to miss. Have I ever recommended Lovebites to you? I bet I did, considering you cover metal exclusively and they are my favorite metal band lol. They are the other metal band I absolutely have to see (much harder to see at the moment - I saw Nightwish but Lovebites is only in Japan right now). Check them out. They are amazing too. Power/thrash metal, some amazing ballads, unreal stuff with piano. Holy War live at Zepp 2020 is the usual first reaction for them.

Hello I have some info on Floor Jansen for you here. She is married to Hannes Van Dahl, drummer of the Swedish power metal band Sabaton. Together they have a daughter and.....? ( Freja & ...? ) Floor Jansen is a soprano, with a range of more than 3 octaves (C3 to F6). Re-singing style ranges from opera to screams and grunts. She usually sings in English, in addition she has also sung songs in Dutch, German, Spanish, Finnish, Latin, Italian and Swedish. Jansen was the singer of the Dutch metal band After Forever from 1997 to early 2009. From 1999 she studied at the Rockacademie in Tilburg with classmates Jacqueline Govaert and Danny Vera, where she graduated in 2003. In addition to her activities at After Forever, she cool singing lessons. She plays guitar, piano and flute. On May 5, 2010, she presented her new band ReVamp, which was disbanded in September 2016. From 1 October 2012 Jansen replaced Anette Olzon as singer of Nightwish during the Imaginaerum World Tour. On October 9, 2013, it was announced that she would be the group's regular new front singer. In 2015, Nightwish released the album Endless Forms Most Beautiful with Jansen as lead singer. Nightwish's second studio album with Jansen as front singer, Human. :II: Nature., was released in April 2020. Greetings from the Netherlands.

OMG you stopped in the middle of the final belt !! Sacrilege. You have already heard the first singer, Tarja Turunen singing The Phantom of the Opera and this song was also written for her and this singer Floor Jansen loved this song so asked for it to be reintroduced to the setlist. She had only been in the band for ten months at this concert and nails every song written for the previous two singers. In fact she had 48 hours to learn the setlist before her first performance, flying from The Netherlands to the USA. Gabriel has already given you a synopsis of Nightwish and catalogue. Hope to see you again soon but please no pausing in the middle of a section or maybe rewind to beginning of it.

It's funny you mentioned The Fifth Element diva performance. Ever since I discovered Floor, it has been a dream of mine to see her attempt to cover it. She has such a crazy vocal range, that I think she could pull it off, and do it well. Sadly, it remains just a dream at this time.

Well, while I love Floor, I really doubt she could sing that. It needs High F# and a lot's of operatic agility. Floor's opera technique isn't that great. Tarja instead could sing it (at least on some level), if she would practice that. But to nail it perfectly, it would need a very agile pure soprano, who still has ability to go pretty low. There are only handful of singers who have sung it perfectly.

Firstly if you get chills or goosebumps we all call it a Floorgasm, secondly Floor is Dutch so when she spins her head we call it the Windmill. You just stuck your toe in the water and what you will find is a deep blue sea of awesomeness. Nightwish is unlike any other. Symphonic Finnish Metal fronted by Floor Jasen, our classically trained 6 foot Dutch Valkyrie. She has fronted metal bands since age 16. She had just joined Nightwish 10 months prior to this 2013 concert. She is their 3rd, and best singer IMHO. There is no vocal style that Floor hasn’t mastered. Metal, pop, classical, opera and sings in Dutch, Spanish, German, and English. At the moment she is pregnant with her second child. I hope you will continue your NW journey… it will be long and amazing.

I love all the analogies, such as the reference to seraphim and the "vocal kraken". Subscribed. I hope you react to more Nightwish. I've been following them since the early days and they are amazing. All 3 singers are great, too, but Floor is really something special. The keyboardist is the true heart of the band though, and writes most of the music.

So, Floor isn’t classically trained, although many states she is (again and again and again),she went to a Rock Academie in Tilburg The Netherlands, she took extra classical lessons in a conservatory though around her time in the Rock Academy purely to satisfy her interest for music and especially the vocal techniques. She even stated herself in an interview she was never interested to have a pure classical training. She is “just’ a perfectionist interested in many many vocal techniques. To use Floor own words…” I’ve studied classical singing, but not to a great extent”. She continues…” I don’t even like it…”
