Everytime NIKI performed Apartment We Won’t Share during her NICOLE Tour, she would share with her fans that she’s fascinated by the concept of a “multiverse.” In fact, she just finished writing AWWS when she watched Everything Everywhere All At Once - making her go, “Hey, I just wrote a song about that!” In this song, NIKI goes, “The story we won’t tell is my greatest fantasy.” And those who watched the movie will just get the parallel line, “In another life, I would’ve really liked just doing taxes and laundry with you,” is one of the most quoted ones in the movie. Living together with someone you love and ultimately lost is full of mundane moments that will turn out to be what matters and what hits the most looking back. But as NIKI says, “Not what I wanted, but what we need.” Don’t tell me she’s not a lyrical genius.

Thanks to niki because now i finally not feeling alone. I first kinda regret that most of my senior high-school year was spend for a super stupid and sad love story, holding on to someone uncertain and several toxicity inside the story. good afternoon everyone here. I just heard this song at that time when me and my gf dicided to stop and it was almost our 2 years anni. We used to plan that we would move in tgt in a small 2-bedroom house, we would raise our kids tgt (I have 2 dogs and she has one). We also planned that we could go to Japan in Nov 2025 or to Shanghai and go to see the aurora borealis when we 30 or 35. I had so many things to do with her but it all breaks and disappears the moment she said she didn't want to be with me anymore. Listening to this song takes me back to all the wants, the needs, the love, the feeling that I used to have. Yet "I hope you shortly find what you long for", I hope in another universe, I could hug you like I used to, I cook dinner and you will complain how clumsy i am yet still clean the rest for me, we'll lay next to each other and I will think forever finally starts from now. I guess, yes, not what I wanted but that's what we need. To all the heartbreaks here, we will all find the love that make you feel at ease and peaceful and just for only you.

Just finished watching Everything Everywhere All At Once, and really this song was something I can quote from the film. I've always felt unvalidated. But never this hard. I've ended things with someone last June this year, and honestly I do not know what to really feel. He has someone new now, and she goes by someone I know very well. I feel really disappointed, shattered, and broken (until now). Hearing this song a couple of months ago, healed me. I can never cry now because of what we had. To say that he did love me greatly would be a lie (as from what I have experienced), but yeah let's say that the new girl will always be better than me, and it's fair enough to think that she'll be loved more and better. The Girl I won't be really is now yours, and I couldn't be more happier than ever. I feel that if we hadn't ended things with each other, we'll only get to hurt and damage each of us - it's not for the better, nor the worse but for something that we know will never really last, and end good.
