Greetings from Africa. Saw this video about a couple of weeks ago and ordered a Huion GT-221 from China to replace my UGEE HK1560 and I have just got it today! You weren't kidding about the size quality! The pressure sensitivity is absolutely outstanding and the texture surface is a relief to my eyes as I was constantly blinded by the glossy screen of my old UGEE. Yes... this is worth the money! Thank you NihongoGamer!

Since the new Cintiqs don't come with buttons, this is actually a legit alternative. For less price as well.
@ghost20317 жыл бұрын
yeah, i know you can order a button remote for Cintiqs but i like my tablets with expresskeys already on them.
@tombombadilofficial7 жыл бұрын
Cintiq did fuck themselves up by removing the express keys. These Wacom alternatives are getting better with each release.
@IzzyKilgore7 жыл бұрын
The 27qhd is the only model without the buttons and it has an expresskey remote with it. As an owner of one for 6 months i can tell you, its really not all that bad. Its rather pleasing to the eye and the remote works great
@foxorian7 жыл бұрын
I had a 27QHD for a while and the button remote was actually better for me than dedicated keys I was used to on the 22HD. (I could position them wherever I wanted.) The 27QHD was too big for my drawing style, though, and I converted to a 16 Pro. While I'm extremely happy with the 16 Pro, it's stupid that Wacom thinks the EK Remote is usable on these smaller models. The side bezels are way too small for the size of the remote to lay on (I prefer positioning near the screen,) which the 27QHD's bezels were purposely designed for. And in an Apple-esque oversight, the EK Remote uses a USB-A RF dongle. The Cintiq Pros are USB-C devices and have NO WAY to use the EK-Remote built in -- not even a hidden USB-A port on the back to put the RF dongle into. WWhhhyyy wacom??? So, in a usage scenario with an ToubhBar Macbook Pro, you HAVE to have a USB-C to -USB-A converter to use the EK remote. If it was Wacom's intention for the CIntiq Pros to use the EK remote as an optional accessory, they should have given it the ability to natively communicate with it :\ I also think the 13 and 16" Pros should have had their own smaller EK remote with a touch strip instead of a wheel and fewer buttons to be able to stick on to the narrower side bezels.

I got the XP-Pen Artist 22 Pro for ¥35,000 ($350) on sale day which was originally &43,000 ($430) yesterday. It doesn't have buttons though which I don't mind because I'm fine using the keyboard. I got used to it in about 5 minutes or so. Before I've been using the Huion Inspiroy H950P which had no screen. Since I bought one with screen I've been able to draw exactly 4 times faster than before. Even if I'm zoomed out I can still accurately draw where I want to draw. It's really LIFE changing... Now I can finally draw more pictures in my life time because an average of 80 years is too short! I wish everyone live longer. Oh! By the way I'm turning 16 in 30 minutes. 😀

i have the older huion gt220 ( no hot keys ) but the size lets you keep tabs open and im used to my keyboard shortcuts already anyway ,, have had it coming up on 2 years now with no problems and would buy one again its a prety solid peice of kit ,, TIPS ,, i would recomend setting the colour, brightness etc against another screen / moniter when you set it up ( as i have my pc conected to my tv and noticed when using a spray paint tool it would look like a solid fill on the huion but patchy on the tv screen so i ajusted the huion to match my tv and did a few test prints to colour / shade contrast match ,,so what you see is what you print ( in my case it was just increasing the brightness and contrast a bit from factory settings and i could see the shading was patchy on the huion as well ) another thing you can do whitch is quite cool,, in setting the tip / cursor paralax to your advantage is to offset the cursor so that rather than being directly below the pen nib held at 90% you can set it so it is inline with where the tip is pointing threw the glass (im right handed and i usualy hold my pen at around 45% with the tip pointing to about 10 on a clock face ) so i have my cursor offset a bit to the left and above it feels more natural and gives a better view un obstructed by the pen i can also recomend... manga studio 5 ex as an art program ,, i have yet to find somthing it cant do and is prety intuitive to use hope this helps ,, enjoy when you get yours :}

@blacksnow1507 жыл бұрын
no probs glad i could help ( and yes manga studio and clip studio are the same thing :) tust difrent names in difrent marketing regions ,,,, whitch i think they have recently changed to clip studio world wide now ) another tip i can give is to not use the driver disc whitch comes with the screen but to download the latest drivers for whatever model you get from the huion web site,,,,this may not be needed with the new screens but was advised to do it with the older ones and it worked ok ( think its just because they were a new product then and shiped with drivers.. that were updated / improved just after they started shipping them ) but better to have the latest drivers anyway all the best :}

I have a Kamvas Pro 20, it's great. 2 things I would like to have, programmable buttons on each side (as only one side is used) maybe a firmware or software update will do that in the future. And the screen to mimic my monitors color as it is a little jaded in comparison, however I have not tried the buttons on the top of the unit yet to see what they can do. Other than that, absolutely worth the money...

I own a Intous5 medium and looking to upgrade. I really wanted a Cintiq but the price has put me off. Glad it has, as now I have found out about these. You do a really good job at reviewing them, I'm just in a toss up between this one and the 191. I don't know if the extra 2.5 inch screen size can justify an extra $400. The side buttons are awesome, but I can get an Wacom ExpressKey with the saved money. I am just undecided. Great review on both by the way.

I have the Huion 15.6 . I think the bigger screen is too big for my needs but the pen can be adjusted to be very light to the touch. I occasionally switch up the pens for no other reason than I know I always have 2 handy. There has never been a pen 'needing' to be charged. I read someplace it's like 300+ hours per charge. Here is a weird thing that would be the only reason to use the larger screen - for some reason DaVinci Resolve started up on the Huion screen. It could be used to use it for the paint FX nodes.

Whoa Huion is hooking you up! That is a killer tablet for the money. I guess because of how awesome the last tablet turned out. The shortcut keys are an awesome selling point. Especially 10 on EACH side! These tablets seem like a killer alternative to Wacom. Thanks for reviewing this you've probably spent my future money. Does the textured screen effect straight lines? or does it make them sort of jagged from the texture? I love my old Intuos 4 Pro Large. This might be an awesome investment eventually. I noticed you use the Zoom H1. How do you like it? It's been on my wish list to fix my audio issues for my videos.
@NihongoGamer7 жыл бұрын
+Unorthodox Otaku Guy H1 won't fix audio problems. A high performance mic essentially just amplifies your situation. Get lots of carpet and cover flat reflective surfaces :)
@pixel_overkill7 жыл бұрын
I know a good microphone helps but I tried different microphones and my PC has a terrible on board sound card. My creative X-Fi isn't working right. and my Go Pro Hero 3 External Mic Port stopped working sadly. So all my recent recordings i'm editing sound Tinny like regardless of the Mic. I've used a Zoom H4 of my friend's on my car channel and it was Movie quality. Was curious if you liked the H1 a lot. Your videos sound good. Do you use a external Mic or the built in mic on the H1?
@NihongoGamer7 жыл бұрын
built-in mic. but honestly with enough carpet you can make a laptop mic sound professional :)
@pixel_overkill7 жыл бұрын
I've actually got carpet floors, a quiet room, and foam surrounding my desk to absorb sound. It's not the issue there's no room interference. Every mic has the same tinny sound on this desktop card. Recording with these mics on the Go Pro was really nice or on the H4. That's why I know it's the desktop's onboard sound causing my sound quality to be bad. My laptop likely has a better sound card. It's apparently THX. Update Edit: I did a test on my laptop that has a THX Studio Pro Sound card built in and it's worlds different. My desktop really needs a sound card. I got my Creative XFI card working. It fixed the recording quality big time. Very happy it was just the Extended Dock controls that were messed up.

I'm a professional illustrator and digital artist who has been drawing with a mouse for more than 20 years, this would change my life like a first sexual encounter or first car (although for me both of those were massively disappointing but you get my point). Wacom is next level but the expense makes it unattainable for the average working artist, they've lost touch with the whole essence of true artists which is that in general we struggle, we create, inspire and dream but millionaires we are not....thank you Huion, I will start with your smaller models and work up to the big one - I am not entirely convinced all that real estate is necessary if you think about it but I love the idea of reinventing my process because it is available - so excited!

If Huion gave you this to try it out for free, presumably after you have finished throwing all the stuff across the table you will send it back saying it doesn't work ?:-)) I like your articulate, 'animated' style, but go easy on the casual treatment of the supplied gear please. The screen looks like a good piece of kit - i'm trying to convince my graphic artist daughter this is the cheaper option to a Wacom Cintiq, and to be honest I wouldn't mind one myself. Oh yes, glad you moved your coffee out of the way before you started putting it together :-)

I have been looking at several of the various tablet displays that are around 20 inches in size and so far I had narrowed down my choices between two tablets the Huion 221 Pro and the much costly Wacom Cintiq Pro 24". I do not do digital art professionally but digital art creation is one of my leading interests both 2D as well as starting out with 3D and animation with Blender. As good as the Huion 221 Pro is with both its features as well as cost ultimately it lost out as today I decided despite its exorbitant price to purchase the Wacom Cintiq Pro 24. In spite of the Wacom costing $1500 usd more than the Huion it has several features that none of the other tablet displays currently have. The top two features is that the Wacom is a 4K panel and it supports a much wider choice of pens and it comes with Wacoms new wireless express key remote that has 17customizable express keys along with their touch ring that used to be right on the tablets and the great thing is that the back of the remote has a rubberized magnet that will stick to the bezel of the display. I have been using Wacom drawing tablets ever since a very ancient model the ArtZ Pro that if I remember correctly I purchased way back in 1998, my current tablet is an Intous 5 that has touch. Along with the stock pen that the Intous 5 came with I also purchased Wacoms Art Pen that supports the rotation of the pen in your fingers, this is great when painting using a fan brush as well as their airbrush pen and I was pleased to find out that they work with the Cintq Pro 24. Wacom also just developed a 3D pen that works well with 3D apps such as Blender and Solidworks etc. For me the biggest deal breaker for all of the non Wacom tablet displays is that they do not support tilt of the pen, I do a lot of sketching using various pencils as well as charcoal and pastels and it is nice that the Wacom tablets mimic digitally the effect you get when using natural media and you use the side of the led or charcoal. Though the touch is not a must have my favorite program Corel's Painter 2019 supports touch features and it is nice to be able to rotate your canvas simply with touching it with your fingers and rotating it, it also supports pinch to zoom just like most cell phones and tablets. The other though not a must have is that the Cintiq Pro 24 is a 4K panel it will make its integration into my system seamless because my main display is a 4K display, I cannot speak for Apple but Windows does not support having multiple displays that are not all set for the same resolution so for me to use the Hurion 221 Pro I would have to reduce the resolution of my expensive 4K monitor to 1080p. Though the Wacom is expensive it is not something that I purchase frequently so for me it is worth the added expense. I also have one of the new Intel 8 NUCs that has an i7 CPU and AMD Vega graphics, I just ran some bench marks and the CPU is faster than the new Cintiq Engine that has a Zenon CPU and the GPU is only slightly slower than the Nvidia Quadro GPU that is in the Cintiq engine. Even after putting in a one TB M.2 SSD and 32GBs of ram the NUC is almost 1800 dollars cheaper than than the Cintiq engine. I am a retired aircraft technician and since the NUC is so small I plan on building a custom stand for the tablet display that will incorporate the NUC.

Is it worth it to get a matte screen protector for the ipad pro or is a glossy protector just fine?

I've been looking at used huions for around $200-$250. Would you recommend this model or a newer (2019-2020ish) huion kamvas 16 pro? I'd be getting a bigger markdown on this model but am worried its age makes it less worth it, thanks!

Good day, please may I know if this can be used as a graphics tablet?

I need that because I dont do very accurately on huion 1060 plus with a 1080p monitor compared to paper. I would like to know why they did not design this product to be able to be used flat on the table, as that is how many people are accustomed to drawing, I feel I will lose accuracy if I am drawing up in the air.

Is this item loaded with software or do you have to interface with Photoshop or similar product?

wondering two things: is this compatible with ZBrush and can I pre-set different shortcut button profiles for different programs (ie Maya, ZBrush, Photoshop). All Huions that I know only support one sortcut profile and I have to manually re-settings profile when I switch program.
