This song has the distinction of being the last one Tarja performed with Nightwish. It was the set closer at the 2005 Helsinki show( End of n Era). Tuomas wrote it out of frustration. He was at a bar with his ,then , girlfriend, and all the guys there kept hitting on her. More Tarja? Try the Siren from End of an Era.

Tarja's perfectly clear and gentle voice (if anybody is going to call this operatic I'm gonna cry lmao) combined with Marko going absolutely insane with his is just.. so so good, such a great combination! They got the angel/devil -- beauty/beast dynamic that Tuomas loved so much during that time down to perfection. great, great song!

Yeah, "operatic" is something entirely different from what Tarja does, "classical" is more accurate. And here she was singing in a more conventional style, which she started using on Century Child.

The Big Brain singer Charlie Collsta ( an actual opera singer pointed out ) that what she does is more chamber music. Call it a sister discipline to opera. How many know that Marko is classically trained as well.

Hi guys! Nice reaction again, you always bring a smile to my face 😊 If you want to see more from Tarja I would do "The siren" from the End of an Era DVD 2005. I'm not a big fan of Tarja's vocal style, but there are some exceptions: - The Phantom of the opera - The siren - Slaying the dreamer - The Kingslayer - Walking in the Air - Planet hell - Creek Mary's Blood The songs that I like with Tarja are the ones that I haven't listened Floor singing or the ones I discovered first with Tarja, no hate ... It is what It is 😅

My Mom had this Nightwish cd. I only knew this song , Bless this Child, and Phantom. I loved it. But hadn't heard them in a couple of decades. It was just a few months ago I rediscovered with Floor. Now I can't get enough no matter who sings. I absolutely love Marko's voice. Loved your bopping heads and big smiles.

As we're approaching Christmas how about Nightwish's cover of Walking In The Air (live), originally written by Howard Blake for the iconic British animated short Christmas film, The Snowman. This cover includes Tarja in the band's early days (2000 was the year of the live performance I think, on the From Wishes to Eternity tour).

Haha... I was just like you, Dominica, when "Once" album came out. I loved Nightwish only because of Marko then and I remember being crazy for this song. 😁 If you want to check more Nightwish with Tarja (and Marko), I highly recommend song "Dead to the world". Maybe I am too subjective, but that song is still one of my top favourite Nightwish songs. Also, I think you might like "Deep silent complete" which is without Marko, but has a special vibe, to me. (Both songs album versions. 😉) I love when you are genuinely smiling, laughing and enjoying a song. We, who watch all your reactions can tell the difference. And just, please, never start faking it. Thanks guys! I was there in 2005 in Helsinki concert, which was the last performance with Tarja. If you like Marko singing and going "ballistic" cause of her, listen "Bye Bye Beautiful" (or "Master Passion Greed", which is more for her Husband). But no matter who is the vocalist, NW is NW = Tuomas. Best regards from Finland!

It really suits Tarja to sing like that without the huge vibrato that she otherwise used with Nightwish. Really nice voice. If she had always sung like that, I would have been on Nightwish a long time before.

She's changed to sing more contemporary and with less vibrato in her live shows over the past few years. And guess what? People have started to complain about the missing vibrato. 😂🤷🏼‍♀️

Loved your reaction. For me Tarja sings this song better than Floor (Anette is frankly meh on this one), but Marko absolutely dominates and crushes it with his vocals and expressions. Add in Jukka killing it on the drums and Tuomas and Emppu rocking out and you have one of the best Nightwish songs. Stay safe and keep rocking.

If you haven't seen the live version with Tarja at the end of an Era concert, please do that one do. There you can hear better Tarja's backing vocals when Marco is singing. Also if you haven't heard it with Floor that is also worth seeing. There is completely different vibe to it. I suppose that one sounds more angrier (which the song is kinda meant to be). Also, Tarja released her new song Eye of the Storm. That might be a good song to react to if you want to know what she is currently up to.

The poetry of the lyrics was the first thing that drew me to Nightwish. I first discovered them in 2005 (not the best time for the band). They were always featured in Bravo! magazine here in Romania. It also had posters of them, which I liked to collect. What times!

Floor is a very good singer, but Tarja's voice is another level of emotions. Her voice used bring Nightwish to another atmosphere, creating epic, sweet, dark and powerful music. I'm sorry if some of you like Floor, but Nightwish with Tarja was just magic.

I remember, back in the days - this song wasn't well received by Nightwish fans because it sounds too much like Techno. But it's a banger, and the Wacken 2013 Floor Jansen version is one of my 100 favorite Nightwish songs.
