The Niki Lauda I know wouldn't lead you or anyone into battle. He'd stop on top of the trench, take one look out and he would say this: "why the fuck would you or anyone else want to get into this insanity? Why dont we just get all these people put them into cars, let them race, and then they can measure their dicks that way".

Rip Niki. Listening to his comments about fear after a crash, i can only admire just how much willpower today's motogp riders have to ride a bike after a serious crash. I see marq, lorenzo, crutchlow even after a high speed crash the one thing in their mind is always 'will i be fit for the race?' not worrying about anything other than that. Rossi is too experienced now that u rarely see him crash but marq and crutchlow almost crash once per weekend even more but they always come back without losing an once of their previous speed! God bless all the riders

@michaelr.48786 жыл бұрын
Damn straight, brother. Tough as nail is an understatement. The Formula 1 that Lauda raced in is not the same F1 that guys race in today. The racers accepted the FACT that crashes were going to happen and that there WOULD BE deaths. Not only knowing that, but accepting that was one of the biggest hurdles the racers had to accept in order to achieve greatness. Lauda obviously achieved this. I did not recall that it was only 40 days after his crash when he climbed back in to the car and started to compete again. That takes major, MAJOR balls.

Niki is absolutely right - We know that avoidance heightens anxiety. While many aspects of mental health treatment remain elusive or challenging, the greatest gains have been made in regards to phobias. Today, we know how to treat phobias through exposure therapy with unprecedented success rates (insofar as other mental health issues are concerned). So, Niki is right when he says he has to get back into the car as soon as possible. Avoidance will only heighten anxiety. Sitting around thinking about it will only make it worse. Of course, the proof is in the pudding and we see him continue racing and winning a championship. He is not only a racing god, but he is also an incredibly inspirational example of will, conquering fear, summoning up courage to get back into the car and not only perform, but do so at the highest level. His passing was insignificant in the face of his life, living his dreams, and thus truly living as a human being. May we all be so lucky in our lives to have the courage to live to the fullest, no matter what this is. 7 habits of successful people should have a picture of Niki next to it. .

In this interview there's also an indirect explanation of the reason for the sport divorce between Lauda and Ferrari. After the Nurbrurgring accident, no one knew if and when Lauda would return, and so Ferrari hired Reutemann. Lauda thought Ferrari would consider him a racing driver no longer able to run in F1 and so he no longer trusted in Ferrari. When Lauda then retired during the GP of Japan, because of a torrential rain, Ferrari was no longer trusting Lauda and privileging Reutemann. The following year, in 1977, Lauda became world champion and Ferrari thought the issue was over. Lauda, on the other hand, did not forget that, in his opinion Ferrari had treated him badly, and left Ferrari just being mathematically a world champion without disputing the last two Grand Prix.

There are two basic types of people. Two Dimensional Reactors and Three Dimensional Thinkers. This is what he is talking about. TDR's decide to do something and Just do it without thinking about consequences or if what they have decided is even correct. A TDT's does it in their mind first, from A to Z, considers everything that could happen and then does it in the safest and most effective way. TDR's dominate mankind.

What niki lauda was talking about not slipping in the shower is what the Buddha teach: mindfulness. Literally, a lot of our misery come from lack of mindfulness, i.e. not paying attention to what we are doing. If you just pay attention, you save yourself a lot of trouble. Buddhist monk are not supposed to wear shoes, even when walking in city because they are supposed to be practicing mindfulness, i.e. pay attention to how you are even walking!

Thats an really intersting comment;) it implicates an admirement for being strong. In my opinion nowadays the austrian are highly underated caused by two lost wars in the 20th century and loosing their dominating position over central and eastern europe after decades occupying them. But maybe the better, a Naziregime over Europe would not let us chat us about this topic nowadays free. Anyway, heroes like niki are not a singularity, there are and were some big characters who impressed the world....Porsche, Mateschitz, Strauss, Schwarzenegger, Hermann Maier, Mozart...Bastards sounds harsh to me, but i agree, such characters searching for the wrong topic can be found as real bastards at the end...as you can find in AH in this crazy ideas...a shame for such a great historic nation with great inhabitants

paulwilfridhunt why does that matter? Probably not since he’s very intelligent and educated.
@paulwilfridhunt6 жыл бұрын
vd It always matters. Anyway the thing is with Niki is that he can face truth. Not everyone can. Very few actually. I was curious as to whether or not he believes in God. Maybe he does. I don’t know. Perhaps you can tell me.

@@paulwilfridhunt I really do not see any importance in somebodys religion... thats a personal thing... but to my knowledge I don't think he does as I said previously.
@paulwilfridhunt6 жыл бұрын
vd Well that’s a pity if that’s true. He’s an intelligent man. But no one is exempt from mind bending. The mind can bend. Hence that’s why you can have 2 intelligent people with opposite points of view. A Republican and a Democrat for instance. It’s the bending of the mind which allows this to happen. No matter which way you cut it, God definitely exists. That’s a fact but with the assistance of mind bending a person can be an atheist. They don’t want God to exist but they don’t know this. The greatness of God messes with our greatness. They naturally feel good believing there is no God because they’ve gotten rid of the inferiority problem. But it’s the wrong way. You have to join forces with God. That’s what I have done.
@paulwilfridhunt6 жыл бұрын
vd Don’t underestimate the usefulness of religion in society. It calms down the people. It tends to prevent uprisings and rebellions. You can reasonably safely walk around in a country like India because many of those people who would be violent are peaceful because of their religion. Napoleon said the purpose of religion is to stop the poor from murdering the rich. These crazy shootings in the USA are being perpetrated by the Godless. However the bible says that the purpose of religion is to take care of the widows and orphans. I believe that the creator became a human being called Jesus Christ.
