"Fold?". There's video of her on her farm in Sweden wielding a full-size sledgehammer (Thor's being already claimed). I'm 77 and have heard most of the greats. Nightwish is the best band I've ever heard. "Symphonic" because their backing tracks, when utilized, employ the forces of a symphony orchestra. Tuomas is a composer; not a songwriter.

We want to place bands in a category and while "symphonic metal"could be agreed on🤔, i agree it is so much more than that, because of the many music styles they use in their music,it's just not fair to place them in one particulair genre. 🤘

Love Nightwish, first time I saw them was in a YT video doing a cover of Pink Floyd's 'High Hopes' with Marko Hietala as the vocalist on that occasion and I was hooked. Their genre is symphonic metal and Floor Jansen is such an amazing singer, her range is incredible. They have an huge catalogue of music and I've downloaded a lot of their songs, love them.

Great reaction. The Bass player here is Marko Hietla and an incredible singer in his own right. If you continue with Nightwish, try “ Romanticide” from this same show where he and Floor trade vocals. Or “ High Hopes” their cover/tribute to the Pink Floyd song of the same name. Marko is no longer with the band.

This band is always on point and one of the few bands that's better live. And yes, she's classically trained. So she can do opera. Death metal may not be for you, but I think symphonic metal and melodic metal are more up your alley. It's often with a combination of growling and clean vocals.

And as you have surely noticed, although they are all outstanding , none of them standout 😍 Nightwish is their own genre and no other band comes close to the level they are at. Never, in the history of music entertainment, have a set of skills and talent collided in such powerful manner. Tuomas is a true genius as a composer and with lyrics and she is a Valkyrie Goddess!

Death metal is uhhh indeed not the easiest metal genre to listen to, but did you know that Tuomas Holopainen (Nightwish founder, keyboardist, songwriter aka Metal Mozart) is also involved in Death metal? Darkwoods my Betrothed, (Started as Virgin's Cunt in 1993 🙂) Their wiki saying: Tuomas Holopainen - keyboards (2020-present; session 1993-1998) He also founded the Auri project, a more folky style ensemble. Floor Jansen is the most versatile singer, not only in the metal scene but on the planet. If you like some old style rock music, check her project "Northward", the song "While love Died" with Pagan's Mind guitar hero Jørn Viggo Lofstad.

Nightwish is mostly symphonic metal, due to classically inspired compositions, symphonic backing tracks and instrumentals combined with female Soprano voice that can do both rock and operatic (like) vocals. Floor's abilities allow Tuomas a WIDE range of compositional choices. Floor started in Opera and did aria, o mio babbino caro.... and the mic is far away and she's in full Puccini style opera voice.

Nightwish is mostly about symphonic metal but if you consider songs like Master Passion Greed, Harvest and Slow Love Slow, you either have to declare that Nightwish is a genre of its own or that they are multi-genre band.

Floor has trained both classical/Opera and at a school of rock. Floor can growl but not often. Floor can pretty much sing any Genre she puts her mind to. The Windmill is because she's Dutch lol. If you get chills watching Floor that means you've had what we call a Floorgasm. Floor is a beast standing at 6.1 add heals your looking at 6 5 on stage. She lives on a small farm and rides horses build fences etc so she's pretty strong. Floor can sing in different languages i've heard her sing five so far. Floor can play some instruments she's very talented and she's an empath inside with a very kind heart but i still wouldn't mess with her.

@@Rinssi_from_Finland They are categories as "Gothic Metal" by fans and the industry. And both how they style themselves and music they make since 90s is very much "Gothic Metal". Symphonic Metal and Gothic Metal is very must interwoven in modern day. You may feel different about this topic depending on if your from America or Europe, the difference between American Metal and European Metal can be big sometimes.

Great reaction, my thoughts were like yours when I first got into this band! Have to say you haven’t seen/heard nothing yet, honestly. Some advice, follow Gabriel’s list, it’s best. It’ll take you through the Nightwish journey with Floor our Queen in progression! That concert was in 2013 and they’re still gigging now with new songs, that’s why it’s best not to jump ahead! Worlds colliding. I started watching Anthony because he was reacting to a band I'm kind of nuts over (BTS), and now he's reacting to a band my husband is kind of nuts over (Nightwish). Not sure which fandom is more obsessive -- I understand a surprising amount of Korean, but my husband tried to name a litter of kittens after Nightwish lead singers and Marko.
