R.I.P Ann Waychoff mother of the Nightwish Army. June 28th, 2020 . Ann was a big Nightwish Fan. And every new person who listened to NW, she went through a little chat. And gave them some info about NW. This was her favorite song. And this song belongs to her. I like very much that Gabriel have continue Ann s work.... so her heritage is still here.

Ann Waychoff´s song, or so the NW army often put it, as it was her favorite NW song, Ann was founder of NW army, and dedicated her live to it.. R.I.P. gabriel try to continue her legagy some.. so huge thanks to him to. A new favorite, if you are going to listen to the song again, i recomend you listen to the studio version, there is another 5 or 6 min to this song, that isnt included in the live version, the spoken words, its basicly Tuomas experince and describing things he have seen and some thoughts... very poetic....

Gosh, after you read those lines from the Tuomas interview about this I got goosebumps all over. This became one of my favourite Nightwish songs and I really like the extended version with the poem ´LOVE` at the end too. I had the great privilege of meeting Tuomas a few weeks ago and his words in that interview literally gave me chills all over. He is such a humble and nice man. Very deep and appreciates Nightwish fans very much. This is such a wonderful performance.. What a nice way to start my day!!!

The more you listen to this master composition, the more it will be one of your top 10 NW songs. It is from the Imaginaerum movie from 2012. A movie written from the mind of Tuomas. The story is about a composer, in the depths of dementia, struggling to hang on to his mind. If you have known a family member who suffered from this disease, it will hit home. It is available on KZbin Free with ads selections. It makes me cry every time I watch it. I lent my DVD to the nursing home where my mom is. They have had it for 2 months, and have requested for all their employees to watch it. You should watch it. Really.

Many people overlook the greatness and brilliance which Tuomas brings with his carefully chosen lyrics, composition and the deeper meanings behind the songs. I must admit me too the first couple of songs, just sounded like a really tight band with a great singer. If you look deeper so much brilliance and meaning within almost all Nightwish songs. Tuomas is the band Maestro, surrounded by some of the best musicians and in my opinion the greatest singer, or his voice, upfront putting out his lyrics with feeling.

Yes you got it right! And the fact that Tuomas has born in Finland, a Finnish speaking man. How much we should admire his ability to say all this in a foreign language, all those marvellous lyrics etc. He is a real all over genius.

One of my favorites. Love the second half where you can't help but headbang. Tuomas often references other Nightwish songs in his compositions. Here where the lyrics mention "same old dead boy's song" is a reference to Dead Boys Poem, one of my top 5 Nightwish songs. It is also a very personal song for Tuomas with incredibly poetic lyrics.

It is based on the poem in 52 chapters " Song of myself " by Walt Whitman USA 1892 version. The extended studio version of this song has , at the end, a poem as a tribute to Whitman made by Tuomas, the keyboard player and the mastermind of nightwish. Most of these lines you can also see fast flahing on the ledscreen of this video. Bucle up, it goes very deep. " I see a slow, simple youngster by a busy street With a begging bowl in his shaking hand Trying to smile but hurting infinitely Nobody notices I do, but walk by An old man gets naked and kisses a model-doll in his attic It's half-light and he's in tears When he finally comes his eyes are cascading I see a beaten dog in a pungent alley He tries to bite me All pride has left his wild drooling eyes I wish I had my leg to spare A mother visits her son, Smiles to him through the bars She's never loved him more An obese girl enters an elevator with me All dressed up fancy A green butterfly on her neck Terribly sweet perfume deafens me She's going to dinner alone That makes her even more beautiful I see a model's face on a brick wall A statue of porcelain perfection beside a violent city kill A city that worships flesh The first thing I ever heard Was a wandering man telling his story It was you, the grass under my bare feet The campfire in the dead of the night The heavenly black of sky and sea It was us Roaming the rainy roads Combing the gilded beaches Waking up to a new gallery of wonders every morn Bathing in places no-one's seen before Shipwrecked on some matt-painted island Clad in nothing but the surf Beauty's finest robe Beyond all mortality we are Swinging in the breath of nature In early air of the dawn of life A sight to silence the heavens I want to travel where life travels Following its permanent lead Where the air tastes like snow music Where grass smells like fresh-born Eden I would pass no man, no stranger, no tragedy or rapture I would bathe in a world of sensation Love, Goodness, and Simplicity (While violated and imprisoned by technology) The thought of my family's graves was the only moment I used to experience true love That love remains infinite As I'll never be the man my father is How can you "just be yourself" When you don't know who you are? Stop saying "I know how you feel" How could anyone know how another feels? Who am I to judge a priest, beggar, whore, politician, wrongdoer? I am, you are, all of them already Dear child, stop working, go play Forget every rule There's no fear in a dream "Is there a village inside this snowflake?" A child asked me "What's the color of our lullaby?" I've never been so close to truth as then I touched its silver lining Death is the winner in any war Nothing noble in dying for your religion For your country For ideology, for faith For another man, yes Paper is dead without words Ink idle without a poem All the world dead without stories Without love and disarming beauty Careless realism costs souls Ever seen the Lord smile? All the care for the world made Beautiful a sad man? Why do we still carry a device of torture around our necks? Oh, how rotten your pre-apocalypse is All you bible-black fools living over nightmare ground I see all those empty cradles and wonder If man will ever change I, too, wish to be a decent manboy But all I am Is smoke and mirrors Still given everything, may I be deservin And there forever remains That change from G to E minor. "

Hey, good to hear a friendly voice (yours). I retreated to an evening of music after a tough day doing clinic-y things. Up until 15 minutes ago, I was thinking I should just stick to playing/writing music tonight. Then I saw you'd done another reaction. ... This song, even tho I always had trouble following the lyrics during the playback, strikes such a introspective cord. To me it sounds like Tuomas' lament to the charade of playing every night's music like it was new and fresh...sometimes, things are simply not as fresh as we hope to make it. But then, that's probably TOO literal of a reading. I'm going to retreat to a pillow on the couch and let my brain zen out on petting a cat... our youngest female ("Velocity") is picking on one of the prime-of-likers (Maia, aka "Panda"), and I need to get Velocity to ease up on her housemates. Maybe I should read her some Whitman?

Here you have discovered my biggest addiction in life. Lost count on how many self explained tough guys that "never cried",actually gave Nightwish and Floor a respectable go,and they ended up in tears. She broke them effortlessly. We all know that whoever dares to show emotions, are the real tough guys or tough women. But i get it,i always felt really embarrased if i cried in public, there is this underlaying pressure on guys especially that showing emotions is such a bad thing. I have no problem in admitting that Floor is the only one that breaks me as easily and effortlessly as she does, but she also heals me/comforts me/cheers me up if im having an awful day. And apparently im not the only one,as tons of people experience this still today,as Nightwish gets new listeners all the time. Everyone in the band has great talents. I mean, just Troy and Floor representing Nightwish together as a duo will blow you away, because they fullfill eachother so perfectly. Nightwish recently celebrated that they are one of the absolute most reacted to bands or artists on KZbin,i think only beaten by like BTS (some Korean Pop Band) Showing that they are very proud and very grateful of the massive exposure and new potential buyers of merch etc they have gotten, thanks to reaction channels. Such a funny, down to earth, genuine bunch of people in Nightwish. Troy and Floor should have been with them from the beginning, imagine the size of the band worldwide today if that was the case. No disrespect towards any of the previous band members, just stating the obvious that the band as it is now was always meant for eachother. Everyone playing and getting out theyr full potential as musicians. Song Of Myself is one of my absolute favourites

I read that too, and Floor is one of the rare artists to share money from her own videos with small reactors without disputes. She understands the value of reactors for publicity. She is as smart as she is caring and gifted. I could absolutely not love her, or Nightwish for that matter, more.
