I can agree with you nihongo. Spend so much time collecting steam games or dreaming of playing, then when I get around to trying I might not be in the mood and just say "that would be cool to play but the motivation just isn't there", so instead I do something passive like watch tv or listen to music and feel awkward for wanting to play but not go through with it. Also the night owl routine you described is similar

It's an aqcuired taste. Meaning you have to have it several times before you start liking it. It also helps to use fresh beans and water that isn't too hot, as if these things aren't present, it can make it taste stale and bitter.
@MizukiUkitake5 жыл бұрын
@@banishedair4518 Actually, it's all about how it's made. If you don't like common coffee, consider white coffee (more easily found as blonde roast from Starbucks, though Starbucks still burns it a bit). It's not nearly as bitter nor strong, and even I can tolerate a few sips without flavored creamer. If you go to an espresso stand, I recommend ordering a double shot white coffee mocha with extra chocolate. It's what my mom ordered when I was little, and it's what I drink now. I've introduced it to a few people, both fans and haters of coffee, and everyone I've had try it really enjoys it.

Used to work at a coffee shop (bit too long if you ask me). Too fine grind does change the taste because the water is then spending more time in contact with the coffee because it's going through slower resulting in a stronger taste. This isn't necessarily bad, so long as you're making the adjustments consciously.

Well I did try it and now I woke up totally refreshed! I still have phone in my room but I didn't play it much at all. What I do is try to do all that "you stuff" in the living room. Then when I'm back to my room I will just set up my (phone) alarm if necessary then sleep. Also airplane mode on the phone too. So the goal here is to do nothing in your sleeping room but do everything else in other room.

I can relate with the staring at the screen thing. When my girlfriend goes to bed I always think I’m gonna stay up a bit and play some video games that I’ve been longing to play. But when I sit there I’m just, meeeh! And watch something on Netflix or go on the ps store/neshop and browse and buy more games. But for some reason I don’t feel like playing them. Maybe because I’m too tired and just want to relax. And I know playing video games isn’t exactly working out but you do have to put in a bit more effort than to just sit and watch something.

It's funny, a while back I had the same experience with my phone and sleep. I ended up putting my phone on the other side of the room and using a real alarm clock. That helped for a while... until I started reading things on my laptop in bed -_- I'm hopeless haha. BUT, I did recently pick up a Kobo ereader and have been loving it. I've been reading more at night, falling asleep easier, getting up more refreshed... I think there really is something to this. Now I just need to put the laptop over with the phone, and I'll be a master of mornings... I hope.

Ha ha, I went through a phase when I drank coffee at night. I really enjoy a nice hot drink, hot cocoa just didn't cut it and coffee really hits the spot. Got tired of waking up a couple hours after falling asleep though, had to kick the late night coffee drinking. Plays with the hours too much, a really good mid day thing to do. Caffeine wears off right before bed time and I actually sleep better that way.

Also if you're wide open in the middle of the night a good way to tire yourself is to engage with solid meditation and breathing. I picked up 5 different techniques from the Calm app and use a couple of them with a youtube video of a tibetan bowl ringing every 5 mins. After 15 minutes I feel sleepy as a baby!
@matttcameron_6 жыл бұрын
Also, I try not to drink coffee later in the day. I'll make myself a bowl of matcha or cup of green tea if I feel like I need a little boost since the caffeine buzz really isn't the same from them and won't actually keep me up late.

I still use my phone for alarms to remember to do things or to leave the house to catch public transport though. Also, I can't have coffee after midday and be tired enough to sleep properly. Although I do aim to sleep at 10pm-ish so I can have more time in the morning.

I do spend a lot of time staring at the screen deciding what I feel like playing... I started sorting by what games are installed so there are less and install just a few games so I can focus on like one or two at a time until I complete them. Also, I've uninstalled most of the games/apps from my phone so that when I'm idle and pull out my phone I'm more inclined to jump into memrise or another app where I can practice japanese instead. Also, I've rediscovered my kindle as well and I'm trying to get back into that rather than gaming or using my phone instead. Kindle paperwhite is nice because you don't get that blue back-light that is apparently bad for you before bed.
