Try eating raw fruit and vegetables before anything else in the morning, on an empty stomach. It will make a big difference as it digests a lot faster than cooked foods and needs to go through you very quick. If you eat cooked foods before it will stop the raw foods to pass through and you'll get bloated. I'm german so sorry if that's not very understandable.

Your description of getting constipated eating salad greens makes so much sense. It made me think of my slow juicer. If I put in a lot of greens like kale at one time the pulp gets stuck and doesn't come out. I keep adding more hoping it will force the pulp out but it usually gets worse.
@theanemicproblematicvegan7998

it is a good analogy, yes. also, if you've ever made a smoothy using apples, you need to add a LOT more liquid to it or it just end up as a half solid goopy block of pureed fruit. so her raw apple story makes sense aswell to me!

Great video Nikki!! This has been a huge issue for me lately. I suffer from horrible IBS and my whole foods vegan diet has really exacerbated this for me. Your suggestions make total sense and I'm going to try them all!! What has helped is to eat smaller portions more frequently and really SLOW DOWN and not eat too fast as taking in a lot of air into my belly has created much pain and discomfort and inhibits natural rapid digestion and elimination. Thanks again for your help with such an important topic.

Brilliant!! You covered this topic so well. I have found that since going vegan, I'm much less constipated & have no problems going to the bathroom. I think dairy was one of the things that really caused me to be constipated. I have also found that cutting out artificial sweeteners really helped. I also find that rinsing cans beans very thoroughly before eating lessens gas. Now, if I could just eat a giant raw salad with no problems :)

OMG! You’re absolutely right about the fake meats! I’m a new vegan (almost 6 mos.). I started eating fake meats and then I switched to Whole Foods only and I was very regular. I then went back to eating fake meat with my veggies and all of a sudden, I’m constipated and gassy! I’ve been getting painful gas. You are the first person who actually addressed the issue with fake meats and gas. I wasn’t sure what was causing it at first, until I started thinking back to when I started eating a lot of fake meats. I’m going to cut down on those meats. I won’t cut them out completely because they’re delicious and convenient. Thank you so much for this info! I’ve just subscribed.

You can just go by color of your pree. Close to clear is best. Also you should pee at minimum five times per day. Less then that is a sign of dehydration. Usually a person cannot process more then 16 oz per hour unless it is really hot out. In case double that if you're out in the heat.

Oh my gosh. I've been trying to fiqure out why I'm so bloated and constipated until the weekend when I actually get enough sleep..😅. I've googled so many times and it always says I have IBS or something😂. I know I'm eating very healthy so I could not fiqure it out for the past year. This was all like common sense things but everything you said was like, oh duh! Can't wait to "try" these suggestions out. This is literally the answer I've been searching for. Thanks! Also another thing that helps with leafy greens for me is blending them into smoothies and even when I make pancakes. You can't taste them at all but it kind of pre digests them so your body has to do less work.🌱

It's so funny to me that people think their stomach should be flat at all times...like no. After eating, there is food sitting in your stomach so of course it's going to stick out a little more. c'mon people. We get so caught up in what we look like that we lose common sense. This was a great video. Thanks for sharing your tips. One thing that helps me to increase regularity is eating raw veggies earlier in the day instead of with dinner. I like to use the bathroom before breakfast, so the earlier I get those veggies in the better.

Aw I know what you mean about feeling like a freak. I think it's all about listening to your body and making sure you're being gentle with yourself. if you want to lose weight, eat lots of veggies that your body does like, load up on filling low fat starches for energy (they also help you feel full) like oatmeal, potatoes, and quinoa and also move your body. Exercise, fresh air, hydration, relaxation (stress makes me gain weight or hold on to weight) and lots of sleep are also really important to looking and feeling your best :)

You don't have to cut down on green leafy veggies. What I do is I steam a big pot full of organic baby kale that I buy from Whole Foods, but before I put them in for steaming, I soak them in very cold water for several minutes. And I don't spin dry them anymore, I put them straight into the steaming pot, so that they are dripping with water and well hydrated, after steaming them for just a few minutes, they reduce down very quickly to a nice soft texture without over cooking them. A big pot full of raw baby kale steams down to about a full cereal bowl.

i had every symptom you described but 10x worse, and for 2.5 years. It made me depressed, i didn't want to live that way anymore. I ended up going to a naturopathic doctor and gave me 4 natural pills to eat everyday and I'm perfectly fine noe, i suggest doing that!

Thank you so much for this video - I have noticed some of these problems myself and lately have been trying to "tune in" more to my own body and that has helped. Also, not everyone is the same - in fact, I'm learning that our digestion can be as individual as our fingerprints! Not to mention our gut flora which is turning over and changing all the time!!!! You have inspired me to keep to my path and love myself for who I am!

For digestion actually; you're suppose to not drink directly before/during a meal. Dilutes stomach acid. Supposed to be way before;( hourish) or right after. Though I musttt drink during a meal. D: #noonesperfect

I am so happy that you did the video the way you did it because when I clicked on it I was skeptical to be honest, because Vegan KZbinrs like Freelee for example desperate try to force their routines and rules on everyone and they're like "no, people are not different, we all need to do it like I'm doing it" bla bla. The tips you shared are SO good, you brought them across in such a subtle way and you actually delivered information and explained why you're doing it that way! Great video!

Omg this video is so helpful and really helps me validate things I already do! I have gasteritis (mild) and in a nutshell I find it really hard to digest stuff which leads to bloating, acidity, constipation etc etc. So I basically eliminated salads from my diet and most people look at me weird when I tell them I legit can't have that kale lol so my doctor suggested that I can have all the veggies I want so long as they're cooked- and as you said, steamed being the best option! Thanks so much for putting the right information out there! Most often people assume that salad is literally the only way to go but it really isn't!

Great video! I am working on this now. My boating is driving me so insane that I had to get spiritual on it too! I have also worked on it from a Chakra point of view. The areas affected are the 1, 2, and 3rd Chakra. For me, I have been working on the 2 Genitalia area, and 3rd the solar plexus, as one is creative energy and purpose. I can relate to them, as I am on my life journey. I also discovered that we have suppressed things like stress and fear over our lifetimes and have never dealt with it until now. I see my body as an accumulation of my suppressed trauma from childhood that gave me ulcers and irritable bowels at a young age until the present. Becoming a quasi-vegetarian first was for health reasons, red meat was messing with my colon and digestion, so out with that first. I just needed to add the holistic healing aspect. For anyone interested just look up Chakra charts and see the areas that need you attention and make your vegan diet a partner in your renewed mind, body, and soul. You do not have to be Christian to know that Jesus fasted before he began his ministry, so not eating food or certain foods has a history of spirituality and preparation for greatness. I fast every March my birth month for 31 days because I want more than food for my body but for my soul that will live forever. Maybe I am following some Egyptian concepts about the afterlife?

I mentioned that in the comments aswell but here is another tip for better digestion: Try eating raw fruit and vegetables before anything else in the morning, on an empty stomach. It will make a big difference as it digests a lot faster than cooked foods and needs to go through you very quick. If you eat cooked foods before it will stop the raw foods to pass through and you'll get bloated. I'm german so sorry if that's not very understandable. I enjoyed your video a lot, especially the part where you explain that we have a responsibility to listen to our bodies and take care of it. Thank you so much for being so open and talking about that topic. You have a new subscriber :) Lots of love xxx

wow, I've struggled with bloating for years even before veganism. i complained so much about it and if even triggered a lot of restricting so i could wear my clothes and not feel pregnant. it became such a control issue in my life and though it still very much bothers me, youre so right in saying that being bloated just means your able to nourish your body and that should be viewed as a blessing.. :)

This is so interesting to me. I had the opposite issue 🙈 when I started being more plant based (not fully, but I'm a work in progress), but going back to quick oats and calming down my aggressive water intake and more thoroughly cooking my greens and especially beans has helped me re-settle. Cooked food must be better for us than is given credit haha. Thanks for your honest and informative video. I'm officially a new subbie 😊

Thank you so much for this, this video was seriously so helpful and made me feel less alone about bloating and constipation! I have had problems with my digestion for as long as I can remember, and it really gets me down. It always felt so unfair to me that I eat a (mostly!) healthy vegan diet and still had these problems, whereas my friends eat total rubbish and are as regular as clockwork. Listening to my body's cues has definitely been a huge transformation for me, but your tips about different kinds of food that might trigger bloating were so helpful and not something I have ever heard before. I really really appreciate it!!! xx

I've heard that! Currently not having much of an issue with it, honestly think sleep was the cause of some of my issues. Wasn't sleeping properly and giving my body the time it needed to rest and recover
@coza10
@coza10 7 жыл бұрын
NikkiVegan Yeah I think the core issue is imbalance in the gut microbiome leading to digestion problems and food intolerance born from unhealthy lifestyle habits. I can literally eat foods like bananas or dates which are high in a FODMAP category and have instant issues with digestion and bloating. Not sleeping well could definitely play a part but maybe you sleeping better could be a byproduct of better digestion / absorption of the food you're consuming? A lot of people say they sleep better when they change to a healthier diet such as more plant based.. How do you think you improved your sleeping in the end? Thanks for the replies :)
