@shiwanmi3 жыл бұрын
What does that affect for you gameplay wise? Is it feel, or it actually affects the button press mechanically? Just curious.
@catnekokot3 жыл бұрын
@@shiwanmi unstabilized buttons got 2 point to consider (can't call it "problems" bc it's very subjective) - 1) different force point on cap give you different timing and feedback (differ depends and probably very small, but if you can feel it than it may be a realy big problem), so if you move your hands over a lot it will give you range of outcome. Again, it's very subjective, for me it is not a big problem but it is annoying to get used to device ranges and if you need to switch you lose habits and start over again 2) my fingers short, heavy and strong (never got any problems with different force actuation on any switches, for me they are kinda the same bc my fingers just kill it :D), so if cap unstable I can easily rip it off button. Ofc it's more keyboard problem bc there is probably no way to rip it off on that hitbox, but kinda concerned if it can be jammed or smthg. Currently got keyboard with unstable af spacebar (HyperX Alloy Origins Core) - great keyboard but man, I just can't play DJMax with my favorite layout with red buttons on thumbs spacebar and right alt, space got jammed or even lose cap in intense beatmap :D Also got unstabilized buttons on my stick before moding it, RAP4 Kai, it's was (dunno how it now) main differents between sanwa and hori buttons - sanwa stabilized, hori not. The difference is much less than on the keyboard but sanwa just feel better IMHO, but not like it was a big change. But after that I moved to custom hitbox with 24 button and with smaller buttons I can't imagine if they weren't stabilized - hitting same spot on small buttons waaay harder, especially when arcade caps do not have a recess like keyboards. Anyway, that of course you need to test it yourself to say for sure, I'll just got some other queston about some solutions on this hitbox (Up is 30mm usually to use both hands thumbs and switch between, here all buttons same size; a bit strange layout too). Although of course this size captivates incredibly, and it's look awesome!
@shiwanmi3 жыл бұрын
@@catnekokot Thanks for satisfying my curiosity! Isn't it wild how seemingly tiny changes can affect how you play tremendously? What do you think about the Shiokenstar hitbox layout (all 30mm buttons except directional buttons)?
@catnekokot3 жыл бұрын
@@shiwanmi yeah, before I was think that things like this is minor, but I just didn't understand that even if I do not feel a problem, it still can hit strongly on the performance Never tried one, but I think for me it would be almost same bc I never had any problems with right hand on my RAP4, and also almost didn't use nor double tap (short fingers not fast enough with that, but instead I can just smack 2 times normaly with same speed or even faster :D ) nor right hand movement like jump with right (the only thing maybe 360, but after some training I can freely do it with full shortcut on left) I recently tried to play the stick after 3 days GG beta on hitbox and realized that I lost the last comfort on the stick, so the way back doesn't even entice anymore! qcf/qcb before was more comfort on stick, but now even this is gone

I'm curious... if you want to play games with as little pain and best ergos as possible, have you ever considered a split hitbox controller? Put the left and right hand each at about a 30 degree angle off the desk? A big issue concerning ergonomics and long term damage to the hands and wrists is the pronation itself. Whenever you face your palms downwards, it causes the radius and ulna in the forearm to cross over each other compressing the nerves and tendons in between. While humans can do this motion, it's not natural, and we were never meant to do it for long periods. I know ergonomic split keyboards have been a hard sell up to this point because we're talking usually over 80 keys and a lot of muscle memory having to be relearned... but for a hitbox arcade controller, it may not be hard at all to transition to. Arcade sticks probably wouldn't work at an angle considering gravity would put more weight on one switch over the others, but for the hitbox layout, I cannot think of any downsides.
