@user-jy1bc3gw2q4 жыл бұрын
No, not true. There is a version of him that makes mostly electronic music who is a one in a billion genius prodigy as well. He's referred to as the electronic Mozart haha, I shit you not. And I gotta say, he holds up to Tuomas, which is insane to think we could have two of them in one lifetime. I know that we do not deserve this. Things he has in common with Tuomas are that he can make absolutely anything and everything, every album he puts out is basically a different genre, he likes to change time signatures constantly, he likes to use symphonic elements, also been in circulation since the 90s.. In an ambient album of his, he has stutters and sounds that are like *1/16,000th notes* which he'll *speed up and slow down exponentially...* go figure that shit. It tickles my brain and gives me the equivalent of a Floorgasm. He also plays all of the different instrumentation himself throughout the album. In other albums he sings. It's just not fair. This album, *"A Binary Universe"* was inspired by the birth of his daughter. This is the kind of album you need to listen from beginning to end though because that's how he writes his albums. They're one long continuous journey. One time he released one of his other albums in two long tracks, side A and side B so people couldn't just chop it up haha. kzbin.info/www/bejne/ipbGdZ-mfKabp5I Get stoned and listen to this with your eyes closed. You're welcome. Just keep one hand on the volume because each song starts out sooo quiet so you gotta turn up to hear because even though it's barely audible it's so intricate, but then you're going deaf in a minute haha. *I do recommend not switching tracks though and letting one play into the next.* The second track is super trippy and he kinda delves into this jazzy shit, and crazy stutters. The 4th track, *The Golden Ratio* is my favorite, it's soo beautiful and awesome guitar. If you're only gonna listen to one that's what I recommend haha. Btw this album is written for Dolby 5.1, so if you can do that and lay in the center of it all (and especially if you have acid or mushrooms) that is pretty much ideal.

Nightwish was my favorite band since Tarja was the lead singer, but now it's not just my favorite band, it's more than that, and a huge part of that is because Floor is the lead singer now, and she make this band even better than they was. @@jerrypapadatos1210 Yes, the Anette fans who don't like Floor trying to sing soft. And then there's always the Tarja trolls who think that Floor's classical style is not on par with Tarja's. They say that Floor is a jack-of-all-trades, but a master of none. In my opinion, Floor just feels most at home with the bombastic metal sound. Anette does best with the soft ballad, folk-type stuff. Tarja does best with opera and classical. Each vocalist has their strengths and weaknesses; people will just hate on whoever doesn't fit their bias.

As a paleontologist, I've definitively been moved by this song. As you said, for us going to "smash" rock with the hammer is one, if not THE, of the best experience in our field, which means travelling to far places, outside human's territory, confronting Nature at its best. You find yourself back in time in the environment (working on sediments 150 million, 200, 500, 1 billion years old) and in the soul, when humans were just another new species in the stage of evolution. Absolutely brilliant, Nightwish have become a musical symbol for natural sciences (biology [with Procession], evolution [Greatest show], geology/paleontology [Endless Forms Most beautiful, plus others] and physics in general [this one and Endlessness). Other people already commented on the "Laudato Si Per Aspera" and "Laudato Si" itself. I'd like to add another possible reference, "Per Aspera Ad Astra", "attraverso le asperità sino alle stelle" in italian, "through hardships to the stars", a recent quote modified from Latin proverbs (like from Seneca, Cicerone and Virgilio). It would mean, in this case, that even through the hardship of Eugene's life (the disease which prevent him to go to the Moon, and his death), he was able to reach his dream.

I am stunned. Your review: one of the best I've ever seen... the song: a breath-taking blending of science and music, definitely one of Nightwish's best ever. It is pure genius, through and through. The operatic ending was emotionally overwhelming! Your reaction video here should be required in all astronomy, geology and cosmology classes.
First time I heard the second half of Shoemaker I was just shaking in my chair. I'd already read what it was about and the greatest thing about it was what the song represents. Science and art are humanity's noblest pursuits. We don't need no tales of angels nor demons to scare our minds into submission to a closed horizon. We need to know the real, human stories of great scientists and artists who expand our horizons and thus our humanity. Tuomas is a great musician of course but, his greatness as an artist doesn't stop in his grasp of musical theory and storytelling (remarkable though that may be). What makes this song so special is great artists paying tribute to a great scientist, more than anything, thanking him for his contribution and the inspiration of the next generation of great minds pushing forward into the light. It's a spiritual experience and you don't need to believe in millennia old fairy tales to enjoy it.

I have yet to not tear up listening to the end of this music. Floor has stated they do not plan on doing Shoemaker live, but they have had many, many requests for it.

It's impossible not to be moved by her voice. The day it doesn't isthe day I quit listening to music. I hope that day never comes.

This album is quit short, vocal wise, it's not that they have 14 songs to chose from and skip a few. So not doing this one live surprises me.

Joe Kelly First it was Tuomas who said that this song is not going to be performed live. Then Floor said in one of her live Q&A that it is not ideal song to perform live but ”If there is this much request for it maybe we have to reconsider.”

Music like this ceases to be merely music and rather becomes an experience. It strips away our greed and selfishness and bares our true soul, of what we wish to and may one day become. It truly is our one redeeming quality and our greatest achievement.

Same reaction I had when I first heard this song, haha. I could NOT believe that Floor was the lady doing the operatic parts at the end! I knew she can do the classical style, but I never knew that she could do it in such a way that is so high and angelic! I am FLOORED by her vocal range!!!

This composition is awesome. Thank you Tuomas for bringing so much joy into our lives. Thank you Nightwish in total for your fan-tas-tic musicianship. You rule 🤘. And finally Floor......Floor......Floor.....sorry, lost words. The ending of this masterpiece is a masterpiece in itself. Floor, hereby I officially declare you out of this world. So you are an alien Goddess that came from Sirius to bring joy, beauty and happiness to mankind.....Well, you're doing a wonderfull job ❤🤘. I share your tears. Wonderfull reaction!

What a lovely and heartfelt presentation by you both in honour of Gene Shoemaker that was performed by NightWish.... and it comes as no surprise like Shoemaker..myself and millions of others on this beautiful blue planet we call Earth have a deep felt lifelong yearning and longing for our celestial soulmate.....La Luna....for all my years a day never goes by without casting my eyes skywards and gazing in wonderment upon her pale face and to think she now has a companion who had that yearning and longing all those years ago to embrace her beauty but now in passing aa a Monument to Mankind and the Shoemaker family ...forever gazing back in restful perpetuity at mother earth........and Tuomas Holopainen brought it all home to me with that ethereal voice of Floor Jansen.
