I bought this pair back in 2011-2012 when the cement four was re-retroed and at that time you couldn't find anything cheap on eBay to purchase that was related to any retro. Especially not the 4's ! The outsole and the different colors is what made me buy these as an alternative to the 4. Some of the comments saying that this is the poor man's 4. How ?? When the 4 is based off this shoe and it clearly has the same outsole ?? This shoe dropped before the 4. The 4 would be a copy of this shoe to anybody who knows or at least has done the research on which came first. That being said, I bought three different, pairs of these in those years. It was this color minus the black accents ( which I think makes it stand out more ), the wolf grey pair because they were the closest to my Grail at that time ( Cool Grey 4's ) which was super expensive to own, and the all black pair. I gave the white and red pair to a cousin of mine damn near brand new since I started accumulating a lot of Jordans the next few years and I still own the wolf grey and black on black pair. Good to see these re-retroed. I wonder what colorways they will drop this time around. Respect from Los Angeles Nightwing.

Man the flight '89's were awesome!! I copped the BRED colorway in the flight '89 from Ebay last year and I love them. Granted the materials are no way near as good as the OG's but I'm a 4 guy so I love them

First time I seen these was at a Shoe Carnival and it was weird seeing these in there because they don't really got cool shoes but just affordable shoes (couldn't afford them so I got the chuck taylors). They eventually got the Nikelab treatment but funny to see them now selling at a regular shoe store years later. Ron Harper on the Clippers made these look cool (2000s kid, so I saw it on a throwback basketball card).

I remember these back in 89. Pippen use to wear em. I’m like you I wanted the Jordan 4’s as well but moms wouldn’t buy em. I actually ended up with Nike Air solo flight high tops. They never done a retro of these. They had a really fat tongue that had a corduroy look and feel to it with Flight written across it. Then had Nike Air really big on back. Loved those kicks.

I'm in Australia and we just got these here in the store. I have the og high tops and 2 older retro versions from 2012 and 2015 and tried my size at the store and they were so darn narrow and stiff. Not like the older retros I have. I wasn't happy with them at all. In the end I didn't like the fit so I bought the "poor man's version" Air Flight Legacy shoes instead. They are so much more comfortable, flexible and not as narrow like these new 89s.

Wing, did you happen to see the materials on the Nike Air Flight 89's Team Red colorway? Nike actually used some descent leather on them. The leather looks the same tumbled leather JB uses on the AJ 13's.

I had these in high school too, I had in 2 colorways black cement and white black cement. Upset they didn’t bring those back plus the new black pair has the same insides as the og one the cushion is there instead of that crap mesh thing!

If they retro the white & blue ones, I might have to break that 2 year streak of not getting more shoes. I got these at athlete's foot for like $70 back in 2012 and I completely dogged them out. I wore them to work everyday (worked at Wal-Mart deli so you can only imagine lol) I wore them so much, they said "sim please stop wearing me!!" I loved them so much!

You just made me feel old cause I wore the OGs when I was a 8th grader. I never wore J's back in the day cause I felt those were meant for the alpha ballers though I held my own back in the day. So these were my kicks instead of the AJ4s. I loved my pair, got a retro dunno when and still have the breds version which was release back in 2015 I think. Hurt my feet but I don't care. @@MacMac1313yes. they were out before the 4's but they weren't popping until people recognized the tooling was similar or people couldn't get hands on the 4's. They were sitting on shelves and they became the poormans 4 because usually the reason people bought was because of the 4's.

Being borderline aarp, The slant design of the orig. over the shoe materials is my pref. Jordan 5 and other retros - they’re incorrect with the toe box probably because Nike considers them low tech lifestyle shoes. I had the orig. flight 89 in white with gray stripe also as well as the orig. air delta force, and orig AJ5.

My guy, love your honest in depth reviews! But one thing I noticed you said in this video caught my attention. You mentioned the OG Jordan 4 not having the stars on the outsole on the toe, but I just searched and zoomed in on an OG Fire Red IV and I saw the stars. Maybe you were referencing something else or I misremembered, because this is me remembering to check and reply the following night. Lol. Just figured I'd share. Stay well, Chris! EDIT: Ok so I rewatched that moment you mentioned that, and you said the stars are more beefed up nowadays than the OG, but I screenshot an image of a zoom in of an OG 4, and they look relatively sizable.

I remember the summer before my freshman year of high school my parents bought me a pair of Nike Air Flight highs. They were super cheap because they were white with brown...thats right BROWN accents. I could care less because they said Flight on the tongue, and Nike Air on the back, and in '91 that's what mattered. I wore the crap out of those, almost down to the midsole! I loved those shoes!

I would definitley choose materials over shaping bc the shape will become more fucked overtime if the materials suck. If it's nice materials, at least the shoe will break in and feel decent on foot.

Fusions depending on the model were clean. I still have the fusion 4, 8, and 9. As far as far as materials or shape, that's a hard one. I'd probably go with the shape. The shape would likely stand out before the materials.

Air Flight 89s are my shit I'm 42 and in 89 I was 12 and I remember the footlocker at eastland mall in flint Michigan ( my hometown) had these in every color And I swear the was 100 back then
