I liked his thought process with approaching people at a bar. tbh if I was a guy I wouldn't either - i have always found it sleezy (j my personal opinion tho); also it is so easy to judge someone, but we all do our best to convey all of our nuanced and multi-faceted thoughts. words are inadequate periodt - all we can do is try our best to understand each other. In order to do so that requires all of us to be open-minded. Just bc it isnt a normal opinion doesnt mean its all that bad. As a hardcore feminist myself - I agree. I love the term feminism - but to ignorant bigots just hearing that word may insight the thought of females over males when in reality it is just about equality periodt! The whole "feminism should be called something else" goes against what feminism is. If a man can't handle men not being the center of something and can't join feminism without thinking "what about me" then they aren't a feminst and won't be one, regardless of the name change. Yes, feminism will help men bc they are harmed by the patriarchy in some ways but it centres on women who are systemically oppressed by the system. Men will only see equality between men and women when they have more (a good example is how men perceive men:female ratios to be equal in stem classes when there are less women) so how can it be trusted they won't focus themselves on the center of the issues and ignore the issues for women? They are already doing it from the outside. Furthermore, a lot of men blame women for issues that the patriarchy created in the first place. Overall, there's no point in a man joining the feminist movement if they don't care about female issues and the movement shouldn't have to cater to them, especially when the point of it is to disrupt that mindset and people to care more about issues created from the patriarchy and help fix them.
