The revolver injury was because his hand was around the cylinder. There's a slight gap between the cylinder and the barrel (forcing cone) through which some gas will leak. On all revolvers it would hurt, on magnums it could amputate fingers.

8:45 This shit is a daily if not weekly occurrence at the range I used to work at. It was $65 if you shot the rope, $100 if you shot the cable. If you killed our lane and didn't pay the fee, it was a permanent ban. It was usually people with shotguns, no clue why we didn't ban shotguns from our range.

Learning to use a scoped rifle as a child, got comfortable with a rugger 22, stepped up to a .308. Pops reminds me to not put my eye up to the scope stands back and let's me fly. I now have a permanent reminder to not put my eye up to the scope 30+ years later. He laughed all the way to get the stitches.

I support open carry for handguns. I usually do that with the glock g40 10mm in the woods. My advice to for others who open carry would be "have a backup gun". Mine is the ruger lcp max 380. For rifles and shotguns, it is inappropriate to open carry in urban settings.

9:32 I almost did this the first time I ever fired a .500 SW magnum - it was at that moment that I knew I cannot handle high caliber revolvers like that. That thing was crazy. And now I know my limits. I can do a .38 special or a .357 magnum just fine. .44 Magnum hurts my wrist a bit. 12 gauge shotgun? No problem. But .500 SW revolver? Nah, can't do it. I mostly stick to my .45 ACP (1911) and 9mm (Glock 17). It's also fun to go plinking with my other 1911 chambered in .22 LR.

It's not so much "I'll be the first target" so much as non-gun people will give weird looks or avoid you, so CCW for that reason alone makes sense.

Open carry is how I go. I get the argument that you're telrgraphing yourself as a primary target for anyone armed with bad intentions. But it goes both ways- people who might fuck with you will be more likely to give you room. Situational awareness is key though so you can react if necessary. But I open carry.

First range I went to allowed double taps if you weren’t doing it constantly. The rule was shot a second but if you weren’t being an ass about it they generally let you be. The shit that you see at public ranges. I get the hole in the ceiling shit happens you learn, the holes in the concrete columns separating the stalls is what got my attention.

my worst gun fail was trying to aim down the sights with a shotgun that had no stock. Came back and hit me in the teeth. Also had a 1911 get so jammed I could eject a round or remove the magazine. Had to for the love round into the chamber then remove the magazine and live round. Pretty sure it was a fault magazine, but could have been operator error. IDK.

The number 1 rule when shooting relvovers. Keep your hands away from the cylinder. It blasts to the sides. Small caliber like .38 or .22. Not so bad. I had a snub nose .38 that spiced my hands a few times. 😅 Larger revolver. 2nd degree burns at least if you still have skin left. 😂

Conceal when possible open carry when you legally can't conceal or if you are riding an ORV or you are in the woods dealing with wildlife and shit some states allow open carry at 18 but not concealed till 21 like MI, you can get a handgun in MI before 21 if you build it, buy private or are gifted one. (I built 2 80% and a zero percent by 20)
