Thank you, I'm currently looking to buy a pair of walking shoes for my dad, and this was very interesting to watch, as usually.

Ive just ordered these for walking. I've got a fused ankle and I've been looking for the perfect shoe for years. I'm glad I watched your review as I was having second thought after I completed my purchase and this has cleared up any doubt. Let's hope they feel great on my feet. Thanks.

Great, I ordered one yesterday and was looking for a review like this before buying but didn't find any. Luckily, it is positive! I really would love to see more reviews of other shoes for walking and light running, both in asphalt and gravel.

Will keep an eye out for more walking and light running shoes. These would be fine on light gravel trails...

I have these shoes and they are very comfortable. I don't know what foam they use, but it feels like a combination of Zoom X and React foam. The cushion underfoot is amazing and bouncy.
@OldManRunner Жыл бұрын
Nike’s press release says the foam is Cushion 3.0. Cushion is one of their early foams as far as I can tell. But not sure about the 3.0 version. Either way it works really well in this shoe

Are you using Motiva for running with no issue? Because they say it is just for walking
@ABucc10 ай бұрын
@jcrivera5364 I use it as an everyday shoe. I walked in it and also ran in it once with no issues. The only reason why I wouldn't run in it all the time is the weight. The comfort while walking/running in it is amazing though. They have said it can be used for jogging also.

Thanks for the review. You say you wouldn't recommend this shoe for the specific purpose of walking and not running. What would be your shortlist for highly recommended walking-dedicated shoes? I do 10-15km walks 3-4 times a week at a fast pace. Thank you.

I walk in a lot of On-Running shoes, but a lot of people find them harder on their feet than advertised. I like the Cloudstratus and the Cloudmonster which has a higher stack. Skip them if you walk on trails as they pick up gravel. Brooks have a lot of shoes that are good to walk in...a lot of them are very similar gut the Glycerin is one I like, quite plush. My favourite walking shoe is the Asics Gel Nimbus 25. Very comfortable upper, very stable base. Lots of colour choice now they have been out awhile.. The Nike Invincible series are very comfortable but a bit bouncy when walking...

@@OldManRunner Thanks for the response and suggestions. Forgot to mention all my walking is on paved surfaces. I really like the look of On Running shoes but they are only sold at a couple of boutique shops in my country which never stock smaller sizes (I'm EU 40/40.5). A few days ago I ordered: New Balance 1080v12, Asics Gel-Cumulus 25, Nike Vomero 16, and Hoka Clifton 8. Managed to get all of these on sale ranging from 79€ (Vomero 16) to 95€ (Gel-Cumulus 25). Stoked to get the Gel-Cumulus 25 for that price and I know some prefer them to the Nimbus. I haven't got any experience with high-end Asics but looking forward to trying them and comparing all the pairs. Hopefully I will find the right fit and ride in there for lots of walking.

Fantastic. I have a Clifton 7 and a 1080v10, I think, and the Gel Cumulus is a great shoe...I have not tried the Vomereo...very best wishes with all of them

Hi, Its a pity I found this channel so late.. kudos! Keep up the good work! I am planning to get the Motiva to work daily. All in all I do almost 40-50 kms a week. Being a Dubliner as well, wanted get your opinion on this shoe against the random rains - good enough to keep me dry? I have a dedicated shoe for my jogs, the primary motive is to only walk to work. I have been looking at waterproof ON shoes but a tad expensive for me with no offers. Appreciate your insights and inputs?
@OldManRunner8 ай бұрын
The Motiva will not keep you dry if it's raining. Have a look at the Nike Infinity RN4 GTX: kzbin.info/www/bejne/goTOcoF_mb6cq9E I wore them all winter in Dublin. Extremely comfortable, only downside is they are slightly heavy. Will be in the Motiva again when the weather clears. Nike have lots of regular discounts. If you sign up for their emails on their app they send 20-25% discounts four or five times a year. They also regularly discount, and probably more likely coming into summer. In some colours in the US they are on 40% discount.

Hi! Can I use these for long distances? I'm looking for shoes that I can use to run a marathon.
@OldManRunner4 ай бұрын
@@dianagutierrezortiz8316 You could but I don’t think they are very suitable. It’s not their forte. They are designed for up to 5k slow running. If you are going for pace a Nike Alphafly 3 or Vaporfly 3 would be better. If you want a bouncy comfortable shoe the Nike Invincible 3 would be good. And of course there are many other shoes by other manufacturers. Generally they make marginal improvements year to year and there is very good value in previous years models

Hi I was planning to get a good shoe for my girlfriend for her everyday purpose / walking. I was looking for the one that provides ultimate comfort. Do you think the motiva 4 or nike pegasus trail 4 would be a good option as I could get both for the same price after discount. Thankyou in advance!
@OldManRunner8 ай бұрын
The Pegasus Trail 4 may be better. I like the Motiva but it is specifically designed to encourage running and she may not like that, I do. My walking shoe of choice is the Nike Infinity RN4. I have the GTX version and I wear it every day. It’s supremely comfortable and is often on discount.

How much height would you say it gives you? Asking as a short girl lol Just heard you say about 40 millimeters, so about 1.5 inches I'm guessing.

Yes. About that. It varies a little depending on the size of your feet as the height of the shoe will stay in proportion to the length…

Hi, is motiva size 43 same of 40/Pegasus size 43?
@OldManRunner9 ай бұрын
I buy all of my Nike shoes in EUR47.5, UK12, USM13. I don't have a Pegasus, but tried a version a few years ago. My Nike shoes are true to size and I would expect the Motiva 43 to be equal to a Pegasus 43. The Motiva uses a stretchy fabric in the forefoot which may be a factor in your decision.

I've never heard of it before but it looks good imho ... I think your friends just like to raz you, in typical Irish fashion!! There really is lots of variety in the quality of finishes on Nike shoes I've noticed! I've a friend just starting the Couch to 5k and I've been considering what shoe to recommend for her, with budget a major concern, so I was thinking the Hoka Bondi 7 which has an awesome rocker, or maybe the Clifton 8, both I found for €68 online!! Barry, JUST yesterday while out running listened to "Managing Low Back Pain for Runners" on Brodie Sharpe's Run Smarter podcast ... you might find it interesting! 🙋🏻♀🙋🏻♀

These shoes would be great couch to 5k...

@@OldManRunner YES me too, for us Aussies too razzing is a term of endearment!!😂😂 Yes thanks for the confirmation on those shoes too … the only exercise she does is weekly walking and snowboarding in winter so I think those shoes provide excellent protection while her body adapts!!
